I was wondering why do all ( well almost all) stamp companies have sales all the time? Do you buy when something is just released or do you wait because you know a sale is just around the corner? I wish the companies would just lower their prices and only do clearance sales

My theory is because so many cannot afford the full price, and in order to get sales they offer discounts so more people will buy. I seldom rush to buy as soon as things are released. I wait until what I want pops up on scrapbook.com or 123stitch.com, those two places always have stuff on sale and I often find things a few bucks cheaper than SSS or the company site. If it isn't on scrapbook or 123, then I wait until the company I want to buy from puts out a discount code.

I try to wait until at least a 25% off sale.

I rarely pay full price unless the item is under $10 anyway.

I agree on wishing they'd just have a price and stick to it. Maybe I shop different companies but I don't feel like most of the places I shop do have many sales (except basic coupons at SSS and the endless minuscule percentage off at scrapbook dot com).
For the most part I try not to shop too often so I'm not watching sales and prices all the time.
I guess if the places where you shop do a lot of sales it would be worth keeping track of the prices for a couple of months and figuring out their patterns so you can get the best deal. Or just set a level where you feel good about the price (less than $15 or at least 20% off) and just shop when you see that deal, and then try not to worry if the deal gets better the next week or month.

I always wait for a sale and hopefully free shipping or some other extra deal. 15% off is the minimum if I "need" something or if I am buying from a small business, but I usually try to wait until 40-50% off. I just got an email from Spellbinders and some of the dies I want are BOGO so I am going to make a purchase. I compared the prices to Amazon and ebay and buying during this sale will be cheaper.
Sometimes I purchase from Unity Stamp Co. and everything there goes on sale eventually. Since they are always having a sale, I won't buy anything unless it is at least 40% off.
