I am doing some research for my DH and I was wondering what other people's definition of a leader was. And also what traits would someone have to have/show to be considered NOT a leader.
Thanks

I think one important indicator that someone is NOT a leader is the inability to take responsibility. Even if it's for another person's actions. A leader must be able to shoulder the responsibility of the *whole team.*

I think a leader is a person who can influence others toward a vision or action. Whether that vision or action is positive or negative is situational.
I am a lead by example leader, my boss is a lead by consensus leader, my husband is a lead by influence leader. His context is very different from mine so his leadership style is more appropriate for his workplace.

A leader leads by example. This means that the leader is a person who will do what he says he will do, on time and on (or under) budget.
A leader is professional, does the "do diligence" when required and treats people on the team with respect. The leader will give out assignments to the team members and will respect the team members to do their job, on time and on (or under) budget. The leader will be there for consultation about a project and instills confidence to the team to do their job as described.
