This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members . There are no prizes for this challenge, just a chance to enjoy the works of other Pokey Peas Refugees. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

How can it be August already. In a couple of weeks the kids will all be back in school and I feel like we've hardly had a summer. I really miss those long, lazy summer days when we were kids. Time slips by so quickly now.
I hope you each find time to do some scrapping this month. Be sure to share your projects!

Happy August, Pokeys. Hope everyone is having the summer they enjoy. We have had a crazy busy July. Not a lot on the agenda for August, but that could definitely change quickly.
Have a couple of dgs's here for a few days right now, aged 7 1/2 and almost 6, so they are keeping us busy. Plus my garden decided to produce a few things as well. Thankfully not the usual onslaught, but enough to keep me picking most of the day yesterday, when I wasn't riding around in the golf cart with the kids or taking pictures of their enjoying the old toys in the house and the stuff in the yard. On Saturday, we will be driving them to meet up with their dad at a team roping event.
Tuesday I will be taking my car in for a service, and will be printing the dgk photos, plus all the pic's I have from the crop this past weekend and the ScrapHappy trip to the mountains on Monday. So after that I will be ready to scrap when the garden gives me a bit of time.
Again, hope everyone is well and happy. Will get back to read your news and chat later. Right now dh has taken the boys to the bakery (his go-to coffee place) for breakfast, and I need to get a few things done around here before they get back. TTYL

Catching up from the last part of July and moving on in to August. joyfulnana, a bridal shower brunch would be fun with all your family there. It’s very sweet of you to run your mom around as well. I’m sure she appreciates it. As to time going slower as a kid. I think the same thing, but DD14 feels thisyear is flying by too. kellyr21, ouch! I hope your soreness has now left for good and that you have not fallen again. How has the new a/c been working? grammadee & justjac, glad you had fun at the crop. grammadee, you have been busy. Enjoy your time with the dgs and safe travels on Saturday. nylene, thanks for the new thread and being the best hostess. I definitely want time to slow down. We meet with his school counselor today to figure out his best class choices for the next 2 years, because he only has 2 years left of high school. I know he does school at home, and I get to see him all the time, but I’m not ready for him to grow up. msliz, how are you? I finally made my first doctor appointment. It is plantar fasciitis in my foot. I have a few exercises to do, and I ordered some shoes that the Peas have touted as great for it. I was also referred to a podiatrist. I have to go back for bloodwork and a general check-up since I haven’t been to a doctor since 2012. Not looking forward to it, but I will go. DH & DS are going this afternoon to an exclusive club to go fishing. DH’s friend invites him a couple of times a year and this is the first time DS gets to go. They’ll stay overnight there and then go to the farm tomorrow afternoon. They’ll meet the movers there. We’re trying to get a quote as to cost for the movers so DH can try to get some $ from the company instead of the company paying the movers. We want to move things in slowly and we’re not taking everything. Then we can just hire strong people for a few hours here and there to get the heavy stuff that we do want moved. We shall see. Friday night, DD & I are going to an outdoor movie. They have it at the river park by the theater. They’re playing the Princess Bride, a family favorite. Looking forward to it. Otherwise, I need to clean up as we’re having company on Sunday. Oh, and the power washer guys shorted out the outside outlet under the deck. So we can’t clean or use the pool until it’s fixed, so I’ll be looking for an electrician.

Wow I can't believe it's August! I hope everyone gets some time to craft this month. justjac, I didn't get back to last months thread but I wanted to say I love your curls! The crop sounded like a lot fun too. It's so cool that you and grammadee live close enough to get together so often. LisaDV good luck with getting the $$ upfront for the movers. I hope your DH can get that worked out the way you want. How much longer will you be going between the two houses? Two years will go by fast! I felt the same way about DS when they were having Rudy - that even though he was 32 that he wasn't old enough to be dad lol. He's a young spirit and doesn't seem anywhere near his age lol. But you know, I was TOTALLY ready to be a parent at 22 lol. grammadee I don't know how you do it. I wish I had even a small part of your energy! I'll be the DGK's are having a blast with you! We seem to spend a lot of time printing super hero coloring pages an coloring when DGS is here lol. nylene I swear I feel fall coming here already too. We haven't had our normal sweltering summer so it feels too soon for it to cool off much. But of course it's only the first, and we still have the "dog days" that could come and I probably jinxed myself lol. The shower was so fun and now we are planning a surprise birthday party for mom - it's her 80th! She has no idea so we are all looking forward to it. I've got my sketches all picked for sketchember and one of the layouts done. The twists always get me though so I've been thinking on that. I don't even know for sure that I'm hosting a certain day yet, but I want to be ready just in case lol. I've also got patch of redness that popped up on my chest a couple weeks ago. It isn't getting worse, but it's not getting better either and I'm going to have to make an appointment to have it looked at. I've had plenty of bad sunburns in my life and I don't have a good feeling about this spot. Have a great evening everyone!

