Does this happen to anyone else? I take a shower, get out, sweat. I walk around at work (a fair amount but not excessive) and I sweat. Breathing I sweat (a lot). What on earth is going on? I never ever used to sweat like this. I am soaking the backs of my tshirts and sweaters all the time. I am only 45 (for another month anyway) and don't think I am in perimenopause. Does anyone else just randomly sweat for no apparent reason? Am I missing a vitamin or mineral? I eat pretty healthily. Ideas?

I am 46 and am always hot. I started perimenopause about 10 years ago. Not until the last 2 years did I start with the sweating and hot flashes. It is horrible. I am hot all the time.

Yes!!! Just hot. No apparent reason just hot.
Ok maybe it's normal for this age. It's good to know I am not alone. I wore a cotton top to work today (like a summer sweater) and it got soaked.
Thanks for the validation. I guess this is the new normal.

It can be a sign of diabetes. Any chance you have Type II diabetes?

My sugar has always been excellent. That doesn't mean it is impossible but I doubt it. It sounds like menopause. I feel like a freak at work constantly blotting my face with kleenexes because I am so hot.
This is all normal right?

I would talk to your doctor. I thought I heard they can use botox injections to minimize excessive sweating but the article was about hand sweating if I recall correctly. It does sound like what you are experiencing is excessive even for menopause sweating. I'm 50 next summer and for a few years I've had a lovely problem of itching like crazy when I sweat. It's horrible. I just got a job driving a few hours/day in the Southern CA heat and holy heck, the first day I nearly went insane itching even with an air conditioned car. I really need to be in a cotnrolled environmental temperature.
Same thing happened on Saturday when I ran out to get lunch for my kids and take it to them at band. Cortaid/baby powder/Benadryl are my go to's lately.
Good luck finding a solution.

It's the start of menopause from the sound of it. Better get used to it! Why not speak to your Dr. Maybe HRT will help you.

What does HRT do? Reduce (eliminate HA!) the sweating, help with sex drive? I am interested for sure. Very interested. I need to see her this week and will bring it up with her. Thing is the darned periods are still coming without fail. I am talking 22-28 days like clockwork. Not heavier. Not lighter. Equally annoying!!! But they are still there.

Do talk to your doctor about HRT. I have always had excessive sweating, but it got worse as I got older, and even worse after my complete hysterectomy without HRT. There is a Rx antiperspirant that comes in a roller bottle and you apply it around your face and on your head or neck at night. It takes a few days to work, but it really does help. I know just what you mean though. Things that make me sweat excessively include pretty much anything with movement or effort. Climbing the stairs. Doing dishes. Getting dressed. Trying on clothes in a store (so embarrassing). I also sweat when I am anxious or excited. It's horrid. But know you aren't alone!

I had a friend who got Botox injected into her armpits to reduce sweating. She was in her early 20's and not anywhere near menopause. Her father had the same condition. Just sweating and sweating, no smell just lots of sweat. The botox paralyzed the glands I think. If it hadn't helped, her doctor said the next step was to operate out the glands(?). Not sure what the next step was, but it involved surgery. But my friend never needed it as the botox helped. She has since become pregnant, so NO, she was not in early menopause either.

My friend's sister had the surgery several years ago and it helped with her sweating issues. She was only in her 30's at the time, I think.
I'm in the perimenopause stage now, and feel like my body has no temperature control. I'll go from hot and sweaty to chilled very quickly.

I have the same problem and have for a few years. I thought it was just me too! When I started to have this profuse sweating a few years ago, I thought it was because I was overweight. But even after losing 35 lbs and getting to a normal range it hasn't improved. I also have a problem with being super cold (i.e. my hands and feet will feel like ice) in the winter. It's super frustrating. I'm now 45 and we just moved from NC where the summers were beyond unbearable for me.

Years ago I would barely sweat at all, even if it was really hot/humid. Ever since having DD (4) I sweat a lot more than I ever did (mostly just armpits) and it drives me totally crazy. Even the clinical strength Secret didn't help. The worst part is I'm not even hot, just sweaty. Ugh! I noticed that it's worse if I wear shirts or jackets with tighter/closer fitting armholes so I try to avoid them now. I'm chalking it up to perimenopause since I'm in the right age group for that. I would bring it up with my Dr. but she retired and I haven't been motivated enough to find a new one.

I got pushed into menopause when I was 42 due to chemo. Yes, it is so aggravating to sweat!!! I did exactly the same thing-on my whole body, not just pits. It was embarrasing and made me want to become a recluse. Thank goodness it finally subsided as I passed thru menopause. One thing that really helped was a clinical anti-persparant. There really wasn't anything that helped with the rest of my body. Good luck. It will go away, but it might take awhile.

I'm 38 and when my thyroid is out of whack I sweat like that. My doctor did say she wanted to monitor my thyroid so that could be something to discuss with her. My back is constantly soaking wet. It is NOT hot. I move around at work a lot. I will admit to that. I work in a busy store (love it there!) and I just sweat but OMG my tshirt, or blouse or sweater (Whatever!!!) is soaking wet by the time I am done. I used to exercise at the gym HARD. I would do the treadmill very fast, very intense etc and wouldn't break a sweat on my forehead. Now...OMG I got out of bed this morning and there it was again. SWEAT!

I was also going to suggest getting your thyroid checked! Could definitely be that.
