I purchased a first generation Slice years and years ago and I loved that machine. It worked great and I had a ton of design cards for it. About four years ago it stopped working and I haven’t found a place to repair it. I kept the cards and accessories but the machine just wouldn’t work.
My mom bought an Elite a few years back but hasn’t been using it so she sent it to me! It arrived today and it cuts beautifully. I have a Cameo and Scan ‘n Cut but I really like the designs on the Slice design cards. I’m excited to use it this weekend on a layout!
I’m still bummed Making Memories is gone from the scrapbooking world. The Noteworthy collection was my favorite for years! I love everything about that collection and even won it from the MM blog!
Are there any other Slice users on the forum?

I have never used a Slice, but I do understand missing Making Memories....the Noteworthy collection is hands down my favorite collection of all time! (I still have some of the metal hatpins + the cork alphabet (that had polka dots). Loved that entire line!

They were so pretty to look at! I think I still have most of this collection somewhere... I should pull it out. Noteworthy 2 was beautiful, too.

The best thing about MM was how innovative they were, we never saw their stuff and thought, oh that looks just like so and so... They had the best tools, papers that were so easy to use, and their embellishments were to die for.
I still don’t understand what the hell happened to them. I know they fired MMA, and went with that stupid prize type stuff, but I don’t understand why.

I loved mine, too, but it quit working. If I can unearth my design cards and accessories (many unopened ), I'd be happy to send them to you.

I unearthed a ton of Making Memories stuff yesterday during my purge. I was amazed at how much MM stuff I had. I kept a lot of it- I still liked most of it.

Noteworthy 2 was beautiful, too. I still have some MM tools--including the box with the hammer and the eyelet setters. Still use the paper piercer and the xacto knife from that. The only Slice product I have is the glass cutting mat. Use it all the time with my xacto knife and with Creative Memories and Ek Success cutting tools. Works great as a mixed media mat, too, cuz it wipes right off. For you lovers of pretty things in jars, LILAC LANE has tons of little jars of goodness: sequins, buttons, enamel dots/pearls, gems. Either monochromatic or seasonally mixed.

MM was one of my favorites of all time! For about two years, most of my layouts were "Willow" and "Ocean" colored I think I still have my Slice. I should dig it out!

Still use the paper piercer and the xacto knife from that. Same. That paper piercer, my CM cutting tools, and the Mrs. Grossman's sticker tweezers have stood the test of time.

I also miss Making Memories. I just loved all of their things, embellishments, chipboard, paints, tools.
I had a sliced and loved it for years and years. I passed it along to my niece after I bought a cameo. She used it until it stopped working. Brings back many memories.

i remember when the Slice first came out. i think i paid $150 for it and bought a few of the cards. i sold it years ago but got reminded of it when i saw one at a thrift store. it was in the nice Slice bag with handles and had all the tools and accessories with it. i guess the thrift store didn't know how to categorize it because it was in the computer section. they had it priced at $39.99

I'm looking to unload an original Slice machine and cartridges/accessories if anyone is interested. If you pay for shipping (if you want the machine), it's yours.

I still have my slice. Haven’t used it in years. I’ve put it in my donate pile numerous times, but always end up pulling it out. For some reason I am just not ready to get rid of it.

Making Memories was one of my favorites. Their papers had matching embellishments, buttons, and fibers (remember those?). They always seemed to have colors and patterns I loved. remember when they came out with the foam stamps and acrylic paints. The bottle lids were twist on and would stick. MM offered to replace the lids with plastic caps and sent those out to whoever requested them. Excellent CS.

Had an original Slice. Bought it right after it came out and LOVED IT for a long time. When I got my first small cricut, I sold my Slice on Amazon - along w/the cards (separately). If you have one you don't want, you can always try that route. I eventually moved from the small cricut to the Cameo full size. I loved MM too. I loved how their stuff was NOT ALL PINK.

I still have my Slice plus the wooden shelf that you could buy for it, plus two zippered cases, one with tools and one with MANY cards, plus a 12x12 glass mat and I think also 2 6x6 glass mats, and lots of refill blades. I am trying to decide if I want to put it in the scrapbook store yard sale. I guess I need to look at the cards and see if the designs are still ones I would use. I haven't used it in quite a few years, so I would first need to see if it even works, although it probably does. I am pretty sure I am going to keep the wooden shelf.
I had decided to get rid of it but now this thread is making me question my decision.

Count me in as another Noteworthy fan! I also loved a collection they did where the papers had boys' and girls' names. I can’t remember what they were, but the papers were lovely and bright, and featured plaids, stripes, paisleys and florals. There was one that was bright yellow, pink and orange, and another that was red, white and two shades of blue. Does anyone remember those?