Happy Thursday! Still in recovery mode but today was better. Just a little soreness in my shoulder but I am ok with that. When I think of how bad I could got hurt, I must thank God I got up with only some soreness. The a/c is growing on me. It seems to cover the whole space better than the other one. But our old one felt stronger when reached the couch, my usual spot. So, I think it will work. nylene- Thanks for our new thread. Sending you lots of well wishes today. Yes, I agree this summer is flying by. Wow! Football is on tonight, so I know Fall is near. LisaDV- Oh, your poor feet. I hope whatever treatment helps. I know that movie night with your dad will be good medicine. How fun! grammadee- Have fun with your little guys. I know you and your dh love time with the grands. Waving hi to you all and have a good evening.

Hey guys, here is my new test website! It was fun creating it all but still trying to decide if I will keep it. It is free with the current website name. But to get a shorter name of my choice, I have to pay a fee. I thought it was a monthly fee but it is a year upfront fee. Not ready to spend that type of money for a website. I do like how I can have pics, videos, a blog and other features al in one. Have fun exploring. Here is the link My WEBSITEjoyfulnana- I think we were posting at the same time yesterday! LOL! The party for your mom sounds so fun. I know she will be so surprised and happy to see all you have planned. Prayers up for your medical concerns. Hang in there!

Does everyone have a long weekend this weekend? We have Heritage Day on Monday in Canada. Lots of Heritage festivals with lots of choices of ethnic foods, dancing performances, colonial era events. A local community hosts Haying in the 30's every year with pioneer days type activities, lots of country music, and other activities. We have gone before, but not this weekend. I will be driving the little guys to their dad at a team roping event 3 1/2 hours in the opposite direction, and dh will be cutting hay. The weather has been so miserable in July when the haying is usually completed, that they are just starting now and can't afford to miss a day. Seems that I am the HEALTHY one this week! Ouch, kellyr21, that must have been quite the fall. Hope the aches go away soon. LisaDV I hope the doctor you have found will be able to help you with your foot issues. Dd's husband has had two different surgeries to correct that. Seems that the second one is working so far. joyfulnana, you need to get that checked out. Hopefully it is not what you are afraid it might be. And if it is that there is a quick effective fix for it. nylene, how are your knees doing? One positive side effect of my gallstone issues is that I have cut most of the fat from my diet, and there are many carbs I don't really like unless they are combined with fat (think bread without butter? no thanks). Of course the physio class I took helped too, and I am walking quite a bit, mostly circuits around our farm yard, but walking none the less. The result is that I have dropped nearly 20 pounds since April. So my knees are happier with my new weight I think. Boys are watching a movie on DVD. Their clothes are ready to come out of the dryer to go into their duffle bag. Hoping we have found all their precious stuff that needs to go home with them (I had them leave most of their travel activities in the vehicle so they will be interesting again for the drive tomorrow. The 7 1/2 year old told me today that he is definitely coming back next year to "help you with gardening". (I guess walking ankle deep in mud to pick peas and dig carrots has a certain fun factor!) Must go grab those clothes and get them folded...

kellyr21 I couldn't survive without A/C it gets so hot here. Plus I'm a wimp that can't live without my creature comforts I couldn't believe it when I saw that football had started. Yes!! Not so much for the game but because that means cooler weather is coming and things will slow down at work lol. I've never looked forward to winter the way I am this year. I'm glad your new unit is doing the job and that you are feeling better! LisaDV I keep thinking about your feet. I've had a couple bouts with plantar fasciitis that went away on their own ( I had no clue at the time what it was so I just pushed through) it's so painful! I hope the shoes help! I hate getting my annual bloodwork but I'm on thyroid meds so I have no choice. I hope everything comes out perfect! And I hope date night went well. I have never seen that movie lol. grammadee we have a long weekend over September 1st for Labor Day. I'm looking forward to it even though I'm not sure what I will be doing. Hopefully scrapping the whole weekend! I'm definitely going to get the spot looked at. I've been doing a little research and I'm pretty sure it's basal carcinoma from what I'm seeing. So nothing to mess with for sure! I'm going to get in to the Dr. ASAP! Waving to all the pokeys! ETA: kellyr21! Your new website is awesome and your paintings are beautiful! You are so talented and I would never have guessed you are self taught! My favorites are the Love, Peace, Joy painting and there were several floral paintings that I was swooning over!

