I put them in the dispenser. We have hard water here, but have a whole house water softener. I do not ever have extra soap on the dishes. Always squeaky clean.

I think I would go with what the manufacturer of the product says over the repairman. They are not made to go in the bottom of the dishwasher, hence I will not put them there. But then, I use the gelpacs instead of the tablets, anyways. I don't know. I'm pretty sure that tampon boxes say you can flush them, yet plumbers say not too, and most people heed the warnings. My first thought was that the septic guy said to stick to the liquid detergents and not even use the powders. And I make a point to listen to everything the septic guy says! (And every plumber I have ever known has said "no" to flushing tampons, too.)

I have always put them in the dispenser with no problem, but now I am going to throw them in the bottom and see how it works out.

I put the gel packs in the dispenser. But don't listen to me, I also flush tampons.

Hmmmm we have always just thrown ours in the bottom of the dishwasher. We use the gel packs and they don't fit to good in the dispenser.

I'm considering applying jet dry to my shower door, but haven't yet. I would love to know if this works!

I am too lazy to put it in the dispenser, I just toss it in. I guess my laziness pays off, lol ditto this. Everyone at work makes fun/pokes at me for doing it that way too. Now I feel justified in my laziness.

My DW is 10 years old and lately has been leaving a white residue on my dishes. I switched to the Cascade Platinum tabs after reading a thread over on the old board. Made it even worse. I think I will try the bottom of the dishwasher thing and see how it goes. We have hard water too.

Hmmm . . . that's interesting. I'm wondering if it's because you have soft water. We have hard water here and haven't been told not to use the dispenser.

My new Bosch has instructions to put them in the dispenser. The model I have also has a little shelf at the front of the middle rack. It is positioned directly under the dispenser so that when the little door pops open, the tab falls onto that little shelf. I've got the same model

My repairman said not to use them at all...to just use the powder. So that's what I do.

but...if you think about it washing machine tabs say to just throw it in with the clothes...not in the dispenser (don't they?) so the same might hold true for the dishwasher
gonna try jut throwing it in there on the next load

If you have soft water, avoid using the liquid gel. My DW repairman said it ruined the seal on my dishwasher, as the suds built up on the seal. I wrote to Proctor & Gamble about it and they reimbursed my DW repair! This was probably 10 years ago.

HA I did after I finished freaking out! That's what I get for not checking closely, but what had happened were those tabs were smack in the middle of all the dish washing stuff at the Dollar Store where I bought them. I think the Dollar Store people didn't know what they were either! LOL!

I'm another that always uses the dispenser. It's what the manual that came with the dishwasher said to do.

The repair man said that we were getting too much soap all at once when it is in the dispenser. We have really soft water here, so maybe it is a local problem. I have noticed that the dishes seem to still have some soap on them when I use them. It is mostly noticeable with the glasses. We switched to putting them in the bottom for this exact reason--to give the soap more time to dissolve and rinse away. Our cups would have a few bubbles when we filled them with water. I've never heard it as advice before, though.

My repair guy said that these aren't good for the appliance. That being said, I'm still using them until I finish the 2 big boxes I purchased at BJs.

This is the kind of dialogue I love about Pea's. You go through life thinking all is well, doing one load of dishes after another and then...BOOM...a pea posts something contrary to what you thought was "normal".
I have to admit I use a dispenser but noticed that the last box of Finish I purchased seems a bit tight and I really have to push the dispenser lid down - fearing I'll break it.
I'm going to break out of my comfort zone and throw it on the bottom next time. Whew - anxiety setting in already!

Unfortunately, I wasn’t home at the time, DH was. When I returned home, DH told me that we shouldn’t be using the tabs anymore per the repair guy. That the plastic (is it plastic???) doesn’t dissolve completely and it gunks up the dishwasher. But honestly, I’m going to continue using them until I run out, probably around the year 2030… ha ha ha!

I'm considering applying jet dry to my shower door, but haven't yet. I would love to know if this works! I don't know about this one, but I have a fancy weird glass faucet in my guest bathroom and have really hard water. It was always stained. I wound up buying some stuff from the local janitorial supply to get the hard water off, and then a trick from the internet said to use RainX on the glass to prevent further buildup. It works like a charm! I bet it would work in a shower too.
