Whether you buy 8x8 or 6x6 albums, use paper bags, or make your own using stack the deck (or similar binding), tell me about your process. How often do you make them? How long does it take? Do you make them only when you have pictures to scrap or do you make them ahead of time and add pictures later? Have you made a travel journal before a trip? What are your favorite themes? I used to make minis all the time. I took a years long break from scrapping and I can't seem to get back into making minis even though I want to. Although, I have made two 8x8 vacation albums in the past year or so that I really love. I've also had pictures of another vacation printed and I'm expecting my supplies for it to be delivered for it in the next week. So I better get with the program! I'm also interested in making a mini just for instagram beach pictures. Somewhere along the way I think I turned scrapping into a responsibility instead of just a fun thing to do. I have to stop doing that. A random day at the beach is not the precious never to be forgotten memory that I'm making it out to be. We made sand castles and ate some sandy chips. It was fun. I need to let my scrapping be more about fun than a chore. Thanks for the free therapy session. Feel free to link your minis or anyone's who has inspired you. Here is a mini using an Ikea frame. I love it! Heidi Swapp mini
And here is another that I'd like to try that's perfect for instagram pics Pink Paislee mini

I make minis all the time but not for myself but because I have an Etsy shop. I don't use premade albums, I make my own. my process is simple: decide what kind of album I want to work on. these days it's all occasion envelope based albums. I choose the papers and start layering from the base pages all the way to the smaller embellishments and stickers.
making as many albums as I do, you would think it would become a chore but it's still very fun to me. using new papers keeps it fun. changing around the layouts make it fun too. the only time it feels like a chore is when I have to photograph them and do the listings. that part is not fun. I have four finished albums that need to be listed but I keep putting off because I always start a new album.

My 'regular' scrapbooking is 8x8... I use WRMK albums and page protectors and am happy with their quality... I usually use one or two 3x4 photos, but I've used up to five... I don't feel like I do anything that differently than if I was making a 12x12 LO, or how I see other putting together their 12x12 LOs...
I like that even after I cut out an 8x8 piece from a 12x12 paper, I have a 4x8 and a 4x12 strip left over... I feel like I can really make use of both sides that way, and the strips are big enough to turn into PL cards or use with card making... I also like that since the albums are smaller, I can fit them easier into my bookcases... A 4x3 on an 8x8 is pretty much the same ratio as a 4x6 on a 12x12 so it's easy enough to use sketches or scraplift...
The only place where I notice a difference is with some of the really large embellishments - they can feel huge on an 8x8... I got over my fear(?) of cutting embellishments in half or into parts, and I actually it now...lol

Papersilly, your albums are beautiful! I'm amazed that after so many minis you still love it.
Penny, I loved scrapping 8x8 for my last two vacation albums. I liked using 3x4 pictures, too. I can see why you'd choose that size for all of your scrapping. I didn't make the connection between 3x4 pictures on an 8x8 layout and 4x6 pictures on a 12x12 layout until I read it in your comment and then mentally said, "Duh!" No wonder those layouts came together so quickly and easily for me. I always loved using 4x6 pictures on 12x12 layouts. I also like four 3x3 pictures for a grid. I checked out your blog and I love your layouts. Your style really appeals to me.

I make mini albums. I started about 2 years ago after being inspired by some you tube videos. I have given all of them away except for one that I sold to a friend's coworker. Everyone I have gifted them to has really enjoyed them. I make my own albums using cardstock or envelopes. I mostly use the stack the deck binding method. Whenever I use the hidden hinge method, it just doesn't come out neat enough and my pages are crooked. I print my pictures at 3 1/2 by 5 because I get great pricing as a club member at a local photo shop that has amazing photo developing. I have a deep obsession with paper and sometimes I will make a mini album just because I want to play with the paper! For you tube inspiration, I like Kona Raven, Rina Meyers, My Sister's Scrapper and Scrap So Much. I really love Rina Meyers' albums. She is the queen of shabby chic albums.I watch her videos over and over and buy lace and try to be shabby but that not is where my creativity takes me! Cathy at SomuchScrap and Kona Raven are masters at flaps.

I love making mini albums! I made them usually as gifts. I like trying different things out on them. Like different binding ideas...sometimes ill make them out of file folders or paper bags. Just depends on my mood.