Gramadee, congratulations on the 20#! My knees are doing better but I desperately need to lose some wt to help them. I started on nutrisystem last week. Dont like it much, but am going to stick with it for the 2 months I signed up for. Tiny tiny little portions and not enough protein for me and too much sugar. I will have to break the sugar addiction again after I finish nutrisystem but I hope it will help me with portion control and too much snacking.
Best wishes and prayers to all of you who are dealing with health issues. Lisa, I've had plantar fasciitis too and I tried lots of different things and it finally just went away on it's own after about two years. I had cushions that I got at an athletic store for my heels and also took anti inflammatory meds like ibuprofen.
I'm plugging away at scrapbooking the grands. Having fun with all the pics I took at our 5 star hotel today. I need to finish them, I keep thinking about going again! We are going to make a run to Lubbock next weekend to see them in aesop's fables, a community play. They say they have the starting roles. We'll see! We have another theater we like to go to there and they are doing "Mary" (mother of jesus) so we're doing a theater weekend. We are thinking about going on up to New Mexico to the mountains to get out of the desert for a few days after that as dh has a few days off. And he desperately needs a rest from work. And I need some pics! Happy end of summer to all you pokeys!

joyfulnana, Did you make your appointment yet? I hope it’s just a rash and will be better with some medicine. We’ll always be between the 2 houses since we’re not getting rid of the farm. However, we do plan to eventually have most of our stuff here (or have bought new for here). You’ve never seen the Princess Bride? You must see it! If I could, I would have you over for a movie night! The stretches have really been helping with the PF. I couldn’t do one of the exercises but found a few more online and a couple of those have been really making the difference. Although I’ve also not been overdoing it on my feet either. kellyr21, pretty revamp for your blog. I’m glad you’re a/c is working for you at least. Hope your soreness is gone too. grammadee, enjoy your long weekend! Wishing you safe travels as well. I’m wondering if my bunions (inherited from my mom’s side of the family) play any part in the PF acting up. I’m sure they’d want to remove them. But I think the PF was caught in time to correct with just proper shoes and exercises and probably loosing lots of weight would help too. Ah, youth, when chores were fun activities instead of work. I remember ds enjoying doing dishes, he said he’d do them all the time he was so happy. DH made him repeat it for the video camera so he could hold it over him for eternity. Lol. @elaynef, I just started with only fruits and vegetables until dinner the other day. I have a juice in the morning, then I can either do juice or something with just fruits and vegetables for lunch. I’ve had salad the last few days with all the ripe vegetables. But I’m also going to make a vegetable soup. I have some acorn squash that I’ll stuff with mushrooms and spinach as well. Then I make a normal dinner. My salads have been huge, but I find that by dinner I’m lessening my portions. I’ve been still having a couple of pieces of chocolate, so that’s next to give up. Enjoy your trip! DS was in bed most of today. He pulled his back or kinked it or something. He’s now up and doing better. He is fit but needs to really work on stretching. DD went with DH to a local town’s festival. They close off main street and put up a big water slide. The money goes to the park district. DH just called and is on his way home, so I’m going to start dinner. Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

The boys were dropped off; I had a chance to watch some roping (and take some photos); and I am now home safely. Will check back in a day or two when my brain is functioning again. Right now I just. Need. To. SLEEP...

grammadee congrats on the weight loss and the improvements in your health! You sound exhausted after your week. I hope you get lots of rest! @elaynef I joined WW at the first of the year and have lost *almost* 10 lbs but I have to admit to not working the program like I should. I walk out of meeting every Saturday full of motivation and that motivation is gone by Wednesday or Thursday lol. Have fun next weekend watching the play! Soon DGS will be old enough for things like that. His preschool had a Christmas program last year, he started out great then noticed the whole crowd of people and crouched down and hid his face for the rest of it. Poor guy. LisaDV I have not made an appointment yet, I will be doing that first thing in the morning. I'm trying to stay calm about it until I know for sure but of course my mind isn't cooperating with that lol. I didn't think you were selling the farm, but I couldn't remember for sure. I love that DH took a video of DS saying he loves doing the dishes! LOL DS will regret that lol. I remember when my oldest was 5 or 6 and said he wanted to take me on a date when he was 16. He didn't think it was too funny or cute when he turned 16 and I reminded him of that lol. I think stretching would be good for everyone. I'm glad the stretches are helping you! There are soooo many movies I've never seen! I really get the "what??!!!" when I say I've never seen The Little Mermaid, or any of the Harry Potter movies, or Fast Times at Ridgemont High lol. I have seen parts of lots of movies, but it wasn't until the last few years that I really started watching full movies lol. I hope you are having a great weekend nylene! And on a side note, I finally checked out one of the LSS here in the area and while it's on the smaller side, she carries all the newest lines. She even had a couple of KaiserCraft lines that I didn't thing were coming out until September. Workshop, and one of the winter lines I can't remember the name of. She has a two day crop every other month and they do a Shop Hop with 5 other LSS in the area once a year with make and takes and shopping discounts. I was so excited at the idea of crops that I came home and found a crop group that is having a crop near me next weekend so I signed up lol. I won't know a soul but that's ok. It was $20 and I have no real details about meals or what comes with it. I'm waiting for an email with the details, but I figured I would give it a try anyway. I'm so excited to expand my scrappy horizons here finally lol. And it will be good to be out of my apartment after a week of working in it. I've been feeling cooped up and need to get back to morning walks before work to get outside just a bit. Anyway, hope everyone has a great day!

