I'm going for my first tattoo removal session tomorrow and wondering if there is anything I need to do to prepare? If you've had one removed, how did it go? How many sessions did it take?
I have nothing against tattoos I just don't like them on myself anymore. I have 2, one on my stomach that I probably won't bother with since it's easy to hide, but I have one on my ankle I've just grown to hate. It goes about half way around my ankle and I don't like the way it looks when I wear shorts or skirts. I'm actually excited about getting started on the removal.

My husband had a small tattoo remove from his forearm. It took 4 or 5 laser sessions. It faded bit by bit. Now, you have to really look for it to see where it was. He said it stung a bit but nothing serious. He's happy with the result.

I had a small one on my shoulder that I had lasered off about 15 years ago. Not sure how much the technology has changed but it took 6 sessions. Red is more difficult to remove than other colors so that made it take a little longer. I used numbing cream and took Tylenol prior to each treatment and remember that it still hurt. It was worth it to me though. It completely disappeared and I'm very glad I had it done. The tattoo was one that I had gotten in high school because my best friend got one. Stupid!
Good luck! I think you'll be pleased with the results.

Be sure whoever you go to for removal has plenty of experience and before/after photos. I have a friend who had one removed from her hand, the ink is gone, but it left a gnarly scar that looks like she's been branded.

I have had 2 removed. Both were black and red. The older one only took 2 sessions, and the newer one (still 20 years old) took a few more. It is quite painful though. I apparently have an immunity to lidocaine, but it's helpful for most people to get some numbing cream. I think the brand they recommended was Dr. Numb.
