Ok...disclaimer here......I’m old! I don’t have any nor any desire to get any. I also haven’t read what everyone has written. When I think of tattoos I think of sagging ones. I’ve seen some sagging ones. They look just nasty. Kinda like a kid has scribbled on an arm or leg. Aren’t you, any of you concerned about the future look of the tatoos? My skin will be saggy and nasty anyway! All the better to have it covered with awesome color.

I don’t have any myself but both my kids do. My 24 yr old dd’s is special to her, to remind her that God has blessed her and she can overcome (she struggles with anxiety). My ds has a large Cross on his side. I don’t have a photo of it. He also has a sleeve started. I only have the first steps in my phone photos. Obviously it’s an eagle and flag. It’s been shaded in to connect it and not be so separate. He also now has a Navy pin up girl riding a missle on his upper arm which isn’t finished. He’s in the Airforce and his Dad is a 20 year retired Navy vet. It’s all very meaningful to him. My dh dh has an anchor and eagle on his upper arm that he would like to get touched up and every tattoo artist he’s spoken to says they won’t touch it because it’s “awesome” the way it is. Lol They call it vintage. Lol He got it in 1986 the year he joined the Navy. Attachments:

I'm 53 and don't have any tattoos yet. I'm planning one (or more) and honestly couldn't give 2 hoots whether they droop when I'm 70+. If anyone judges me for that, it's their problem not mine. I have friends who work in aged care and they love that the people they work with "have a story".

I have one on the inside of my left wrist. Our son was born too soon, and I chose his foot print. It’s just for me to look at and touch when I think of him, so it is white on my very pale skin, and to the right of center. I am happy to talk about him, but I didn’t want people to feel awkward if they noticed it and asked so I placed it where it was easy for me to see, but not really noticeable to others. It’s a happy memory for me, because even though he was tiny (his feet were about an inch), he was perfect and his toes were exactly like my husband’s.
DH has a much more elaborate tattoo over his heart with both hands and feet, his name (Austin) and wings.

Well here is another old pea and only have one beautiful non saggy Dragonfly tat on a shoulder blade. If I could afford it there would be several more in Steampunk style. I don`t have saggy skin and maybe the ones you saw were prison style or non professional ones, yes they can indeed look nasty. My DS has earned money selling designs to professional salons and has at least 4 Tribal, Oriental and 2Pac inks of his own (maybe more I don`t know of).

I have 4 and I’m itching for another in memory of my dad. I want to get his handwriting on me. Wow, that is a sweet idea. My dad died in 2005 and I would love one more day with him. I do have some of his handwriting in cards and letters. Thinking love, dad, in Polish, in his handwriting, would be a beautiful thing. And I'm not someone who has ever considered a tattoo of any type for myself.

My oldest DD has a small Hawaiian flower on her ankle, that she regrets getting. She got it when she was about 8-19 and it has run together and like blob. Neither of my other two,or DH and I have any tattoos, or want any.

I have two. I got my first one when I was 50 and my second one earlier this year with my husband, who got his first. My first one is a Minnie Mouse bow on my left ankle. My husband and I got couple tattoos...mine says to infinity and his says and beyond. I'm a huge Disney fan! My DS 23 has one tattoo...some symbol from World of Warcraft. I want a couple of more tattoos. I want a marigold for my grandfather and semi-colon for my son who tried and failed to commit suicide when he was 17.

This is a super interesting thread to me. I don't have any, but I have so. many. scars. from various surgeries I've had. I contemplated getting a mastectomy tattoo after I had that done, but never followed through. I've just recently had my gallbladder out, so that's another scar added to the collection and it's got me thinking again.

There are some BEAUTIFUL pieces/tats specifically designed to incorporate/camouflage scars! I have a keloid under my arm on my side from where I had breast reduction surgery. I should explore something to put there.

