I like sets of gifts. Like a bathing suit/trunks with sand toys, or pajamas with a goodnight book.

Art stuff, Crayola mess free stuff is wonderful. They have paints and pens that only work on the special paper. They are really amazing.

Best thing we got for ds at that age was a mini trampoline. He loved it and it helped get some wiggles out.

My go to gift for a 2 yo is a Melissa & Doug wooden vegetable cutting set that are held with Velcro. For boys and girls. My son is almost 18 and we still have the wooden box downstairs because it is always played with when littles come over. It says 3 and up only because at 2 it is hard to fit them back together. The sound/force with pushing through the Velcro is great developmentally!

I bought my grandson a bike that had no pedals that he pushed with his feet. My daughter-in-law said he loved it and it helped with balance until he was older and could do a real bike. It wasn't very expensive as I recall.

Something to ride and push with feet or pedal as a tricycle. That idea of a miniature trampoline is good also. Children age 2 are so full of energy that it is good to burn some of it off. Love garcia5050 idea of "sets" of gifts also.

LMAO apparently it spans the test of time

Any of the above would be great!
At this age, anything Little People as a big hit for my kids. The barn & farmer animals or school bus are good sets.

When my niece was 2 my birthday gift to her was one of those balance bikes without pedals. You can get models that grow with the child - I bought a 'Wishbone' brand bike which lasted her basically nearly 3 years.

Anything involving balls. I was just going to suggest a ball pit and/or tent set up. My kids got one as toddlers and enjoyed it for years. It was similar to this: If you don't have the room, you can also just find the ball pit portion. Ball Pit for Toddlers

The only thing is that it takes up a lot of room (even broken down, all those balls take up a lot of space), if they have a playroom or something then this is great.

Uncertain the budget, but recommend age-appropriate books & Lego sets.

I remembered just as I posted how much room it took in our tiny condo. We were always tripping over it but it would keep the kids nice and busy. Sometimes we'd break it down and just let them play with the ball pit.

Our independent bookstore (in Benicia) carries them. Send him to me and I’ll help him pick out a puzzle and book(s). If he doesn’t want to hang out with me for an afternoon they’re also available on Amazon.

a kitchen set is good for several years. or stuff to go with a kitchen set if she has one.
they have more little people sets. house, barn, plane (maybe), school bus. he could use that as his goto gift until she outgrows them.
