I was exhausted as the credits rolled. Loved the drum music at the start, the music makes a show for me and this one has the best music ever, so evocative and fits the scenes it plays with so well. Still think there is more to come as we have 3 extra length episodes left and surely they can't be all about Cersi and the battle for the throne...... or can they? ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) Will be rewatching tonight as I'm sure we missed bits, I missed a lot when Arya was hiding in the library, spooky music playing, and of course happened to be watching when the wight finally appeared! Girl power was certainly the theme of the episode.

Did Melisandre send Arya to kill the Night King when they were talking about the eyes- brown, green, then she said blue? I know she said "There is only one god, and his name is Death. And there is only one thing we say to Death." And Arya said "Not today." It's the eye thing that's bugging me. I was hoping some of those wights would tear into Cersei. Way back in season 3, when Melisandre bought Gendry, Arya approached her. Melisandre grabbed A's face and said, "I see a darkness in you, and in that darkness eyes staring back at me. Brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes. Eyes you'll shut forever. We will meet again." In Season 1, Syrio Forel, hired by Ned Stark, says to Arya, "There is only one god, and His name is Death. And there is only one thing we say to Death: 'not today'." Melisandre asks A, "What do we say to the God of Death" reminding Arya of that moment. Cersei, Littlefinger and Jaime all have green eyes. She already killed Littlefinger so may have already met that part of the prophecy. Or it could mean Cersei or Jaime.

Okay so all these responses, and all I'm seeing is the complaint that the scenes were too dark. Did no one else see the filter overlay like we did on our tv? Did you find that totally distracting too? that's what I meant when I said it was fuzzy and cartoony

So disappointed in this episode. My eyes are red and burning from straining so hard to see and understand what was happening onscreen. In my opinion the director did a major disservice to the show, the cast and loyal viewers by filming this way. We changed out tv to cinema mode and that made it possible for us to see it. We had some graininess, but at least we could see it! I ended up with a terrible migraine. I couldn't see most of the episode! I kept flipping through my settings hoping one mode would be better and watched most of it on cinema mode, but it was like trying to look through a fog.

After watching the end scene again, all I can say is, I want a dragon!

So just talking to my ODS who called to ask me what I thought of it. I told him I was over Bran and there better be a much better playout of this three eye raven thing. Loved the Arya ending. I asked why they didn't use the dragons to wipe out the dead to begin with. He said there was a plan and they were trying to follow it. Once the Dothraki got wiped out, she left the plan. Jon, being, Jon, followed. That caused them to veer off plan. Whatever... I also mentioned wiping out the Unsullied. He said that no, there were some who did get pulled back in and that Grey Worm was still alive. He also thought the idea of being in a crypt was not well thought out either.
I feel like I need to watch it again since I know what is happening and I won't be watching through my fingers but I just don't know if I will have the time or desire. It just wiped me out. I feel like I need to keep some emotions for the last 3 episodes.

What an episode! It might be the best episode of the series for me. The darkness and smoke just brought home how chaotic and impossible it was for them.

Rewatching the episode right now on our 4K TV - last night we sat in the den which has an older TV - and it is much easier to see. I'm not sure I notice a filter, just lots of snow flying around and the darkest blacks look kind of like an oil slick? Not sure how else to describe it. The black sky looks oddly wavy in places.
Still some amazing cinematography.

Too bad no one thought to give Theon some Valyrian steel. You knew he was Bran's guard, you knew the night King was coming for Bran. Wouldn't it have made sense?

I thought the spear he had was dragonglass. I am pretty sure it works to kill White Walkers too. He just couldn’t get it done, understandably.

Not a follower but an interested bystander. I watched last night’s episode and I wanted to say that watching that was like having cataracts again. Everything was dark and hard to see. So, not much of a fan.

The darkness of the video didn't bother me! As someone who had their eyes closed most of the episode I can tell you the audio was bright and clear (and disturbing)!

I really didn't notice it being that dark last night. I mean it was night and all, but definitely not something that made it hard for me to follow the action. I'm rewatching tonight with the hubby (I didn't wait for him ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) ) - I'll see if I can spot the filters.

One thing I have wondered that has never been explained is the babies that the Night King turned blue eyed. I assume they are the long haired riders. Do they age? Are they dead? I would like to see what became of them.

Well now I read an interview that said he had to be stabbed right in the heart where the dragonglass was pushed in to turn him into the Night King. I guess Theon was unlucky and Arya was lucky.

Biggest "Oh, shit!" moment I've seen in a long time--the Dothracki lights slowly going out. We think the two dragons are still alive because blue light was always seen coming out of the dead one's neck when he was breathing out blue fire. I loved it, but my heart rate was high the entire episode!

EVeryone keeps asking where Bran was when he warged (sp?).
I mentioned it in another thread that I think the raven has three eyes to see the past, present, and future.
I think he was looking at the near future and knew how this was going to end. He told Theon he was a good man as if he knew he wouldn’t kill the NK. And he was so calm as the NK approached him, as if he knew Arya would save him. Last week, I think he was the one who suggested he wait by the tree, again as if he knew it was necessary for this all to play out.
I don’t know if he can see everything in the future, or only what the future chooses for him to see. But if he can see the future, then he will still be a key against Cersei and his plot arc is still running strong.

Poor Sam! I thought back a few seasons ago when he killed the whitewalker that they were finally going to give him some balls. But then they made him spend most of the battle on his back crying like a baby. I know everyone can't be tough, but geez they made him look pitiful... And did Jon just look at him and walk on by on his way to Bran? I need to go back and watch and see if that was 2 different scenes.
And I know the Night King is dead, but are the Dead really dead this time???

I asked why they didn't use the dragons to wipe out the dead to begin with. He said there was a plan and they were trying to follow it. Once the Dothraki got wiped out, she left the plan. Jon, being, Jon, followed. I don't know how us as watchers were supposed to figure out that the plan got screwed up... in my opinion, they needed to do a better job of explaining this kind of stuff DURING the episode. I mean, come on- we're watching something visual, with not a lot of dialogue. Was there a scene in the previous episode where they explained their entire battle plan, play by play? If there was, I don't remember it- there's way too much happening at once, in tiny little bits and pieces. We shouldn't have to watch youtube videos of 'GoT Explanation videos' to understand the episodes- we should be able to follow along while they're being aired. I understand why they had to wipe out the army of the dead and the Night King in one fell swoop (otherwise the undead army would have grown, etc. etc.) but the fact that it was all wrapped up so neatly in one episode / one night just bothered me. Either the battle with the undead is the 'real' battle of the series- in which case it shouldn't have only taken one episode to defeat them- or the battle with Cersei for the throne is the 'real' battle-- in which case the threat of the dead shouldn't have been played up NEARLY as much as it had been the last 7 seasons. That's my main disappointment with the way this has gone down, anyway... And did Jon just look at him and walk on by on his way to Bran? ^^^ yup, he did. He had to, basically. He couldn't save them both, and he had to choose Bran.

I have been reading about the Night King story. I don't think it is over. There are still 3 episodes left, and I can't believe it just ends like that. Not that it wasn't a massive battle.
I am wondering if the Craster boys that the Night King turned into blue-eyed babies will play a part at some time. Will there be another Night King?

crimsoncat05, no I don't think it was brought up in any previous scenes. ODS is a digger and he will search out stuff after the fact. Plus he works with a bunch of tech geeks so they have their ways of getting info. I am sure it was a YT video that brought it up. I don't think it was in the aftershow. Of course it could have been. He listens hard to that part, I don't.
