Second UPDATE: Decision has been made. She will be staying with foster's sister and niece. We think it's best for her, even though she will be missed.
The original plan was for Molly's foster mom to continue training her and we would take care of her when foster mom went out of town. Well, the weekend she was leaving, we were getting our backyard re sprayed for ants and putting down fertilizer as well as me being sick, so we decided it was best not to bring her here at that time. We didn't even have Wili here as he stayed with my parents.
Foster mom just returned home. Molly had stayed with her sister who lives close by and where she has stayed before. She lives on a farm and has cows that Molly likes to chase and a 4 yr old daughter.
We received an email from foster mom last night saying that she had returned home. She mentioned that Molly's stay with her sister did not do well for her training and that her niece had actually fallen in love with her. She said that she was not telling them that they could keep her and that we have first dibs if we are still interested.
So, here's the deal...training is a MUST for us as she is a little rebel. LOL Since foster mom said she'd do it for us for free, we would expect this to continue and we would go on as planned, eventually bringing her here for good. We do like her (DH more than me, but I'm sure I'd grow to love her once she's more well behaved.)
My thing is, if she were to stay with foster's sister, she would be in a familiar place with people she has known/been with since April. There is no telling when we would actually be bringing her home so, it could still be a while that she would be with them. She's happy where she is and would have a great home with other animals as well as a child that loves her. She would not have to move to yet another home. If we decide to let them keep her, we would eventually start the search for another pup. I know DH would be pretty disappointed, but he would love any dog we ended up with.
If you were in this position, what would you do?