Good Monday morning, Pokeys! How cool that you found the LSS, joyfulnana. Glad you signed up for the crop. Bet you will have fun. I like scrapping here on my own but find it really inspirational to see what others are doing. Maybe you will end up doing this on a regular basis? @elaynef, I hope you share your family vacation pages. I love seeing all your adventures. I am not on an official weight loss plan: just reduced fat and carbs really. And more exercise. Eating less; drinking more water; moving more. Hadn't thought to weigh myself until a couple of weeks ago and it was a nice surprise. Hang in there. I find that when I DO start a diet that the cravings back off after the first week or so and it gets easier. Also helps to focus on what I CAN eat rather than what I can't have. Love the look of your new website, kellyr21. Are you still doing some scrapping, or are you back to other crafts and making cards? How is your summer going, msliz? Are you still busy in the yard and spending time with family or have you had time to do some papercrafts? Well, I need to get out and pick something in the garden, then come in and do something with it. Hoping to get my crop crap unpacked and put away today as well. We are going to our nephew's for a weiner roast for supper, and I am taking peas in the shell (picked yesterday), so no work involved there. And dh will be over there helping with the haying most of the day so I should have this place to myself for a few hours. Have a marvelous Monday and a wonderful week!

We left on Friday for a road trip. We spent 3 great days together seeing beautiful vistas we have never seen before. Now I have a lot more photos to scrap, as if I didn't already have a room full. LOL DH really needed a break from work and this was a great getaway. In the Golf Course business you can never get away. He describes it as like being a farmer with cows that must be milked twice daily whether you need a vacation or not. It was great to get him away. I hope he really will retire after this year. LisaDV, I did get new shoes. They are Hokas that I got at the Runners store. I can't believe the difference. My knee is still awful as I stand up after sitting, but once I start walking, the pain goes away. I wouldn't have believed they could make this much difference. I am thinking I can wait another 6 months before surgery. I hope your DS is feeling better and that his back will heal. How is the Plantar Fasciitis doing? kellyr21, your new website is really pretty. I'm sure it's hard deciding whether to make an expensive change. I also love your older blog. How are you feeling today? I hope the soreness is about gone. It's great that the air conditioner is helping with the heat. It's starting to cool off here in the evenings. When I take DH to work at 5:45 A.M. I have to put on a jacket. By mid-day it's in the 90's but not for very long. joyfulnana, congrats to you and grammadee on the weight loss. I need to get back on my diet. We did really well a couple of years ago, but I am slowly gaining it back. I am glad now that I can do some walking. That will really help. Your crop sounds like fun. It's been years since I have scrapped anywhere but home. I hope you get a lot done and meet some other great scrappers. grammadee, I'm glad you didn't come home to veggies going to waste. It sounds like you have had a wonderful time scrapping, touring and enjoying the grands. I'm sorry you missed the Heritage celebrations. You are a busy lady! I'm glad your knee is doing well enough to do a lot of walking and that your "innards" are behaving themselves. @elaynef, I would love to see your photos of the activities with your grandsons. Such wonderful memories. I have wondered about the NutriSystem plan. We each lost 50 lbs on My Fitness Pal and after the first month, it wasn't very hard, just small portions. I just missed the sweets and snacks. That's my downfall. Tomorrow I am going to a neighboring county to help judge their County Fair. I was hoping to judge children's 4-H projects that I am very comfortable with, but they have me slated to judge open class (adults) quilts. I love quilts and quilting, but I haven't made a quilt for about 8 years. I hope I am judging with someone who has made some recently. I know a lot of things have changed with new piecing and binding techniques. I have a couple of things to post for this month, things I started last month but couldn't get finished.

