So I’m doing my work in a local coffee shop. A shop open to the public. I’m here minding my own business doing my work.
2 guys came in and sat behind me, talking loudly about their business. I continue to do my work. Mind my own business. There was a semi loud sound outside the shop so I turned around to look out the window to see if it was an accident. It wasn’t. Don’t know what it was but I’m not the only person who looked. The guy behind me starts yelling at me: “I thought you had headphones in. Go put head phones in & stop listening to private conversations blah blah blah. ( mind you he’s right behind me talking so loud that I’d still hear him if I did have my head phones in ) I wasn’t really listening btw just loud background noise.
Like dude if your ‘deal’ is such a private deal go to a private place to dis use it. Fuck off you don’t get to tell me what to do. Who the hell died and left you boss of me?
Some people have such weird expectations of other people.
What an asshole
I did not respond. I just gave him my best ( worst ) mom look & went back to my work.

I would have been hard pressed not to tell him to mind his own business and fuck off. I almost hate going out to eat anymore it seems like there's always an asshole or more at a table who have to talk above everyone else. No one cares how their loud conversations are interrupting others around them.
It's become such a me society!
I took my GD to the Calgary Stampede and we were waiting in line for a ride had been for about 5 minutes, I was just standing with her until she got on and this guy about 25 cuts in front of us and my GD who is 9 points it out to me.
I said just try to ignore him but then he waves to his group of 4 friends and GF to join him. She does but the others are like it's ok we'll stay here.
I said excuse me but you cut in front of us and that's not cool and now you're trying to get your group to cut in front of a 9 yr old that's an asshole move! The GF is staring daggers at me LOL.
He says it's not a big deal I said really wow aren't you a prize cutting in front of a bunch kids. Wait your turn like everybody else is. He says fine I'll go back with his friends in a indignant tone like he's doing me a fucking favor and then says sorry and I think you owe me an apology. I owe you an apology for what calling out your asshole behavior in front of your GF and friendsyeah not going to happen I said. He mumbles under his breath how rude I was yeah oookay!

i probably would have said "oh, believe me, me and everyone else in here have been trying very hard to ignore your loud conversation for the last half hour... i just turned around because i heard a loud bang". i am not really a fuck off/eat shit kinda gal.  that's like people who talk really loudly on their cell phone on the streetcar... and then glare at you like you are eavesdropping on their private conversation. people are fucked up. |

I had a similar thing happen a few weeks ago.
A couple of ladies came into the coffee shop where I was working on vacation planning. They sat behind me and proceeded to discuss the affair one of them was having. They were sooo loud about it that everyone could hear. When the door to the coffee shop opened a gust of wind blew my napkin to the floor next to them. I turned and reached down to retrieve it and one of the ladies said, WTF, are you listening to us? Feeling a bit spicey, I replied super quietly, Everyone is listening to you because you are loud as fuck and by the way, I know your husband. The look on her face as she stammered and called me all sorts of things, very loudly, was awesome! She even included a rant about how could I know her husband because I was way too old to be his type. The shop owner came over and asked them to leave, and she really lost it. As she passed me she yelled, I hope you enjoy his needle dick. I just laughed, and said, That explains what he said about you.
I have no idea who this woman's husband is, I just felt like fucking with the obnoxious bitch and she played right into it. The whole coffee shop erupted in laughter as she stormed out and I explained that I had no clue who she or her husband were.
I am over people who think they are the only person that matters.

I think that situation might have warranted a good old fashioned “bless your heart for thinking I care about what you are doing in a public place” and probably an “asshole” as you turn away. But I am passive aggressive like that 😬

I clearly am missing out on some good stuff because I don't drink coffee (and hate the smell of it). I am kind of shocked that people think they can expect privacy in a public setting.
The other day, I met a few teacher friends and one of them was talking about a family in the school. She wasn't saying anything harsh, but lowered her voice so we could barely hear her. I said, "You know, we're the only ones here right now." It was 3:15 and they were between meals. She just said that she never says anything with someone's name in public where anyone else can here. Good policy.

I took my little kids to the park one day and a guy and his girlfriend were arguing; the guy was yelling streams of expletives at her. As we walked up, I told him he needed to tone it down with all the kids around so of course he yelled at me to mind my own f**ing business. All I could say was, "I would love to, but you're yelling. In the middle of the park. So...."

It's like those idiots at Disneyland that had their family fist fight in toon town a few days ago. Are you freaking kidding me? In the 4 min video I watched, you can hear a lady who is talking to 911 saying get the police here! There is a physical fight happening (with the location in toon town) and she's saying I have video of the whole thing! Get someone here! Then you hear her saying "get security" to the park worker who is holding the broom and dust bin. In the articles I read, there was a security gal on scene and she called for back up since it was a group fight and not just one on one. I guess that is what they are trained to do. It took the other security guy 3 mins to get there. Park goers are the ones that intervened to get the red shorts guy off the girl he took to the ground and was punching in the head. One of them choked him out until he passed out for a few seconds. Then he was back up and yelling "who choked me out? I'm ready to go to jail today." I'm glad she videoed it, because when the police finally showed up, none of the party that had been escorted off the property would cooperate with police. Denying it happened. Ummm... you live in the world of cell phones and video cameras you idiots! One of the gentleman that helped getting the guy off the girl said when they walked into the area, he thought there must be a Character out walking around since people had out their phones and cameras. Then he heard the screaming and crying and that's when he realized what was going on and he then rushed in. He missed the whole first part of the fight. It sure was a mess. I'd have gotten my kids out of the area as fast as we could go and would have looked for more security. The lady who spit in the guy's face, both the guys and the other gal should all be charged with assault and child endangerment. So far no charges for any of them. |

Used to happen all the time in the store. People would walk around with their phones on speakerphone and be YELLING an entire, personal conversation and if someone dared to glance at them, claws would come out, "HEY, bitch, why are you listening to my PERSONAL conversation?"
It was a great day when some guy was confronted and said, "If your UTI was so personal, then why are yelling about it so that everyone can hear?"
What I loved was when you are checking them out and you tune them out and then suddenly they are waving their hand in your face, "HEY! Pay attention to me! I was talking to you!" Every time that happened, I would say, "Sorry, I was trying to not listen to your personal conversation."

I had similar on a train a while back. I was sitting next to this chap who was working on his laptop. He was next to the window, I was in the aisle seat. I was looking out of the window and he accused me of snooping into his 'highly confidential' work. I fixed him with an unblinking stare and pointed out to him that the train carriage was not his private work place and that I reserved the right to look out of the window on this public train whenever I chose. He didn't bother me again. Twat.

I felt bad for the other guy who obviously wanted work from the rude guy. Guy was a freakin quack if I were braver I’d have told the other guy he doesn’t want to work for this asshat but I just minded my own business you never know what his situation is or how bad he needs the job. |

In the middle of the park. So...." I am amazed reading all the posts about the rudeness of people, downright shocked on some, also have experienced a few. I am sorry that the person in your situation didn't recognize the fact that there were children around, in a place where children would be found. I was walking into a grocery store once and there was a group of young men standing on each side of the door conversing loudly and using very explicit language AND there were several children in the area. I stopped and asked them if there mother raised them that way, pointed out the kiddos and what happened next was pleasantly surprising. They stopped, noticed the kids, looked back at me sheepishly and apologized. They thanked me for pointing it out. Now why can't more people be like that? I can hope that this happens more in the future though even I doubt it. |

I would have purposely bought the biggest and stickiest drink the coffee shop could make. I would then calmly walk back to my table a "trip" over something where said drink spilled all over him.
