I have a high school senior this year so this is all new to me...
What is the purpose of Convocation in October if Graduation is in June?
It is at the school at 9:45 am and it says that families are invited to attend.

Not sure in your case, but at our school, we have Honors Convocation (Honors Awards, strictly for highest GPAs) for the previous school year in November. For Seniors, they then have another one in May to reflect Senior year. If it only says Convocation, then I don't know what that means, as a convocation is just a large assembly of people.

In my experience that Convocation is the kick off the beginning of the senior year. Though I know it can take many forms

Do you have a graduation ceremony in June?
Dh's high school had convocation in October. I thought it was lame. Not sure what the reasoning was.. something about June with exams/prom being busy or something.

I've always heard convocation as a beginning of the year welcoming service or coming together.
Baccalaureate is a religious service held prior to graduation in some areas.

Thanks!
It is called Senior Convocation.
And there will be a Graduation Ceremony in June.
They will be wearing the gowns, but no caps...