It's Thursday! The week is flying right by me! I feel like I have been playing catch-up all week. Managed to freeze some raspberry fruit earlier and some freezer jam today. Picked, shelled and froze a bunch of peas (not nearly as many as we usually harvest, but it was nice to get some put away). Really need to check them again soon, but this afternoon I have a hair appointment and need to do some banking in town. How are all the Pokeys doing? I see from the Gallery that justjac is scrapping up a storm at her mom's. Sounds like a wonderful road trip, nylene. Glad you both had a good time and that you got some great photos. Can't wait to see your pages with them. How is everyone at your house, LisaDV? Hoping your feet are treating you better. How is your ds's back? Did the issue with the electricity get solved? That would be really frustrating to have a pool but not be able to use it. I did some scrapping today!!! Finished a two pager I started yesterday, but won't be sharing it until Friday evening b/c it is a sample for Sketchy Saturday. Have another two pager on the go, but it "needs something" so it is sitting waiting for inspiration to hit me on what that something is... Have my August calendar page on the go, too: have cut the title with my Silhouette (while I was cutting something for the one on my counter). I need to find a sheet of pp I * think* I packed up to take to the crop in July. Will check the crop bag first and then dig into my drawer with all the SUMMER stuff. I unpacked the bag with the tools and inks and photos today. Just the bag with the papers needs to be emptied. I also need to go through the bag of freebies and purchases from the crop. Not even sure what is in there, but I know that justjac posted a challenge to use something that was FREE, so I need to dig that stuff out and USE it!

Hi all and happy Thursday! I haven't been feeling that great with woman monthly issues but feeling better at this moment. So I will be thankful for that. My soreness is gone from the fall and getting back to my routines now. I haven't been doing much creatively but did start a new card with my card kit I got from HSN. I want to continue that today and also crochet. My crochet class has been cancelled for several weeks now due to broken a/c. It's too hot in there at night for us to be comfortable. So hopefully they will get it fixed so we can get back to the fun. joyfulnana- I smiled as you talked about your need for a/c too. Our new one is still on trial. I does cool the space but it feels indirect and sometimes I want to know for sure it is cold on a hot day. So we will see. grammadee- I am glad you had a fun time with your little dgs. Will you be spending time with them again soon? Oh how fun you had enough raspberries to freeze. Any plans for pie soon? As far as my crafting goes, I am working on a card album and crocheting. I hope to get back to my floral painting I started. I sometimes have to let them sit and then try them again later. nylene- SO happy you two got to get away!!! I know it must of been restful just to be away. Hope you both are doing well today. LisaDV- How are you doing? Hang in there! Waving hello to all you ladies and have a good evening!

Hello, Pokey Friends! It seems like this week has sped by. I loved judging the quilts at the neighboring County Fair. So many gorgeous and intricate artworks. The next day I took Alex to a new park in a neighboring city. He was ready to go at 7 a.m. so we got an early start. It was a delightful park and once a few other children came to play with him, he never stopped running and jumping. He played hard for 3 hours and then wanted to stop at Walmart on the way home to look at Legos. We took 2 steps into the store and he changed his mind. He said his legs were too tired. LOL. That's a first, his mom said. She can't remember a time he said he was tired. kellyr21, your beautiful card arrived today. It is so exquisite. You do beautiful work. I hope you took a photo to post here. If not, I will take one and post it for you. I love the interactive pop ups. Thank you so much. I hope you can get back to your crocheting group. That sounds like a nice evening out for you and look at what you have learned and made! grammadee, your frozen berry jam sounds delicious. Mom had a huge raspberry patch and although I didn't enjoy picking the berries, I loved the jam we could make. I had to chuckle about your unloading your scrap things a little at a time. That's what happens with my card club supplies every month and I don't take that much. Just lots of other things to get done. joyfulnana, is the Crop this weekend? I hope you have a great time. The Shop Hop sounds like lots of fun. I really miss having local scrapbook stores. I chuckled at the movies you haven't seen. I think I'm the only person on earth who hasn't seen Star Wars and have no desire to see it. I tried 3 times to watch Princess Bride and just can't get into it. (sorry, LisaDV) We see all the Pixar movies and a lot of the Disney ones, but that's about it for us. LisaDV, I hope you can get some "me" time this weekend. You are such a busy mom. When do you think you will be back into your pool? I'll bet your family is missing it. How are the feet doing? My knee is so much better, I can't believe it. Amazing what good shoes will do. I need to catch up with all the postings this week. I did have time in my scraproom today, but the rest of the week was too busy. Have a great weekend, everyone.

So glad you enjoyed the Fair, nylene and that Alex had a blast at the park. Hope you got photos! Dd & family are here for the weekend. And I need to get out into the garden to do a little harvesting this morning. Dd wants a gluten free zucchini chocolate cake and I just need to assemble the ingredients. Finally managed to finish, photograph and post some scrapbook pages yesterday. Here are a couple of my favourite LO's: Ropin' by Gramma Dee, on Flickr August 2020 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Won't be playing with paper again until at least Monday.

I've been wanting to get on and read and post but life is a little hectic this week. Hopefully I'll get a chance to catch up on everyone later this weekend. Except joyfulnana , I hope you made your appointment!! I did! And I kept it! It was Thursday and the NP thinks it's something fungal which is odd, so she prescribed a cream. If it's not gone in 8 weeks she said they will scrape it and send it but she's pretty positive it's nothing to worry about. Which as a relief I have to say.

