I've been buying and eating a lot of cherry tomatoes and the containers I got this week are the best tasting ever. I have small to medium (a bit larger than I prefer for one bite) kind of football shaped red ones and a container of yellow small round ones. I'm been eating around 7 to 10 at a time and usually 2 times a day.
How many cherry tomatoes is too much? Not sure if there is a bad amount of tomatoes but I know my MIL has a sensitivity to them so I'm wondering. Also, wondering if they give stomach problems to some.

Your intake sounds reasonable. I mean, it seems like nothing compared to a handful of chips.

We grow different kinds of tomatoes. My favorite way to eat them is fresh off the vine, especially when they've been warmed a bit by the sun. I don't think there is a wrong amount to eat but I CAN tell you that you shouldn't be pregnant and eat an entire tupperware container at one sitting (27 year old memory and it still makes me think ). LOL!

We usually only eat homegrown tomatoes in the summer and early Fall. (I’m in NY). About a month ago, “Produce Pete” from NBC recommended “Campari” Tomatoes !!!! Oh my ! They are awesome ! I highly recommend searching for these.

I hope there's no limit. I ate a sausage for dinner last night with a whole container of grape tomatoes. I love tomatoes.

I adore them. Taste like candy and I try not to have any actual sweets. The only thing I hate about cherry tomatoes or berries is all of the plastic packaging. Makes me feel guilty. Our planet is in deep trouble. So now I think twice before buying them.

I have the same issue as with the cherry tomatoes - all of the plastic they come packaged in.

Also, wondering if they give stomach problems to some. Funny, my MIL was the one who introduced cherry tomatoes to me. (Nice memory.) 7-10 at a time sounds about right to me. A couple of times a day also sounds fine. Yes, they can upset the stomach for some.

They are acidic so I would think there is probably a limit, but that would probably depends on what other acidic foods one eats. High acid diets can cause various health issues, so I would keep probably not eat more than a coupe several times a week.

From what I remember, my MIL's issue was a problem with nightshade. She thought she had fibromyalgia (she had a lot of leg pain for a period of around 6 to 7 months) but ultimately after seeing several doctors, one told her it was from her eating too many tomatoes. She had been consuming around 4 to 7 full size tomatoes a day because they were getting them free from a neighbor. After a few weeks of no nightshade vegetables, she improved.
Now this is so typical of my IL's. They would never ever waste free food and would continue to eat it even as it starts to mold just to be able to have free food.
I'll have to look for those tomatoes at Costco.

The hard and fast rule of cherry tomatoes: never more that 7 at a time. Period. End of discussion.
seriously, unless you’re vomiting undigested tomatoes (or they’re coming out someplace else) then who gives a fuck. Eat as many as you like!

One. I can't eat them plain. Mixed in salads with lots of other stuff and preferably some kind of dressing.

Zero for me - I'm allergic to tomatoes. I developed the allergy in my 20s when I worked for the company that owns Hunt's tomato products and I was having to sample waaaaayyyy too many tomato products during product quality evaluations. Kind of like how I developed a penicillin allergy when I was 12 after years of getting penicillin shots and oral medications for tonsillitis and strep throat. I still miss tomatoes to this day, especially pizza with tomato sauce and spaghetti!

I have been buying packages called Flavor Bombs at Wegmans. They are so sweet and taste like they just came off of the vine. Actually part of the vine is in the packaging. Great snack, but they so make my mouth sore a little. Add a little balsalmic glaza and basil to them and you are set!

I fry them in olive oil and Parmesan cheese and they go very quickly. They are a perfect side to any dinner unless allergic.

You know the 2-lb tubs you can get at Costco? I'm known to sit and eat the whole tub in one sitting.
So...I think you're ok.

I can only eat a few or else I get canker sores. But the thought of sitting and eating an entire container does make my stomach turn.

I found my people, LOL! Glad to hear from so many fellow tomato-lovers. I'm working my way through a tub of the Costco cherry tomatoes now - I throw a handful into my salad I take to work for lunch, and then usually some extras in a small tupperware (or the top layer of my salad container) to eat on their own. I also second the Campari tomatoes - those are the only "full-size" tomatoes I buy - love them!! They're especially good for tomato sandwiches, or with a little basil, mozzarella, & balsamic.

How many cherry tomatoes is too much? 1. I dont' like tomatoes. The idea of snacking on them makes me want to barf. I don't want to know if there's a limit to the number of Hershey candy coated chocolate eggs you should eat at one time. I'm sure I've exceeded it today.

love good cherry tomatoes, fresh from the garden.
First time they tried them and swished them around in the mouth, DD (toddler) was not impressed. Until I said "bite it". Eyes lit up and many a cherry tomato have been eaten straight off the vine between the two of us since then.
DS was not impressed and still isn't.
All the more for us! Only limit is how many are available/ripe.
