Hey everyone! I'm loving having a long weekend! No work tomorrow! My mum wanted us to cook a turkey for Easter dinner tomorrow but I wasn't into all of the work involved so we are grilling steaks instead I'll pick them up today Going to the grocery store is the extent of my activity today Here is the meme I posted on Facebook today ... I'm often too tired after work to cook dinner so my family has to fend for themselves a couple of times a week ... they always complain or at least have really sad faces ... oh, well Are you expected to cook every night for your family or are they independent? What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight?

That meme is so funny. Everyday at 4:00 I receive a text from Jeremy asking whats for dinner. The kids don't care but jeremy does...lol...
We are going down to MIL house today. She is serving ham, scalloped potatoes, and asparagus. I am taking a peach cobbler and wine.
I left two bottles of wine in my van last night! The van that we traded in. Jeremy went this morning to the dealership to get them out of the back. It would have made a nice gift for the next soccer mom who put Big Red....lol...
I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Love the meme! It's just DH and me and I do cook every night unless we're getting a pizza. Since we're at DS's townhouse, were going out for dinner to celebrate Easter since we'll be heading home late morning tomorrow. I made beautiful Easter cards for them and left them in my craft room. 🤪

Not sure about tonight. There is no rechauffe in the fridge so I am guessing something easy. Maybe turkey burgers. I have lamb chops for tomorrow.

Tonight is all about the leftovers. Tomorrow we are having a few extra family members over for Easter dinner at noon.

Dh does most of the weeknight cooking at our house. He hates deciding what to make.
Tonight we’re having Italian sausages with pasta and sauce out of a jar.

Have not made any plans yet. I keep trying to plan a fast-food dinner and he keeps turning me down. Something easy because we have a bunch of family flying in tonight in anticipation of my mom’s 90th birthday party tomorrow. I’m busy doing laundry and trying to hide the clutter. ha ha There’s no Easter here. I forgot to even boil any eggs. Maybe we’ll have a do-over next week when things settle down.

If I didn’t cook, my family would have cereal for dinner. Luckily for them, I made dinner today (salmon with lemon and garlic rice ). Busy day (rehearsals....again. The youngest kids are 8....and yes, it’s like herding cats.) I’m exhausted and have a cold, but worse: DD is getting sick. She’s complaining about a sore throat and a headache, and I’m more than a bit worried. Fingers crossed that she’ll feel better tomorrow.

I usually cook every night unless there’s rechauffe. DH is supposed to run to the grocery store and pick up tomorrow’s dinner since we are staying home. So I wanted him to pick up some chicken for tonight; because I thought he was going sooner than later.

I have a half a turkey breast in the oven. I will have it for leftovers/lunch all week. Headed to my cousin and his wife's tomorrow for Easter dinner. Will be nice to see two of his daughters and their boyfriends too.

I am making corned beef and cabbage so I can take some to DS tomorrow. It is his favorite and it was too warm out to make it last time he was home. No problem with that today. 40ish and rainy! Tomorrow's forecast is close to 70. We are picking up my mom and driving to ds' school to take him out for dinner. He has 2 final exams this week, so coming home for Easter would have been very stressful for him.

I'm having an artichoke tonight! Now, where did I get that idea?
DH will have a steak and a veggie.
Strange day here. We've been in the 70s and 80s, but today is cold, wet, and rainy and just 50 degrees. We've been inside watching TV and reading most of the day.

I had a big food day. I went out for brunch with a friend. I had Brioche toast with smoked salmon, whipped ricotta, cos, dill, caper berries, beetroot relish, sprouts and a poached egg. DSO and DS went to the football. I had to pick them up from the station at about 8:30pm, so DD and I decided to go out to dinner. We went to a Thai restaurant in the 'town square' at the local shopping centre, which is where the ice cream shop is at which DD works. There are heaps of restaurants there, and this is the only one DD hadn't tried yet. Every time we walk past it, it is packed, so we knew it must be good. We had: Salt & Pepper Calamari Crisp Barramundi with Caramelised Pork with Apple Salad, Herb, Peanuts, Dried shrimp, Red Chilli Dressing Rice Noodles with Peanut Sauce, Chicken, Vegetables and Egg Next time we go we are going to get one of the banquets, they looked amazing but I just wasn't hungry enough to try it this time.

DH keeps messing with the internet. It’s driving me bonkers. We had none most of yesterday which also meant no tv.
I am expected to cook most days. It never ceases to amaze me what dh will eat if I don’t plan something. Tacos- refried beans from a can on a tortilla with shredded cheese-not warmed up Not even in the microwave.
I made oven fry chicken, mashed potatoes & green beans tonight.

Are you expected to cook every night for your family or are they independent? I am very fortunate that DSO and I have always shared the cooking. And for the last couple of months DD has been doing most of the cooking. It's been a bit of a bummer lately because she's been house sitting for a couple of weeks so I've had to cook! jeremysgirl that peach cobbler looks AMAZING!!

I was on my own - or so I thought - yesterday for dinner, so I bought myself a 'heat and eat' lasagne from the supermarket when I did the shopping for Easter lunch. Just before dinner time, my nephew who had gone camping with mates arrived home - they decided to call the weekend short for some reason. I told him he was on hos own for food, so he had his mate Ubereats bring something around. I am off to spend the day with my DS, DDiL and family. Easter Mass first, then lunch, then my auntie who I haven't seen in ages is coming over for afternoon tea. Are you expected to cook every night for your family or are they independent? It is just DH and I now. I do most of the cooking on weeknights, as he often works late or is travelling for work. Dh does our weekend shopping and plans cooks the main meals on Saturday and Sunday. He also will menu plan for the week sometimes, if he's home. When we had children at home, they would cook, but usually only if told what to make.

I don’t eat artichokes but do you have to cook them or can they be eaten raw? I tried some that was in a pasta dish and it tasted challenging.

I do the cooking and when the kids are home I cook a lot more often. However, on hospital days dh does takeout or rechauffe. When I got the tube dh kept telling me that I didn't have to cook, but I'm happy to cook, because I can and it is the one thing I can do to take care of my family. When I have a really bad day then dh is great about doing rechauffe or picking something up.
We just finished watching The Mule. It was really good story.
Dh is going to have egg roll and chicken noodle soup from our favorite Chinese takeout place.

They’re like potatoes, we can’t digest them raw. I’m wondering if the artichokes in your pasta dish might have been canned? Canned artichoke hearts are very different from fresh artichokes.

I have no idea. I have had them hidden in things and still disliked them. I wish I liked them. Same as peppers and mushrooms.
