They're getting Shimelle's Sparkle City...most of it is sold out since she mentioned it and a a few pieces are in store only anyway (including the large paper pad). My state is ALWAYS ignored. I have missed out on several Heidi Swapp and Project Life releases as well ones from Tim Holtz.
The other special releases that don't usually end up with more than maybe 1 or 2 restocks at Michael's sell out here lightning fast. We have a crapton of crafters. Joann's doesn't know this because they don't stock the stuff that we would actually go out of our way to buy. Instead, we don't shop there much at all because they only stock the same old crap that no one is interested in. NOTE TO JOANN'S: YOU CAN'T SELL WHAT YOU DON'T STOCK.
What makes it even more frustrating is that the stores in California don't have it in stock either. The new stuff hits the west coast last, so people posting they are just getting it on the east coast means that it is probably another 2-3 weeks away from getting to the stores that will stock it in California, so I'll narrowly miss it there, too.
I just want to be able to walk into my local stores and be able to buy the fun stuff everyone else is finding without fuss. Is that really too much to ask for?

I have a large JoAnn's in town and I think it sucks for scrapping. The same stuff for years and rarely do they get stuff I have to have.

I checked online and didn't find any stores in WA state that had the project pad in stock. I don't know if that means it hasn't arrived yet or that they're not getting it. At least Shimelle said it's not for a limited time so maybe there would be a way to request a local store to get it in eventually (though maybe I'm being too optimistic). I don't appreciate being forced to shop from a specific place though, and lots of people don't have access to a Joann's at all.
I'm annoyed by all the exclusive stuff/different configurations - there's always some stuff I want from one paper pad that's not in the other (the flat blue alphas for one) and neither probably have the b-sides I want, so basically I feel like I have to buy single sheets and pads. I feel like I'm being manipulated into buying way more than I really want, which tends to push me in the opposite direction so I buy nothing at all. Sigh.

It wouldn’t be so annoying if they stocked it online, but you can’t get all of the line online, some of it is in store only. It doesn’t appear as if any stores in WA or Oregon have it either. I hope it shows up and they carry lots of it.

I gave up on Joann’s stores in NorCal for my papercrafting. They stock the same old stuff year after year and it gathers dust on the shelf. If I drew an X on the bottom of most of their stamping supplies I could find them still there two years later.
Under the old CEO who just went to Penney’s they added some new stuff online but their discounts dried up a lot. Now they have a new CEO. He’s a Walgreen’s CFO guy who sued Walgreen’s because of the way they announced his departure. Don’t imagine he crafts much. I’m so cynical but they have so much stuff that never moves. I don’t need a bunch of paint your own birdhouses.

Shimelle is insisting it's not a limited release, so if it's going into the main aisle, my stores should get it. If she is right, then it's part of their revamp. The last time they did the paper section over, they got all brand new release products, too. I ended up with little by little when it was brand new. She is implying it is a special one (seems smaller than most paper pads, only 24 sheets and $9.99 regular price) so I wonder if AC is manufacturing Joann's exclusives for newer product lines to not upset other retailers stocking them, too.

Our Joanns and Michaels, and actually Hobby Lobby, have all greatly reduced their scrapbooking items. Our HL still has a full aisle of both sides of just stickers. And now almost a full aisle of all kinds of their brand of vinyl. Joanns got rid of a bunch of stuff, as did Michaels. M's has a lot more vinyl than they used to, a ton of planner stuff, and not much else. It's so disappointing, here in S. Tx we don't have any LSS anymore and those 3 stores are where I can look at physical product.

I went to our J’s last weekend looking for an album - they didn’t have ANY scrapbook albums. I asked and was told they are going to “Cricut only.” The open stock paper had several on clearance. It’s sad.

I don't think any stores are going to carry the new Designer Destination products until 4/1. The Crate Paper blog has a link to a list of the stores that will carry all the new lines. My local store is in that list, but when I called the store today to inquire about when the products will hit shelves the store manager had no idea what I was talking about.

I was going to tell you I could check when I stop in the Silverdale store tomorrow, then I realized who I was talking to How is the Silverdale Tuesday Morning? The good thing about Silverdale is that the TM is right by the Michael's and Joann's is only a couple of blocks away, so at least you can hit all three quickly and double back if you have second thoughts about something. The Joann's there is pretty sad though... (or maybe they all are?!) I haven't been in lately, but they have had the AC 12x12 paper pads including the Amy Tan and Shimelle pads so I'm assuming they will get the project pad eventually. Have fun at the TM! I think it's a pretty decent one. Really (really!) odd location, squeezed into a corner next to the Dollar store, the entrance is all but hidden. But the inside of the store is bigger than it looks and I've found some good craft stuff there in the past. Then again, I've never been to another one to compare. You'll have to tell me if it's any good compared to your usual ones!

And stores wonder why they can't compete with online shopping.
I hate Michaels and JoAnn. They don't have what I want, they play games with coupons, and always have long lines.
I want the real products, not your store-brand knockoffs.

I went to the nearest Joanne's today and it looked like all the scrapbooking supplies were 50% off, with lots of empty spaces. I wondered if they're getting rid of all paper crafting stuff.

I went to the nearest Joanne's today and it looked like all the scrapbooking supplies were 50% off, with lots of empty spaces. I wondered if they're getting rid of all paper crafting stuff. They do half off sales once in a while. They used to do them online, too, but that stopped after the holidays. They keep tinkering with how they do online stuff and so far, with one exception, their trial and error methods have sucked. At any rate, they are redoing the scrapbook section. They seem to do a pretty significant overhaul every 2 years or so, but don't touch it much in between. If they were like Hobby Lobby, who makes some sort of change to the department at least twice a year, they wouldn't see such stale sales in that area of the store. Scrapbooking is a lot like fashion, there is a really high expectation of turnover from consumers in the product because most paper companies do two big releases every year and then two smaller releases with a bit less fanfare in between the big two. If Joann's doesn't keep up with how consumers are used to acquiring product, they're simply going to continue becoming more and more unappealing.

While it's nice I see my stores there, the limited releases from Heidi Swapp that my state missed out on were BOTH listed at first and a corrected list went up a week or so later both times and neither of my stores were on that updated list. I'll believe it when I see it.

Maggie Holmes posted it should be there April first but the joanns site doesn’t reflect that. Can’t buy online and isn’t available in store even though my store is on the list. Do you think the website just wasn’t updated but they have this designer series stocked now?

I also went in to my local store (eastern PA). It was on the list as getting the products. Nothing was out yet, so I'll give it a little more time. Same thing happened with the new Heidi Swapp ink/pens, etc. It took them a couple of weeks to put it out even though on the website it said it was in stock in my store.

Joanns and AC should have given Shimelle a better idea of the set up time frame because her announcement saying it was coming when the roll out is still in the clearance of old product phase got people excited when there is probably another 2 to 4 week (maybe longer on the west coast where it is always later than the rest of the country) wait is only going to make a lot of people as frustrated as you and I.
