I've been a member for quite a while, and actually began back on the old Two Peas board. Obviously, I've been rather quiet! I could only find two posts I made on this board and they were in 2014 and 2015! Anyway, I find myself in a position where I'd like to be able to ask you folks for some advice in the future and I thought it would just be polite to say "hi" and participate a little more before I start begging for help. I've been scrapping for about 15 years now. I do a combination of paper and digital, and for the past few years I've been doing mostly pocket scrapping in the 6x8 size. I've also done 12x12, some card making, and some home decor projects. A lot less than I'd like because my job takes just about everything I've got right now. I'm an elementary school teacher and next year will be my 40th and LAST year teaching. I'll retire in June of 2020 and will be moving to a new state where neither my husband nor I have lived before. We're leaving everything behind and starting an entirely new life in every way. No friends, no family. (Yes, we're crazy, but we can't wait. We've been planning this for 4 years now) The one thing we're not leaving behind is my scrap room! Gotta love my husband - he knew right from the start that all my "stuff" was coming with me! So, that's where I'll be asking some advice in the future. I'll be packing up a pretty full scrap room, taking the furniture and supplies. Most of it will be in storage for about a year. I know I'll have questions about the best way to accomplish that. Nice to meet you, and I look forward to participating a bit more than in the past!

Yea! That is very exciting! There's a thread on here recently about the Kallax from IKEA. Lots of good storage ideas.

40 years teaching elementary school - wow! You're a legend. What grade(s) do/did you teach? You must have seen some changes... welcome back

Wow! I retired from teaching in 2015. I can't imagine 40 years. That is a long time. Where are you moving?
Nice to meet you. I am an organizer. If you are looking for any kind of organizational help, I am your girl (like a few others of us on this board).

Welcome back to the pod. Your move sounds exciting! You’ll have lots of new adventures and experiences to scrap. There have been many threads about moving and organizing that you can read up on but definitely start your own to get advice on your specific needs.

Thank you for the welcome. I appreciate it. Just to follow up on a few things . . We'll be moving from coastal Florida to western North Carolina, in the mountains. Not only have I taught for 40 years, but I spent 31 of those years at one school, where I currently teach now. Over the years I've done a lot of different things. I currently teach the 4th grade Gifted/Advanced Work class. I've taught grades 3 - 5, taught a fine arts specials class, been the school literacy coach, taught Title I pull-out classes, team taught ESE inclusion classes, just to name a few. I have seen many changes and most of them are not good. I'm grateful I am where I am in my career, as I'm not sure what I'd do if I were younger. I couldn't keep teaching the way things are now in schools and society. As for the scrapping room, most of my furniture is from IKEA, except for a trestle table from Target. I love it all, especially my Expedit! I'm moving to an area where the nearest IKEA is far, far away. That's why this is the only furniture we're taking with us. I'm even selling my beloved piano before I get rid of my scrapping furniture! Again, thanks for the welcome. I look forward to participating more with you all.

Welcome back! I'm getting back into scrapping myself. A basement flood (all my stuff was up and safe!) made me clear out things and I'm FILLED to the brim with nostalgia and can't wait to get started.
And yay! One more year until your move!