Hi Everyone! I can't believe how the week just gets away from me! This week because of work and um... TV DS I have our "stories" we watch together and he sucked me into another after we started re-watching Stranger Things from the beginning lol. It's called "The Boys" on amazon and it comes with every single rating available but it's good so far. It's about rogue super heros so right up my alley lol. but now it seems like all my free evenings are taken up with shows. I used to try to scrap a couple evenings a week but I finally came to the realization that I'm just too tired after work so I'm going to save that for the weekends. Sundays are usually quiet around here and I tend to get the most done that day. nylene the crop was yesterday and I loved it! I ended up leaving an hour early because I had hit the scrappy wall but I'm going to go as often as possible. I met some great ladies and it's just so much fun to be with other people that get this hobby! I'm glad you enjoyed being a quilt judge! And your day with Alex sounds fun. And he's just too funny! When Rudy is here he wants to be a homebody and not go anywhere. He even turned down a new toy once because he didn't want to run errands with me lol. I'm so glad you got some time out and away! That's awesome! grammadee I think I could use your time management skills! You have so many things going on and yet you find time or it all. Raspberry jam sounds amazing. I love raspberry everything! Especially paired with chocolate though lol. I bet you are loving all the time with your kids and grands though. Lots of memories to scrap! Your crop with justjac sounded so awesome and I love free stuff! They had random give a ways at the crop yesterday but I'm not lucky like that, so nothing for me lol. Instead I somehow came home with some Kiwi Lane templates and kits lol. Definite impulse purchase and I'm questioning it now lol. But I will try them out, who knows I might like them a lot! LisaDV how are you doing? Are your feet feeling any better? Do you have your pool back yet? I hope things calm down for you, but like grammadee you are a busy lady! I just am in awe at all the things you make from scratch and how hard to you work to keep your family healthy. And managing two houses! Kudos to you! I managed to get about 8 pages done yesterday except for finishing touches and some need photos. But two of my layouts are done for Sketchtember. I want them all done this month. I need to get caught up on the things that have shared so far and get some commenting done. And then cleaning and maybe some meal prep for the week. I slept in pretty late for me today and that was so good too. Have a happy Sunday everyone!

Happy Sunday! Hope you all are having a restful weekend. Not much going on here but hope to make a few stops to the stores this evening. I am working on a new "Inspired She" that I hope to get out later this week. Very excited to share my next guest. nylene- So glad you got the card!!! I totally forgot to take a picture of it!!!! Yes, you can post a picture if you like. Man, how did I forget that? LOL! The fair sounds like it was fun. I haven't been to the fair since my dear Peter the lamb was shown and given to the fair. Maybe I am over it and ready to try the county fair again. I will have to look for the 4H club activities. joyfulnana- Thank God you are ok and got that appt behind you. Whew!!! SO happy for you. Weekend scrapping is always a good way to relax and recharge your batteries. Hope you got to do some today. I'll have to tell my dh about the Amazon show, Boys. He loves super heroes. We just joined Amazon Prime and I am loving all the classic movies and tv shows they have. Also, that free shipping is awesome! LisaDV- How are ya doing? Oh, how was the movie outdoor night with your dd? We had one last night here in town but we missed it. I hope they have it again. I would love to go. The movie was Star Wars,A New Hope featured at the Space Center Museum. Waving hi to you all!

joyfulnana, I am glad you kept your appt and that it is curable. If it continues, I hope you will go back. 8 pages?? that sounds wonderful. I look forward to seeing them. I hope the up coming crops are as much fun. Glad you got to meet new people who also love our hobby. kellyr21, I will take a photo of the front and inside of your card. It's amazing. It's a week of eye appts, dental appts, haircut for DH and another doctor appt. It may be the end of the week before I get it posted here. It seems everything comes at once. grammadee, how did the gluten-free cake turn out. I hope you enjoyed having family around for the weekend. LisaDV, I hope you have had a scrappy weekend. I just got a call from my brother who is throwing together a family reunion at his home on the river in Idaho over Labor Day weekend. Em jumped on the internet and got rooms for us together at the hotel and we are looking forward to a weekend together. He has been doing so much traveling for work that he wasn't sure he could host it and it's last minute but I think many of the family will be able to come. He also invited me to have the Reunion at his home next year when it's my turn to plan it. It's a 4 hour drive to get there, but it is such a beautiful place and you can walk down and play in the river. There's also a l-o-n-g hill that makes a great slip n slide with some plastic tarps for the younger children. I cut a bunch of things for cards last night. I promised a box of Wedding cards to 2 of my girls. Seems like we go through those so fast! Have a great week!

