Did anyone see the facebook post from October Afternoon saying that a document December type kit would be available this holiday season? I like their stuff, but am not confident they can keep a deadline.

Yeah, and did you see their response regarding Treasure Map? Now they're predicting in stores for "early Spring arrival." Um, 2015, I'm hoping. As crazy as OA makes me, I was fondling . . . erm . . . going through and petting . . . PUTTING AWAY is what I meant! … my OA Apple Cider and Girl Talk last night. Dang, those papers and embellishments make me happy. Like, so happy it's embarrassing. They sure know how to design and make what I love. Sigh.

They have done a DD kit at least the past 2 years and it's been out timely. Not like their other lines. They usually have some new stuff that is exclusive to the kit and mix it with existing holiday lines.

I love OA papers. I can't seem to find any new papers in any stores near me (which is frustrating) but I have found some past lines for 25 cents a sheet. Never a whole collection, but I find that I can mix and match their Christmas lines pretty well. For that price, I'll keep making things with the old stuff as I continue my search.

Man, I hear you on loving their stuff... I spent a bunch on Girl Talk and All Boy - the entire collections - recently because I just.could.not.resist! It wasn't cheap but I have a little girl and a little boy and well I'll for sure use them. Right? And then I saw Apple Cider and Milk Money on craftysteals... I caved. I'm having a serious love affair with OA right now!! I can forgive them their idiosyncrasies because their stuff is SO darn cute and unique.

Thanks for the message. I read the comments on the recent Facebook posts & am baffled how the closing of a large online retailer (aka 2Peas) interferes with the production of the Treasure Map line, as cited as a reason for its delay. I'm also disappointed OA hasn't communicated the dates for the Treasure Map release & the new line reveal to customers after repetitively being asked for months. I'm even more surprised retailers are still willing to do business with OA, given its chronic unreliability; the company cannot even meet its own self-imposed deadlines!
With no mention of Daily Flash-Summertime, which was quietly removed from the company website earlier this year, I expect it has either been canceled OR is the "new" line that's being unveiled next. Given OA's track record (i.e. the last lines introduced have taken over a year & counting before hitting shelves), it seems ambitious for OA to attempt a warehouse sale, Document December kits, Santa Sacks, Treasure Map release, & new line reveal in the short time span of two months? I won't be attending the warehouse sale (it's 1200 miles away), buying a kit or sack (since I already have everything I want from all holiday & most recent lines), believing Treasure Map is available until it's physically in my hands, & holding my breath for the new line (since I'll likely be one or two years older before it's even available for purchase)!

Sooo...who owns the retail store Paper Made that is located next to their warehouse space that I saw advertised in a recent blog post? Maybe that is what is really holding everything up? Interesting, very interesting!

It is my guess that the 2Peas closing could have affected them financially. As in 2Peas owed them money that they could not then reinvest into making product. I have often wondered how the closing of Archivers and 2Peas affected them as when businesses go bankrupt they often don't pay back all of their creditors in full or there are delays in payments. So maybe they did not have a lot of liquid cash to pay for production of new product. Also, there is the possibility that the closing of these companies has affected their order sizes. It is always cheaper to order in huge amounts and if these stores are no longer making large orders it may be difficult to purchase in large enough quantities.
I love OA, I know they have their problems BUT their product when it does arrive is PERFECT. Well made, quality product in unique prints and usable embellishments. Since Sassafras is gone they are my favourite company by far. As much as I like some of the companies under the AC umbrella, it is clear that quality control is not nearly as good these days, which is sad. Therefore, I still support OA, and don't mind if they take their time.

Therefore, I still support OA, and don't mind if they take their time. Thanks for addressing my confusion. I did not know 2Peas had filed bankruptcy & thought OA still printed its own products. OA Treasure Map was expected last summer, long before 2Peas deleted its site. Plus, it appeared over the past few years 2Peas ordered low volumes from every vendor; I doubt it choosing not to carry a particular manufacturer/line or closing could derail the production of a single line for any company. Given its poor business practices, OA likely has never been in a financial position to extend credit to any retailer, especially one as unstable as itself!
Although I also like OA products, they are not without production/quality issues. I will no longer buy OA letter stickers, unless in person, due to misprinting that makes them completely useless (& the company never responded/addressed the issue). Delays happen, not usually as part of your business model as with OA, but the inability to communicate reliable deadlines to retailers/consumers & address their concerns is unnecessary, disrespectful, &, IMHO, will inevitably lead to the company's failure! Until then, I will enjoy creating with their products when I can find them in person (which has become harder due to fewer retailers willing to deal with OA's chronic unreliability & less brick/mortar LSSs in general)!

