My daughter-in-law wants to do a wall in 6 month old grandson's bedroom.
I bought and paid for jungle wall decals for his room at their old place. She took them down last week because they moved this past weekend, and she feels they aren't sticky enough to put back up on the wall in his new room. I'm not buying them again, they're kind of pricey.
So I figured we could do a scene with vinyl, I ordered a bunch of different colors. How hard is this going to be? I want the tree in the scene to be at least 4' tall.

I have never tried it, but I know there are tutorials for how to do an oversized wall decal on Youtube. I'm pretty sure you somehow split your design, cut it into pieces and piece it together on the wall. Make sure you order a vinyl that is removable like Oracal 631. Also, do a tester as some wall textures don't work with vinyl, unfortunately.

Yes - do make sure you order Oracal 631 not 651. 651 is permanent and will damage walls.
Don't order an off brand. Get Oracal. Expressions Vinyl or Craft Vinyl have decent prices.
If their new home has been painted with low VOC paints - the vinyl may not stick at all.
A tennis ball is good for rubbing the vinyl onto the wall if you are having problems with it sticking - but again, with some paints - it might not stick at all.
Get transfer tape also.

The amount of vinyl it would take to do a 4 foot scene would be considerable. (I'm assuming you are doing more than a tree.). You also need to allow for some human error, especially if you have never done this before.
I'm not sure if you can override the size on the Cameo (and don't know anything about the Expression), but I'm not aware of how you can do it. So that means you need to cut the design into 2 foot sections. You can do a lot with 2 feet, however.
If the original designs aren't sticky anymore, you can try washing the backs to see if that helps. You could also use a spray glue to restick the designs.

The Cameo will cut up to 10' (ten feet)long (12" wide, and a little less than that when cutting without a mat). It can be a challenge to get the vinyl to feed through correctly at that length though. You must have the vinyl inserted in the machine perfectly straight. Feed the length that you want to cut into the machine manually, then back it out to the starting spot to make sure that the vinyl will feed correctly.
It is a very simple setting. Choose "no mat" and set your length to whatever you need to cut.

Look HereSilhouette School has good tutorials for this kind of thing on her blog. THANK YOU so much! That is exactly what I am looking for.
The only thing I am cutting that will be oversized is the tree, her tutorial was very helpful.
The animals will be larger (but not wider than 12") so I won't have to do any cutting and piecing.

Do let us see how it turns out! I was thinking about doing something similar for my niece's playroom

Make sure you settings are right for cutting full width. There is a spot to check for "cut to edge". If that is not checked, it doesn't cut the full 12"
It won't cut a full 12" if you are not using a mat though - but it will with a mat if your settings are right.

Thanks for that tip iowgirl . I did read about that somewhere and had written that down.
And plasticlight I will share if I think it's worthy .
