This week I have really dry skin patches on my face. Like nothing I have ever had before. The skin is flaking off in chunks. It is also red and a little raised. Not all over my face-mostly just on my chin mainly.
Nothing has changed in my skin routine (same face wash, same Ceravae Moisturizer or Clinique Moisture Surge Moisturizer). Same exfoliation that I've done for years. Nothing new food wise. I *am* stressed but nothing over the top. Not a bunch of sugar. The weather isn't super dry or hot (its actually very humid and rainy).
To me, this feels more like 'not just dry skin'. This is over the top. Doesn't itch.
What am I over looking? For real - nothing skin care wise is new. Same routine for months now and had no problem.

No new laundry detergent, did you clean your phone with a chemical product? Otherwise I might look at photos of eczema or psoriasis. I’m not sure if eczema itches, but my psoriasis doesn’t always.

No new detergent. I cant think of any new chemical cleaners either. I did google eczema and psoriasis. If I had to choose what it looks most like, I'd say Eczema but not as bad as the photos I am finding. I wonder if you can just randomly get Eczema as an adult? I've never had any issues with my skin (not sensitive, etc) other than pimples when I get my hormones.

I'd go see my doctor ASAP. This is sudden and unusual, so it should be checked out bu a doctor. Also, skip the exfoliation. That's really hard on the skin.

It is an autoimmune disorder where your system is telling your skin cells to rejuvenate too quickly. It can have some severe consequences and it is treatable.

They think it is dry skin or eczema. See a derm and ask to have it biopsied.

It sounds like some eczema spots I get sometimes. They don’t really itch, but they are bumpy and red, or super white even. I haven’t figured out the trigger for them. Mine are about the size of a dime and a quarter, on my left arm.

If it turns out to be psoriasis, make sure your derm asks you questions about potential psoriatic arthritis too. You can definitively have skin psoriasis without the other, but they can occur together.

This winter I had some periods of really dry patches on my cheeks as well. I have never had that before. It only lasted a few days to maybe a week. I just moisturized well (I used Dr Jart Ceramidin cream) and used a BHA product (I use that anyway). I figured mine was due to the weather, but that doesn't seem to be the case right now. Hopefully yours gets better soon! Have you been drinking water, eating healthy fats, etc?

In fact, I've cut out almost all sugar + really am doing well on wearing clean. Then this happens, lol.

I get seborrheic dermatitis on my face, which gives me dry, flaky spots. It looks a lot like psoriasis (which my mom had), but my derm says it’s not. No moisturizer will make it go away. If it’s a small flare, a little bit of dandruff shampoo will clear it up, otherwise I’ve got a prescription cream.

Moisturizer doesn’t seem to be helping at all.
