I think I have roughly 30 stencils, most of which would be around the 6x6 size. Right now I have them all attached to a binder ring. Hasn't been a bad system but it's a bit of a PITA to go through them when I want to use one. I just bought some "Pixie Spray" for temporarily adhering stencils, which is supposed to help (stop) with bleeding, which of course I have yet to use... ... but the problem will be that once I spray the back of the stencil, I won't be able to put it back on the ring because it will stick to the others. I watched a video on YouTube recently where the person is placing them on a piece of freezer paper and storing them in Brutus Munro storage pockets, which looks like a great idea, but those storage pockets are pricey! Anyone have an alternative idea?

I found some divided 12x12 page protectors (I want to say WRMK) that had four 6x6 pockets so I store all that size in them.
For the other sizes, I also use page protectors, but in assorted sizes.
I keep them in a 3 ring binder.

I like the idea of the freezer paper after using the spray. I just keep mine in a 12x12 box...but the majority of my stencils are 12x12. The box I use is decorative, but an Iris container or pizza box would work just as well.

Mine are in an open top 12 X 12 Cropper Hopper. none of the used ones are still in their packages. Now that the ch is fuller, they are a pain to remove and replace b/c the edges catch on each other. None of mine have the sticky backs.
Can you glue two pieces of butcher paper together with the waxy side out, and then put one stencil on each side and put the paper into a page protector? When you need one of the stencils, pull the whole sheet out of the protector, use & clean the stencil, then stick it back on the butcher paper and slide it all back into the protector?

I currently store mine in a dyusions pouch but the larger ones all get tangled so I need a new method. I'm thinking of switching to 12x12 page protectors in a binder. Lord knows I have enough 12x12 pp laying around collecting dust.

Now why didn't I think about trimming those pockets down to that size! I already have those exact ones for some of my larger stamp sets and I love the pocket system for storing my stamps and dies! I'm going to do this for sure!

I store all of my stencils, templates, etc. all in page protectors in a regular-size three-ring binder. I have them divided by sections, but they're all still in the same binder. Not the best way, but it does make it easy to flip through and look at them.

I don’t have that many and have them standing up in a ziplock bag at the front of one of my stamp storage bins.

I love this idea. Wish I had a place for one but all my messy projects are done standing at my chest freezer. My supplies for stamping and painting are on a wire shelved storage unit.

Patter I love your idea but as I sit here looking around my craft room, I don't have enough desk space for a clip it up. I need a bigger room! And if I use Pixie Spray to give them a tacky back, they would all get stuck together...

I only have a few stencils all of which are small and home-made, so I punch holes in them and store in one of my planner-sized binders. For your 6x6's, I'd probably solve it by putting parchment or a piece of page protector plastic to the sticky side and keep them on the ring. Stamping, gesso, paint, gift wrapping, laundry folding you name it. My hubby has been pushing for an upright and I keep yelling NO! If you need an additional argument, chest freezers are more efficient since the cold doesn't spill out each time you open it. The colder the air, the heavier it is.

I didn’t even know they made 12” x 12” stencils. Late to the party yet again. I store most of mine in page protectors in a 3 ring binder. The smaller ones are stored in 2 pocket sports card storage pages, also in the binder.

I keep them in 8.5 x 11 page protectors in a notebook. I put a sheet of cardstock in the page protector, then put the stencil on one side and the package on the other side. I don't have a lot of stencils though, and none are 12 x 12.

Anyone have an alternative idea? If you wash your stencil with soap and water or rub hand sanitizer over it, it will take off the stickiness. Then spray it again the next time you want to use it. I don’t want the stickiness to come off. From what I’ve seen, this Pixie Spray works great for holding stencils in place to prevent bleeding and you don’t have to reapply every time. So I want the sticky to stay and that’s why I need to store them differently. I ended up cutting down my pockets and parchment paper (because I don’t have freezer paper) this afternoon (I definitely have more than 30 stencils). I’m going to label them and put them in a fridge bin. I store my stamps and some dies this way and really love this system. I was finding that the stencils were getting tangled on the binder ring so now that the worst part of this task is complete, I think I’m going to be happy with this. I do have about 6-7 larger stencils that I kept on a binder ring. I doubt I’ll get many more large ones, but if I do I’ll probably use page protectors if I spray them with adhesive.