I don't have one yet and neither does DH, or our DDs (14 and 17). DH and 17 yo DD don't have any desire to get one.
14 yo DD wants to get at least one when she turns 18 and I am planning to take her and get mine at that time as well.
My dad traveled for business when I was growing up and always sent letters and postcards while he was away. Sometimes he would send me one even on trips when I was with him, just to be funny. He always signed them "Love, D" in his distinctive scrawl. He passed in 2004 and I really want to get "Love, D" on the inside of my wrist in his handwriting.
The 15th anniversary of his death was a couple of weeks ago and I asked DD if she would mind if I went ahead and got it done that day with the plan to add something else when we go together when she turns 18. She encouraged me to go ahead and do it when she realized the significance of that day but I hadn't done any research on who I wanted to do the tattoo so I decided to wait.

I can't get a picture to post but my dd is a type 1 diabetic and shortly after diagnosis had this tattooed on her rib cage "I>^V" which translates to "I am greater than my highs and lows"

I don't... DH has 2 of them.. one around his wrist of a motorcycle chain and an infinity one..I don't know what the represents other than he just liked it. The chain is for his love of motorcycles.
DD22 has one on the inside of her upper arm, just 3 small crosses.. like pencil thin.. and her boyfriend did the same but more "manly" crosses (he says).. same area but they are much bigger.. kinda wood/distressed looking.
DS23 (in the Air Force) as far as I know he doesn't have any.
I'm thinking about it.. but I have a hard time committing... my BFF got a very small cross and she wants me to do the same... so maybe.. I don't know... if anyone can talk me into it, she can.

I do. It's a mastectomy tattoo. It covers some scars, but leaves others that can still be seen. Each item is a symbol of something or someone. The hummingbird is for my Grandma (she had breast cancer also), the stethoscope is for my mom the nurse (also breast cancer), there is a red poppy for my Great Gma Franny (also breast cancer), the fleur de lis is for my husband, the saying is for my internet group of friends, the flowers mean that everything keeps going on, the compass means that I am never lost. I also have a private saying underneath my fake boobs.
I have to give all credit to the organization P-Ink (Pea Ink). I felt really out of place after my mastectomy, because I am a Previvor, but also had DCIS. I didn't need chemo or radiation after my BMX. But I started to volunteer for his organization and saw how moved women/men where by the gift of a tattoo. When I was then chosen, it was so special.
WARNING - it's most of my chest area. No nipple area (not that I have any). **If you have any negative comments about my tattoo, please keep them to yourself. It's the anniversary of my biopsy today and I am struggling with anxiety & depression.

My sister and two brothers and I got small star tattoos on our hand to remember our dad. He used to marker a little star on our hand when we were little. I have one sister who did not get one, but I love that the rest of us have the same. We are all in different cities but still connected.

I don't have any pictures but my dh has 4, I have 4, our ds (23) has probably 7 or 8 now and dd (18) has 3. I am getting ready to get another one.
I don't have any concerns about what mine will look like when I'm older. I got them because they mean something to me.

I contemplated getting a mastectomy tattoo after I had that done, but never followed through. I've just recently had my gallbladder out, so that's another scar added to the collection and it's got me thinking again. I had eleven scars across the front of my torso, from various surgeries, and from a serious assault. One day, when stepping out of the shower, I literally got lost in tears over the scars. I went the next day and had 'breathe' tattooed across the lower portion of my rib cage. It helps me remember that I am not the sum of my scars, nor am I defined by them. When I had my open heart surgery last year, I instructed my surgeon, to protect the tattoo. While he added six more scars to my torso, they did not phase me the way the earlier scars had. The scars mark me (and you) as a survivor, and I hope you learn to wear them with pride! I also have a cluster of stars on the upper side of one foot, and a short quote on my shoulder blade in back. Obviously my tattoos are subtle and easily hidden. My DD has about a dozen tattoos, some that she regrets. Frankly I admire the creativity and art of tattoos.

I have a terrible anchor on my hip (really my butt), but I like it because it brings back a variety of memories. And I have three swallows, each in a different color, representing my children. I got when my oldest was a senior in high school because swallows always return home. I'd like to get another one but I can't decide what I want. I saw one I like on Instagram; a girl got four important people in her life to each write the same four word quote and used one word from each.
