Last can in the house. Otherwise i would have tossed it and opened a different one. For those unfamiliar, it’s just sparkling water. Tastes fine but I thought before i down it I should ask since I’m unfamiliar with the possible botulism issue. Would you drink this? Thanks! ETA i have no idea why this posted sideways, sorry about that! Attachments:

I wouldn't - but only because the top is dented. If it were just the sides, I wouldn't think twice. I've read somewhere that bulging tops and bottoms of cans is a sign of botulism.

Sure. It’s just dented. If it gave a “whoosh” when you opened it and it’s still carbonated, you are good.

Botulism? Is there a risk of this with LaCroix?
If the can is unopened, I’d probably drink it.

Ehhh... no. I’m not a strong no, because I don’t think sparkling water is an environment that would support the growth of botulism bacteria - there’s nothing for it to feed on. But it’s one can. So I’d pass.
ETA: I looked at the photo quickly the first time and I saw more bulge and not really the dent, but looking again, it seems like the dent caused the bulge, so I'd drink it without a second thought. If it were just bulging, no dent, I'd go back to my original response.

I have never heard this! Scary! Let me google and see if I can find where I read this. Edited: OK, this article talks about, although I know this wasn't the original article I read. LINK
from the article: Dented cans are the biggest culprit of botulism. Avoid buying cans with deep dents, especially ones that affect the top, bottom and side seams of the can. Bulging ends of the can means there is a leak in the can, and air has become trapped inside.

I sure would. Just drank a diet Dr Pepper that was more dented than that. Been an hr and I’m still alive. 😂

We drink a lot of sparkling water and have never gotten sick from a dented can.

I would drink it- because IMO, the top is bulging ONLY because the side is dented. To me, it looks like the top probably bulged at the time the side got dented- not because there was a leak that allowed air to get in.
The metal is soft, and the liquid inside had to have somehwere to go when the side got dented- thus, the top bulged a bit.
(also, from experience I can tell you that sometimes the tops of cans/plastic bottles bulge a tiny bit because somewhere in the life of the container they got stored in the heat which changed the pressure inside the container. This happens a LOT to carbonated beverages here in Phx.)

Oh. It’s because the can is bulging?
I thought that happened with temp changes. I should’ve died years ago because it’s never stopped me! 😂😂😂

I would. Botulism is a concern for canned foods that grow in dirt I don't think LaCroix could have botulism. Enjoy!

I would drink it, especially if it meant I didn't have to go out right away to get more.

If the dent/bulge means the seal was disturbed then the first thing to happen would be the drink would go "flat"

I think you made the right choice, especially since it's the last can! It's too hot to go out and get more!

I wouldn't, but only because I don't care for LaCroix water! As for the dent, since it hadn't gone flat, I'm sure you are fine.

That just looks like a can that got dropped. I'd drink that without a second thought.

I would have died 50 years ago if eating/drinking what the peas worry about were really a threat.
