Y’all are making me jealous. No AC here, and I have large walls of unobstructed windows (with 13’ ceilings) facing east so (even with shades pulled) my place heats up by 7am. It’s usually between 75-77 by 10 am (sometimes it’s that warm when I wake up at 6:30), and will get to the low to mid 80s by 2 and stay there until well after bedtime. The hottest it’s been in my place in the 2 years I lived here is 89.
I bought a portable AC for the bedroom a month or so ago. I’m unimpressed. Even with the door shut it was only 3 degrees cooler than the rest of the house when I went to bed the other night :/

I have vaulted ceilings in the front of the house and absolutely zero shade trees on the property. It's awful trying to keep it somewhat cool. I even got a brand new a/c system last year and the a/c installer basically told me there wasn't anything that would help my problems. So, I am working on landscaping and planting shade trees this winter.
For now I am able to keep it to 81 in the front half of the house (where there is most of the sun exposure) and about 78 in the back of the house. I could probably go a couple degrees lower but I am mostly comfortable with these temps and my electricity bill doesn't get too high.

68-69 pretty much year round. Varies for day and night.
I love a/c and refuse to be hot in my house. I'll pay. Thankfully our house is not that big and we have a new system that so far, keeps costs reasonable.

68 right now. If I could afford to I’d turn it down even more at night. Winter I just turn it off. It gets down in the 50s inside 🤷🏻♀️ Has to hit 49 for us to even consider turning the heat on. This is exactly what we do. Does it cost more? I’m sure it does, but we will have to cut back elsewhere. I’m not going to sweat inside my own home for nine months out of the year!

78 during the summer, probably 70 in the winter. And if money was no object - the summer would be down to 70. Inland southern California.

We try to keep it at 72, but on days like today it struggles in the late afternoon/early evening to keep it that low. I think it’s like actually 76 in here right now. That’s why all Texans have ceiling fans in almost every room. In the winter we mostly just turn off the AC, but on the rare night that it gets down below 60 in the house we put the heat on at least 60 and put on a sweater.

We've had our thermostat set to the same temp since we moved down here to FL. It's on an auto- setting and we put it on 73 during the day and 68 at night. When it gets cooler out, it doesnt go on, and we never had to shut it off yet!!

Downstairs 67/68 during the day. I shut the central a/c at night since we are all upstairs. Upstairs while asleep, 68. I sometimes get up and hit it down to 67 when nobody is looking. haha I wake up and it's set to hit 72 and I. AM. BURNING! I hate it! I am 38 and having hot flashes. The colder, the better!!! This is our first Summer in this house and we have two central air units that I'm loving. A little terrified to get our bills though. lol I am in NY so we run air from about May-early Oct....

If you never turn them off, you never see the dust! I got a chuckle when one of our guests in our rental house in Maine mentioned that instructions for the ceiling fan would have been helpful. Apparently they are not as common elsewhere!

We don’t have AC, and our main level is 71° right now. Basement is probably 5° cooler. We open our windows at night, and the temps in our house drop to the low-mid 60’s overnight.
During the winter, we have the heat set to 65° during the night, and 68° during the day.

Well, one reason (big reason) we moved south was because I hate cold. I hate chiilliness inside -- I always have to bring a sweater to the movie theater.
So it is a rare occasion when the AC goes below 74 degrees. At night it is usually at 76 and we turn the fan on low in our bedroom.
But it also depends on what room I am in. The big open floor plan area with hugely high vaulted ceilings stays nice almost all the time. The small bedrooms on the opposite side of the house -- which face south -- are often uncomfortably warm. We usually try and just turn the ceiling fans on, to save money on cooling.
In the winter (here and up north), the temp is never below 70. That is non negotiable for me. When we were young and poor, we could only afford to heat the house to 58 and it was a nightmare. I hated my life, hated going home, did everything to delay going home. If I can afford to not live like that, I will.

I realized when I moved that one of the items that should be in the "last packed first unpacked" box is the microfiber ceiling fan duster! It took me a while to find it and it was DESPERATELY needed at the new place (still finishing remodel, floor sanding and sheetrock dust on everything).
I remember the 'good old days' pre-ceiling fans, but then we had attic fans.

I just looked. Our's is set at 73 degrees F. and it's in the living room-main level-the control I mean. It's a full house unit-the air conditioning. Problem is we have a 3 level house, main level, upstairs bedrooms and a finished basement which is my office/scraproom and TV/den. We don't have even temp's through all 3 levels. They vary greatly. Main level is perfect, upstairs is warmer and finished basement level to me is freezing. But then I get cold easily-it's either my iron deficiency or my adrenal insufficiency.
Right now I'm wearing a T-shirt, light fleece jacket, yoga pants and off brand Ugg boots with knee socks. And I'm chilly and thinking of trading the short sleeved cotton T-shirt for a long sleeved one. And it's July in Maryland! Outside it is 83 degrees.
Winter-I don't even want to think about winter. I live with DH and our adult DS. Both men are overweight and run hot. In winter DH likes to keep the heating low to save money. I freeze all winter long but at least the basement is warmer where I spend a lot of time. DH likes to keep the temp at 67 degrees during the winter. I shiver, add layers and count the months until Spring.

I keep the house between 76-78 during the summer and aim for 70 in the winter. Depending on the outdoor temps the house may actually end up a little warmer than 70 during the day.

Upstairs around 79°. Rarely turn on the downstairs as it tends to never get over 79 or so. I turn the air on when either floor gets up to 82°. Winter is about 67°. We turn both a/c and heater off at night.

My house is only two years old and very energy efficient. I usually keep my air at 76 or 77 during the day. But sometimes if I’m sitting on the couch, I’ll need a blanket at 76. But at night when we sleep, I have it at 71. I like it cold at night.