Oh, nylene , that reunion sounds wonderful! Glad your dd got right on it and booked hotels. Good luck with all your appointments this week. Looking forward to seeing kellyr21 's card. How sweet of her to send it! Hoping your life gets a little less hectic this week, LisaDV . And that you can find shoes to provide you some relief from the pf. Glad the doctor thinks that your rash is something quickly treatable joyfulnana , and that the cream provides the relief you need. Awesome that you found a fun and welcoming group of ladies to crop with. Hope you sign up for all of their crops. Can't imagine coming home from a full day's work and diving right into my scraproom. Of course you are tired during the week. And taking a break to watch shows with your ds sounds like wonderful bonding time. Dd and family headed home after an early supper yesterday, and I collapsed into my reclinable bed to "watch" TV. Dh hit the recliner in the living room in front of a football game. I don't think either of us caught much of what was on the screen. It was a busy weekend! Grampa and I tag teamed with the little guy outside most of both days: he came with a list of all the things he wanted to do and we made sure he got to check off everything on it. He helped in the garden, rode on everything with wheels, helped Grampa look after the neighbour's dogs, blew bubbles, talked our ears off. That gave dd & hubby a chance to relax and recharge, even go out on a date night on Saturday. The cake turned out really well. With all the zucchini and chocolate in it it is pretty moist and heavy, and I don't think it matters what flour you use. It was a recipe for a 9x13" cake, but I baked it in two 8" square pans that have lids. We ate most of one of them Saturday and Sunday, and I sent the other one home with them. On Sunday we had what I call "summer stew", which is regular beef stew but it has all the fresh garden veggies in it. Dh's appetite has been really suppressed by one of the meds he is on, but he enjoyed the cake had at least two helpings of the stew. And I managed to eat the cake AND the stew with biscuits with no twinges from my gall bladder. Guess you could call it a delicious weekend! Oh! Oh! Oh! and we might be getting a pup! A family member of a friend of our BC ddil has a couple of border collie cross pups he wants to give away. I made arrangements to see them this upcoming Sunday. If one of them seems like a fit for our yard, the owner has agreed to take her to the vet for spaying and home with him to recover before we pick her up. If that is the case, Dh will need to get busy on finishing the kennel so we can bring her home... Today I am hoping to finish a page I have had out on my counter since Friday and I may start another two pager. I need to check a few things in the garden and might pick the last of the raspberries, but no big projects until later in the week.

Happy Tuesday! I was working on some cards last night and it felt good. I plan to continue today. My fil gave me a photo printer and I am so excited to set it up today and test it out. I have wanted to print my own prints for a while and if feels good to know I can do at least in small numbers. I ordered photo paper from Amazon and it came the next day! I am a new Amazon Prime member and they don't mess around!!! LOL! Did a little crocheting and will do more tonight. nylene- That is great to take a picture of that card. I already forgot what it looked like. So I will be happy to see it again. Your family reunion sounds so fun. Hey, I am part of the family too! Where is my invite? LOL! Just kidding! But I am happy you all will be able to spend time together. Hang in there with this busy week. grammadee- You have been busy too. That cake sounds like it was a big hit. Oh, if you get the puppy, I want to see a picture of that cute doggy. I sure wish I could have a dog or cat. But one day I WILL! I grew up with dogs and cats. They were always a lot of fun and some work too. Waving hi to all you ladies! Have a great rest of your day!

Hey all, here is a new blog post with a free photobook I ordered and designed at Shutterfly. I got it a few months ago and it turned out so pretty, I ordered a duplicate. I hope to do another one with personal pictures. Of course, I will have to pay but maybe I can take advantage of some of their deals. Hope you all stop by Kelly's Book