I love OA products and their timelines can be annoying, although its been less annoying to me over the years, as I have a nice stockpile of it. I'm just glad they seem to be sticking around. I thought a later year release of Treasure Map didn't make too much sense. Just not the ocean/bright theme time of year. That would mean they must not have any fall/holiday release. I used a lot of Apple Cider last season, I would have been interested in a new fall collection. With the new DT, you would think they would be lining up new products for them to work with.
Their warehouse sale starts today! Love that they are offering single sheets for purchase. And I'm also curious about the Paper Made shop. Wonder if they are actually opening it (note there is an "our" in the line for signing up for crops in their future crop room)? I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to make a trip there....sadly, leaning towards not going, since I just haven't been productive enough to justify it (plus, I'd have to go through and inventory what I have before I go and I just may be feeling too lazy for that...hahaha).

I went to the sale today. It was my first time going and it took me a bit to figure it out.
They had a few collection packs ($10), a lot of letter stickers(Daily Flash $2), paper by the sheet (10 for $3 and you have to buy in 10's). I am not super familiar with their lines, so I am not sure how complete they were. There was a couple of Christmas lines, a travel line and a Halloween line. There was lots of stuff and I spent way more than I was planning to.
The lighting in one part of the ware house was very poor, but they had the open stock paper in a well lit room.
One thing I did not like- they did not make it clear (until I was about to check out and did not have time to go and grab the additional items with out waiting again in a very long checkout line) that you would get charged the price (ie 2 for 6) whether you got 1 or 2. I was a bit upset that I paid 4.00 for one sheet of 12x12 stickers that I thought were any sticker sheet on the table were 5 for $4. The sign on the table said 5 for 4 dollars, but was not clear that it was the 6x12 stickers only. The lady counting my stuff did not say hey - you only have one, you should have 4 or what ever the number was.
I did get 2 of last years Santa Sacks. I found that a lot of what I bought separately was in the boxes (you can't look at them prior to buying), so I think if I went again, I would buy the Santa Sack first, go out and look at what was in it and then shop the open stock.
I spent way more than I was planning to! i think I am going to go through the Santa Sack boxes and try to sell the duplicates and the stuff I do not see myself using on Craig's List.
Be prepared to wait in line to check out. The people don't do this very often, so the check out process was slow.
Would I go back next year? Probably. Now that I know the process, I would be better prepared.
I asked when the product lines were releasing. The guy said that Treasure Map is supposed to ship in December for spring release and others would follow.

I went to the warehouse sale and the new store. I found quite a few papers that I didn't buy last year, newer embellishments and some clear stamps at the warehouse sale. When I was there, they didn't have all of the signs up yet telling you "buy 4 get one free" or whatever the deal was, so I didn't know what the deals really were when I was picking out that stuff, and once you get up to the checkout you can't go back to grab one more.
The Paper Made store was very nice but laid out kind of weird with a bunch of little rooms. I could see where it could feel a little claustrophobic in there if it was crowded. It's not a huge store but they had it merchandised well. Some of the brands I saw out were Crate Paper, Basic Grey, Doodlebug, lots of American Crafts brands (Pebbles, Maggie Holmes, Amy Tangerine, Shimelle, etc.), Echo Park, Simple Stories, some Tim Holtz and of course OA. The one lady working said that they still had stuff they needed to get out on the sales floor but didn't have enough time to get put out yet.
They had a nice selection of Stickles, Distress Stains and dabber paints, Tim Holtz ink pads, refill inks and ink applicators, Gelatos and other kinds of stuff for mixed media. There were some rubber and cling stamps from Tim Holtz, Art Impressions, Lawn Fawn (some with matching dies), and a few other brands. They had some of the different Sizzix dies that the boxes don't stock as well as a decent selection of thin dies from a few different companies. I didn't get a chance to see the crop room at all. All in all it's worth a trip over there if you like the brands they stock (which I do) because most of those lines aren't readily available anywhere else in the Twin Cities.
They had a Now Hiring sign in the window and the grand opening will be next weekend. I hope they fill up some of the empty wall spaces with projects, layouts and samples. I don't know that I'll get over there all that often because it's a 40 minute drive one way, but I could see making the trek when I'm looking for something I need or want that they might be likely to have. I like to see things in person, and it will be nice to have a real store in the area again.

I just don't let the delays bother me. I just buy it when new stuff comes out. I really love their products. I can't help myself! I did a layout with Woodland Park a few days ago and fell in love all over again! I love their Daily Flash line, I just loved my pages with Milk Money this year! There are very few lines I haven't liked. My scrappy world is better with OA in it, despite their production delays and business weirdness!

I wish they'd deliver more consistently, but whatever. I buy it when I find it.
I went to the warehouse sale Thursday. It was well laid out, but I was a little frustrated when I checked out and they told me they had lots more to put out. Oh well...I guess it just saved my money.

I'm completely envious of those of you who were able to attend the OA warehouse sale!!
I'd totally have just backed up our Sante Fe up to the doors, handed over my CC, and started loading up!!
