When I was in high school, our school gave us spiral-found agendas for organizing. I had one each year I was in high school. As the year progressed, I made notes about exams, funny things that happened with my friends, tucked in notes we passed in class, saved funny newspaper clippings. Added stickers, school programmes, etc. I wasn't intentionally "decorating" my agenda, but by the end of the year it was full and had to be held closed with an elastic band. I found those agendas a few years ago, and they were absolute treasures. About a year ago I dug them out of my basement and was going to put them in with my scrapbooks and blog about them and shoot a little video about them. Instead, I put them back in the basement. The next week a pipe broke in our basement and I lost all of those agendas, plus all of the cards I've received during high school and all of the letters I'd received from my two best friends for the year they each went to school in Europe. It was heartbreaking. So, for those of you who don't understand making an agenda pretty... it's not any different than a journal, or true scrapbook, or any other way we like to keep memories. Mine were precious, and I wish I still had them. WOW. What a good perspective. i guess i wasn't looking out of the box enough, i'm picturing a planner as being the bazillion appointments we have and boring boring drudgery and how awful that you lost them all, terrible.

I'm way too cheap to pay $28.50 a month for a planner kit that covers only 1 month of the year. I'd rather buy a filofax or moleskin planner and add stuff from my stash. I like the randomness and creativity that I see with these types of planners. The look of the Cocoa Daisy planner kits are too uniform of a look for me.

I have one for yearly, monthly and weekly inserts. I love the feel of paper, so I just don't use my phone for this purpose. I color-code (using pens, stickers and washi), and post-it notes to help keep me organized. I also use this one for planning our vacations. My second one is for mealplanning. Weekly menus with shopping lists, and I keep receipes in there too. This way, I ensure we don't eat the same meals over and over, and if we don't like a receipe I just throw it away. My third is for everything craft related, ongoing projects, planned projects, expenses, sketches.... My fourth planner is for everything related to jul (christmas to you), including addresses for everyone on my card list, what cookies to bake and meals to plan, gift lists...... My last one is for books I'm going to read (a page per book). And I'm thinking about getting one to use as a diary, mainly because I find writing a few lines a day and maybe doing a quick sketch, is helping me unwind. I will get one as soon as I can make up my mind which one will best suit my needs. i'm not decorating anything other than the dividers and tabs, but I use stickers and washi because they're making it easier for me to organize our everyday life. I love the idea of dividing up planners. I don't want to carry around a meal or craft planner with me in my purse at all times. Just keep one for keeping track of appointments and writing a few notes.

I've had my Erin Condren for about a month now and really like it. I never felt organized using my phone so I needed to go back to a paper planner. I don't decorate it much because I need it functional, but I do use washi to mark things off and color code different types of events. They are pricey, but I wanted something pretty. Here's a referral link for a $10 off code if anyone is interested. www.erincondren.com/referral/invite/colleenokeefe0701

I have been just getting into separate planners for different things...I have three so far: one for a website I run for a dog rescue, the second for just my calendar and the third for my finances (I don't want to carry that information with me). I've been thinking about what else I want to do but holy moly...I could really get out of control with these! I'm going to be thinking of creating a craft planner all day now.

I love the look and am drawn to the idea, but I know I wouldn't make use of it so would rather spend my $$ on my scrapbooking if I had any need for a planner, I'd be all over them (i do have to practice some restraint even tho I have zero need!)

I have tried multiple times over the years to "get organized" with different calendars and planners, and it just doesn't work for me. I think I finally donated my expensive DayRunner from years ago to Goodwill because I never really used it and couldn't justify paying a small fortune for the refill calendar pages for it. My reality is that if it's small enough to fit in my purse it's not big enough to write down everything I need to write down, and if it's big enough to write everything down in one place I don't want to drag it around in my already too-heavy purse, KWIM?
iPhone to the rescue for me! I almost always have my phone with me, and I love that my calendars, notes, reminders and contacts are synced between my devices because when I don't have my phone in my pocket or nearby, I have my iPad in my hands. I've seen so many cute paper planners and inserts but I just have to say no because for practical reasons they just don't work for me.

