I was reading comments last night about the show and most of them were about the background music being to loud making it difficult to hear the dialogue. You're not alone on that.
My youngest daughter missed the bus this morning, so I drove her to school leaving my older two daughters home. When I got home ALL of the lights in the house were on. Why? Creepy clown! lol

Glad to know it wasn't just me, lol.
I know I'm getting old, but I think I'm just so tired of all of the over the top sex stuff in shows these days, and this one was right up there. I hope the show is more than sex and erotica.

I really thought that scene with the candy striper was unnecessary. I understand it showed how Jessica Lange's character got the candy striper outfit so she could visit the twins, but was it really necessary to show all that?

Sweet Jesus that clown!! I had to keep reminding myself that under all that creepy makeup was just the guy who played Drew Carey's brother on the Drew Carey show. It helped.
I am so in love with the opening sequence for this season! I find it to be so visually stunning!
Clearly we will be exploring the word "freak" and how it applies to sex and physical appearance this season. I'm curious to see where this goes.

I watched it on my lunch break in the full light of day and it still made me jump! Lol! Damn that clown. He actually is wearing another clown's skinned head for a hat. As for the gratuitous sex, they seem to do that in every season. I agree it's unnecessary but it adds another level of degradation and filth to the ambience of the show. And to be honest, Lobster Boy freaks me out more than that psychopathic clown does. That's just nasty!

YES! That was so annoying. I have liked all seasons except for Coven - too boring and didn't finish it.

I watched this last night, can't say I was to impressed. I loved the opening sequence. The clown was awesome, I love the make-up on him! I don't get freaked out about clowns though. The story line is intriguing, but a bit slow. I hope they pick it up some. Jessica's character will need to grow on me a bit more. She bores me a bit. I'll keep watching & I have hopes that this will be a good season.

I have to say that if I have to listen to Kathy Bates and that horrid accent the entire season, I am going to turn into that psycho clown.
Dh and I were not that impressed with it but will keep watching.

Where is Kathy Bates accent supposed to be from? It struck me as a bit of bad Australian, mostly American. Is there a region in the States that have this particular accent? It just seemed all over the place to me, like she would change her accent three times in every sentence.

I visited the set of this show a couple of months ago, it's in New Orleans. I've never seen an episode, so didn't know really what I was seeing in regards to the show. The tent that is the main character's house is really cool and quite large. The hospital room is really neat too, everything in there has been transformed for the show, including all of the medicine labels on the bottles in the cabinet. Now I see why my daughter waited so long to put the pics on FB, she was timing it to the new season. The name of the show just scares me, I'm a huge chicken, so won't watch it.

This one doesn't have my daughter in it and all of the others do. I would actually have to also figure out how to blur her to post the others.

Sooo......the other night, I was feeling BRAVE and decided to add "Asylum" to my Netflix list......Within about 10 (or was it FIVE?) minutes of the first epi, I said to myself "REALLY? You thought you wouldn't be too afraid to watch this???" and promptly deleted it. I would like to check out "Coven" someday, maybe---since it's not as SCARY-- 8-)And didn't someone here mention that it made them a renewed Stevie Nix fan? (LOVE her and Fleetwood Mac!!!) ......did she do lots of songs for the show? I also heard the acting on "Coven" was fantastic. As far as "Freak Show", I haven't watched the second epi yet, but looking forward to watching it today! I was a little "meh" about the first epi, but I wanna see what happens....I also have a hard time with Kathy Bate's accent......

Apparently, Kathy Bates' accent is supposed to be from old-timey, working class Baltimore, according to my Google skillz.

Hate to say it, but I really, really am not liking this season. I think it is, simply put, stupid. I rolled my eyes more the second episode than the first. There's nothing "horror" or "scary" (except for the clown and Jessica Lange's makeup lol). I get it--it's about freaks, and there's plenty of them. They're made fun of, avoided, looked down upon, etc. So is the season about them trying to be just like other people and accepted? And again, the over the top language is just a turn off to me.
Several people here didn't care for Coven, but that was my favorite season. To be honest though, I only watched the first season and then Coven--Asylum didn't interest me. I thought the acting was great, there was definitely a creepy feel to me, but not over the top close your eyes feel. There was some sex, but the season didn't center around that.

amym---how cool that you and your daughter got to visit the set !!!! I also love the opening sequence, and I liked the scene in this epi where even the ferris wheel even looked creepy because of the angle they filmed it .. I'm from D.C originally, so I 've heard lots of people with varieties of Maryland and Pennsylvania accents, so I was pretty sure that's what Kathy Bates was imitating. I didn't google till yesterday, just like scrubologist I thought it was funny that the NY Times said it was "Southern or Appalachian".....what ?!?!?!! Ohhh, so the CLOWN is the sweet hubby from the movie "Fargo" !!!! Who knew !!!! He actually didn't creep me out until his fake mouth came off and you could see what was REALLY underneath.... OMG, that BORED boy and his mother----I had to rewind twice to understand what she said ---"Don't run off--we can paint your nails, play paper dolls, anything you want !!!....Something GHASTLY always happens when you run off in a MOOD!" I hope we get to see more of Patty LaBelle, too!

I felt sure that Kathy Bates was either using some kind of Pennsylvania Dutchy sounding accent or Eastern Shore, Maryland, so I guess Baltimore makes sense.

I have last night's recorded and I'm still trying to decide if I should watch it or just dump the season pass. It's just not keeping my interest at all. I would like to see if they develop Pattie Labelle's character though. So torn. . .

Why don't I get invited to any parties with a guy with a lobster claw? LOL. That would have livened up those Creative Memories parties I used to get invited to.

Does anyone remember Nip/Tuck when Sean wanted to operate on his baby's hands because the baby was born with Lobster claw hands? And his wife went and met with a woman who had hands like that.
