I've decided to post some of the conversations between my husband and I, they're crazy .......I just shake my head. So..........my husband has been fussing at me to get a rug for the family room. We have wood laminate flooring and he says it is "cold" or "always has sand" on it. I'm not fond of big rugs because we have a little house dog...........you get my drift................but I broke down and bought a 9 x 12 rug and asked him to help me lay it down a few minutes ago. Here goes:
Husband: What did you get such a great big rug for? Me: I thought you said you wanted a rug? Husband: I said I wanted "rugs", not one great big rug. Me: What difference does it make if have four small rugs or one big rug? Husband: Rugs are nothing but a tripping hazard, first time someone trips on it I'm going to say I told you so. Me: We have a big ( 9 x 12) rug under the dining table, nobody trips on that. Husband: That's because it's under the table. Me: Not the edges and the corners and that's what people trip on. Husband: I'm not talking about this anymore, just remember I warned you.
Okay, how logical was that conversation?

He wanted you to buy a rug then claims they are nothing but a tripping hazard?

Wouldn't more rugs be more of a tripping hazard than one big rug?

A large rug has 4 corners to trip over. A group of 4 small rugs have 16 corners. Yes, I can see how conversations with your hubby can be vexing.

4 little rugs have a lot more edges and corners to trip on than 1 big one, don't they?

Wouldn't more rugs be more of a tripping hazard than one big rug? That was my thought as well.

Wouldn't more rugs be more of a tripping hazard than one big rug? My husband and I have all sorts of weird discussions about house stuff. I can very seldom describe what I mean in language he understands.

Wouldn't more rugs be more of a tripping hazard than one big rug? One would think so, but to be honest, I kind of suspended any reality as far as I knew it early on in this conversation and just read for the fun of it!

You must be having a rendevous with my husband! We have conversations like that often. I CAN"T STAND IT! I hate to say this about my husband but he sounds really stupid when he says something like that. That really frustrates me. Can't you tell

I wouldn't think my husband was sweet if he said things like he was going to tell me he told me so, and that I had been warned. Doesn't that behaviour bother you?

Honestly, I would have rolled that rug right up and returned it after that "i warned you" comment.

Too funny! We just bought a rug too. I've been searching for one for months but dh is picky about the pattern and price. I finally found an 8x10 in a trendy pattern, in our colors for $300. Dh liked the pattern but said he thought it was still too expensive. I asked him how much he wanted to spend on a big rug and he said $100. The man has no idea how much stuff costs. I finally convinced him to just let me get it and we could return it if he really didn't like it. I ended up getting a discount because there was a small hole in the backing. Now I need to start looking for a coffee table.

I found an 8 x 10' rug at Ross in the perfect colors. It was $119. Hubby was so pleased with the price he never commented on the actual rug. I love it and it pulls all of the furniture together. I would have paid double for it. I would never have returned a rug after an I told you so. That would make me want to keep it even more.
