In a few weeks my aunt and I are heading to Bonita Springs. We did this a year and a half ago, and had been very excited at the thought of some nice meals out. We assumed (good) seafood would be easy to come by, but were unimpressed by the places we wound up at. Sorry, but names don't spring to mind. Everything seemed to be fried. We finally broke down and did Bonefish Grill and Outback (I try to stay away from national chains on vacation) and those were some of the best meals we had. Any recommendations? A variety of price points is fine. TIA!

Go on Fodors.com and ask. I find that the travelers on that site always give great recommendations. Of course, you can also use tripadvisor.com

I eat a lot of fresh sea food and I love Bonefish Grill. Some of their dishes are really good.

Look at Marco island. There is a place that begins with an s...shoocks maybe? I think it is a kind of fish. We enjoyed that when we were on vacay in ft Myers.

Merrick Seafood in Cape coral now has a small dining room. I haven't eaten there, but I do buy most of my seafood from there and I have been happy with the freshness and quality.
There is also Skip One Seafood on 41 in Estero/Fort Myers. I know they have some outside sitting. Again I only buy fresh seafood from them and cook at home. We bought awesome clams and fresh gulf shrimp shrimp last time we stopped there.
We rarely east seafood out. I prefer to buy fresh and cook it myself.
Every once in a blue moon we will hit a little hole in the wall Steamers in Naples. It's in a strip mall almost next door to Micheal's. The two strip malls connect. I usually only order steamers there, but my dh/mil/ds have had oysters and shrimp and thought they were good. But it's not fancy or anything.

We like Coconut Jack's. You can order your fish cooked different ways and it is nice to sit on the water. For casual lunch on the beach, we like to grab takeout from Doc's and take it back to our spot on the beach. If you drive into downtown Naples, there are some great restaurants on 5th Avenue. Yabba's is a favorite. Their King Crab scampi is to die for.

Oh, and if you like ice cream, my family loves the Royal Scoop just off of Bonita Springs Road (I think). My DH would go there every night when we are visiting his parents. I don't like ice cream, but they do have some nice sandwiches for lunch.

You could try Big Hickory Fishing Nook, which is pretty much hidden. It is right off of Bonita Beach Road. Also, if you go down the road a bit to Fort Myers Beach, Skip One Seafood just opened up a nice, big place. They have been around forever but only in a small location on 41. The new place seems to be doing very well.

We are moving to Cape Coral next week - I'm going to check out some of these soon, so thanks! We found the food at The Twisted Conch in Cape Coral to be pretty good, nothing fancy, but good food and a fun place to watch a football game (or read your Kindle while DH watches the game!)

Also, Love Boat Ice Cream (which looks like a DUMP from outside) is very good, and a local mainstay. Totally worth waiting in the line that will form outside of the door in the evenings, and not far from Fort Myers Beach.
