Those pain meds can be brutal to your digestive system, they really slow everything down. I hope you’re doing much better now and that you can get a handle on things going forward. Being in that kind of pain sucks.

Phillip’s milk of magnesia. Buy the real thing. It will take a couple of days to work.

What a lot to contend with! It sounds simply horrible, you poor thing. I hope you start feeling less sore very soon. I don’t have any suggestions but would say my son has diverticulitis and has been in constant pain with it. He gave up all dairy last year and the pain has reduced considerably and he’s not had a bad flare up since. I don’t know if that would interest you or be worth trying. I’m not suggesting you do without looking into it for yourself.

Oh my GOD!!! Poor @bergdorfblonde Seriously, what more can possibly happen to you? I shouldn't even say something like that, but man, you have been through so much.
I am not even sure what I can wish for, for you, but I surely hope that absolutely nothing happens to you or your husband for a long, long time. You poor thing! {{{hugs}}}

I'm so sorry. It is so frustrating. I'm having a small frustrating flare of my UC, so I can't even imagine the stress and pain you are going through! Thinking of you and hoping you feel better with advice from a new gastro dr.

Good grief! I am so sorry! You have been through way more than one person should ever have to endure. You poor thing, I feel so bad for you. My sister was on daily morphine for a few years to manage cluster headaches, and the constipation was a constant issue for her, too. I know that just a dose or two of narcotics can bung me up, and I have pretty much daily diarrhea, so I can't imagine what being on pain meds all the time would do. Well, I guess I can imagine. . . you just showed us.
I'm glad you're home. I'm glad they figured it out quickly. But man, I really, really hope you and your doctors can figure out a way to help you to go more so this doesn't happen again.
For all the pain I go through with the runs, at least I know I'm not blocked up. I'll try to remember that.
Seriously, though, I have so much empathy for you. I really do. You are incredibly brave, in my opinion. I know you'll probably scoff at that, but you shouldn't.
Hang in there, honey.

Phillip’s milk of magnesia. Buy the real thing. It will take a couple of days to work. I should take a pic of everything I tried but ended up at the hospital over. Milk of Magnesia is yet another one. Who knew?? I thought it would be mild. Thanks though. Saw my primary, who gave me a copy of the hospital report (24 pages), and I just finished reading it. Waiting to get approval to see a gastro Dr (he's out of this Humana bubble). I'll begin the Lactalose (up to 8 tbl per day) to see if that works. Some findings in this report will have me researching them tonight! One good thing is that my BMI is good.

You could drink a bit of organic cherry juice. Start with just a bit. About half a cup.
You are going to have to get off those pill killers until your system cleans out. It took a very long time for me to be able to take Albee without suffering with constipation

I'm really sorry that you had to endure such pain and a lengthy hospital stay. You are gonna hate me, but I would also talk to your new gi about lower motility tests. I know that narcotics might be the cause of your obstruction, but there are things that can help. Lower motility tests are unpleasant, but really give your doctors good information. Did you have esophageal motility tests in the hospital?
As for remedies, be careful. Let your doctor run tests and get a full picture of what is happening. Then you can find the med that is tailored to your specific issues. There are meds that are not commonly prescribed and meds that are known for other conditions that can also work for constipation. First, you need to find out if its just due to narcotics or something else.
Linzess is a med commonly prescribed for constipation, but it has side effects and is not right for everyone. (I sound like a commercial.)
I wish you a quick and thorough diagnosis and relief from your problem in the long term. ((((HUGS))))