I kept a planner in high school and college but I do NOT get the new planner craze! 1. It seems like a TON of work, colors for different types of things and decorating is fun but I don't know that I would have time to make my planner pretty and it's not like Project Life or a Scrapbook that I could/would pull out to show people. The main thing I don't understand in the price, people are posting things like 'FILOFAX ON SALE FOR 585!!!" and all I can think of is "that's not a sale!! I got irked a few years ago when Office Max wanted me to pay $15" haha
I drool over Cathy Vee at Hello, I'm a paper addict, her planner is jaw dropping and it's great for people who aren't scrapbookers/PLers because it's a place to keep those bits but for me, I really don't get it. I hope I haven't offended anyone, I'm sure it's amazing for you, it's just not something I understand.

I just ordered from Plum Paper on Etsy, it's like the Erin Condren one only not as expensive. I'm really excited to get it!

I belong to a couple FB groups about planners. They are pretty. I have finally used my planner properly for the last 2 years. So this year I bought a pretty one. Just a Franklin Covey one. Not expensive. Just $10 more for the pages than my usual yearly Brownline one. Found a binder at a thrift store. It is brightly coloured which I love. I may add some quotes to it etc. But I will not be going full force and decorating it. I am not a digital person calendar wise. I need to write things down, it helps me remember them. Now my new planner is arriving today and who knows it may get some washi here and there but for me it keeps me on track. Keeps my house clean, and I don't have random lists for everything every where. I may use a planner now for scrapbooking and genealogy hobbies. Like Ideas or preparing for a project in mind. I keep a little journal for the good in everyday. Its an old unused planner..small size. I just change the date. Write one good thing that happened that day. Sometimes more good things happen. when things are not going your way I find it helps find perspective and keeps me positive.

I have a Plum Paper planner and love it, but wanted to try something different for my work planner (the PPP works great for Family stuff). My company bought me an Emily Ley Simplified Planner for 2015. Super excited to use the for work appointments. Those Websters Pages planner are very appealing though-I might need one of those for my family planner next year. I just love being able to write things down and look at pretty paper and fun stickers.

Well after all this talk I caved and preordered the Webster's Pages one in teal. I am thinking of subscribing to the Cocoa Daisy pages only kit - I love getting a kit every month but haven't been using up my PL kits, so that might be a way to satisfy my kit-craving without accumulating more stuff!

I kind of get it but would rather just scrapbook. I do work in a professional environment though so I could not decorate one even if I wanted to I do keep a planner as I have to track my time spent on each client ( I work in public accounting) and have to enter that at the end of the week. I also have started keeping my to do list in there - one for work and one for home. Appointments go in my phone and work outlook calendar. I do understand multiple ones for different purposes but don't understand the people who switch planners between weeks. I guess I don't understand having more than one for the year if they have the same purpose.

I guess I don't understand having more than one for the year if they have the same purpose. When I first started watching YouTube videos about the planner trend, I wondered the same thing. One girl said, "I change my planner like people change their purses." Now, I am not one to change my purse except a couple of times a year, but I can get what she means. Some people just enjoy matching it to their outfits. What gets me, though, is having to transfer all the pages to the other planner on a regular basis! Having to get the holes aligned every time would drive me nuts.

Exactly!
I am having a really hard time w/this! I am trying to use my mini tablet, but am having a hard time letting go of my paper & pens. And my purse is too small for my large planner (which I bought years ago & still love).
What to do, what to do . . .

I just saw the Webster's one..that might be a great one just for my hobbies..its to small for my every day. I love the colours and the little pocket pencil case holder thing. MY UPS just delivered my new planner. I'm so excited to go home and see it. My goal is to incorporate a little washi in there.

I don't get it. I have a planner. I write in it, which I would be less inclined to do if it was cutesy and worked on.

I'm going to add a couple pictures to mine Maybe write some quotes. But I think that's all. The planner I bought it pretty paper. Bright colours as trim. I need it to be functional.

I was wondering the same thing -- about the Planner comeback. I kept a paper planner for years. When Palm Pilots and then I-phones became the more trendy way to keep up with schedules, I would call my planner my 'Pulp Pilot'. I tried to give it up by putting appointments, notes, and tasks in my Iphone, but I still like the security and convenience of that thing I can hold in my hand that is NOT my iPhone, so I use both. I use my paper planner -- only one - for a variety of things - tracking weight and exercise, to-do lists, appointments, scrapping goals -- whatever I need to keep up with. For some reason, the Iphone just doesn't have the same effect. HOWEVER, I doubt I will take the dive and get the $28 a month planner kits. I usually get a planner a little into the new year when they go 1/2 off because January is 1/2 over - you know like for $7 - $10 for the whole year.