Wow, time sure does fly. joyfulnana, yay! I’m glad you made the appointment and hope the cream will work for you. I wish I could do a quarterly movie night with you. You aren’t missing anything by not seeing the Harry Potter movies. They’re okay, but not great. DH & I are watching the Boys right now!! We have 2 episodes to go. Hopefully we’ll finish it this weekend. I’m glad you enjoyed your crop! That’s a really good idea since you work at home. grammadee, I’m glad you were able to put a little something in the freezer from your garden. My CSA posted on facebook yesterday that she had a box of tomatoes for putting up. I just didn’t have the time right then to do it. Those pages are wonderful. I love your water splash for August. Your dgs knows how to pack a weekend with fun! I think he gets that from you. Oh, puppies! How exciting! nylene, what a wonderful break! You both needed it I’m sure. I’m glad you got new shoes and that they are helping. I posted on NSBR about the best sneakers for PF. I have a podiatrist appointment on September 3rd. I’ve realized that it’s best to keep that first. If they make orthotics, then take those to a runners store and get fitted from there. I just really miss sneakers. I’m currently wearing a pair of vionic slip on sandals which help, but I’m not really a sandals all the time person. Sounds like Alex wore himself out! That’s awesome. I love to watch kids playing and having fun. I wish I could have been there at the fair to see all the quilts. What a wonderful chance to connect with family your reunion will be!! My sister and bil are coming up here for labor day weekend. I’m looking forward to it. kellyr21, I’m glad your soreness has left you. Sorry about your crochet class, hopefully they will fix that soon. We had a good time at the outdoor movie. Next year we hope to go to more. How sweet of your fil! I’m glad to see you crafting too. The PF is only in my left foot. I can walk about 3 miles and then the pain starts. Or if I’m just in the kitchen doing my thing, standing, cooking, about 3 hours and I’m hurting. This is a big improvement over what it was which I think is due to the exercises and the Vionic sandals. Also the pain isn’t as bad and I don’t hurt the next day due to today’s activity. Definitely a BIG improvement. I finally found not 1 but 2 electricians who would come help us. The first had a job that took less time than they scheduled showed up today and just did a temporary patch for the pool pump. He’s currently working 6-weeks out but with the temp patch he said he’d try to get that taken care of in the next 30 days. The 2nd guy scheduled me for August 29th. So if the 1st hasn’t arrived to fix the patch or to take a look at the other items on our list, then at least I have this guy scheduled. DH should be able to clean the pool this weekend. Although today he left for Ohio, but he’ll be back tomorrow. We went to the zoo over the weekend and then out for custard and dinner. Dinner out? Because DH asked what’s for dinner? And I replied “whatever you want to make.” My foot was already hurting from all the walking. But walking is good for PF too, so… and the plus is we went out to dinner. Although it was good, a fancy place. I just cook better at home. DH, DS & I all had steaks from a place known for their steaks. DS grilled some better ones recently. I’ve just been doing normal life stuff. I did do 4 pages. It was for a digital designer’s challenge. Suppose to do each one in under 30 minutes. I think it took me way longer than 30 minutes to just pick out each of my elements. Of course, I was doing it in spare minutes here or there, so I could be wrong. I’ll try to link them soon. Got to get off here and plan out what’s next on my to do list. I have to run to the library to return some stuff tomorrow so I’m thinking of doing some banking as well. Wishing everyone a wonderful week!

Hello Pokeys - sorry I've been missing since June.
DS was home on leave for about 5 weeks which was wonderful! He left yesterday to drive to VA - he checks into his new command tomorrow morning. He had a hard time lining up a place to live - rental agencies weren't returning his call, he applied for a place only to find it was already rented, and then the complexes all seemed to only have availability in mid October. He finally got approved for an apartment on Tues - and will be able to move in next Tuesday. Thankfully his Command offered him a room in the barracks until then.
And his truck died last week so he had to rush around looking for something else that would be able to tow a trailor - bought a suburban on Tuesday, rented a uhaul trailer, and we loaded it up that evening. It's nice suburban - 2006 but top of the line for that year - but an unexpected expense.
DD12 went back to school on Monday - she's in 7th grade now. She has been tardy every single day so far due to the buses being off schedule. Hopefully that gets resolved soon - she has maths first thing and the teacher isn't thrilled about the tardiness. Plus it means she misses school breakfast and has to eat at home (she's not one to want to eat first thing in the morning so school breakfast is better for her timing-wise)
DD18 is still home - she goes back to college on the 24th.
I haven't scrapbooked since early June - I'm hoping to get back to it soon.

Good to hear from you, Linda. You have had a VERY busy summer. No wonder you have had no time to scrap! But I bet you have tons of memories--and the photos to prove them! And you will be coming back just in time: this next month is Sketchtember with a new sketch every day to keep you motivated. Sounds like you have been buried under "life stuff", too, LisaDV. I hope the fall will give you a little more time to play, whether with paper or in digi land. Glad to hear you are recovered from your fall, kellyr21 and that you have been back doing art and cards and working on your blog. I hope to get over there when I get a minute around here. I signed up for miniLOAD which is a LayOut A Day for a week, starting on the 13th. So far I am 3 for 3, but am having issues with my email provider this morning, so am having trouble sending my pic of today's LO from my phone to my computer so I can go through my normal process for uploading to Flickr. I was hoping to do the upload quickly and then get on with my day. Making a big batch of mustard relish. Had to buy cukes b/c no one has any yet around here (bad weather), but the cauliflower is ready and I have the time, so today is the DAY. I make it every couple of years: it is my "secret" ingredient in lasagna and spaghetti sauce--gives them a bit of a kick without the need to add garlic. Ran the jars through the dishwasher, drove to town for the cukes, and picked the rest of the veggies yesterday, so as soon as I get my butt out of this chair the productions should start... If I don't return, look for me at the bottom of a big MESS in my kitchen!
