I did 2 LOs and made my MIL a birthday card today. I love to do both, but I end up getting bored making cards. Using photos is more interesting to me. Plus, I feel restricted in such a small space. My ideas are always way bigger than the card. I'm a make a card as I need it kinda girl. I don't send handmade cards to people that would not appreciate I took the time to make it, except sympathy cards. I haven't sent a store bought sympathy card in over 10 year. It helps me process the death better when it's someone I knew that passed, and somehow feels more personal to a friend when their family member, I didn't know, passes. I make shower and wedding cards, because they are usually kept. I keep a supply of 2 @ $1.00 cards for nieces and nephews that only open the envelope to catch what falls out of the card (they are all really good about saying thank you). My MIL and mom both have photo albums they keep all my cards in. They truly consider the card part of their gift.
That's the great thing about paper crafting. Your stash is always there for you. Need to make a card? Make it! Want to do some scrappin'? Pull out some pictures! Feeling messy? Break out the gesso, paper, and paint! NO boundaries! Go where your mood and creativity takes you!

I am the complete opposite. I would much rather scrap a page than make a card. I see some lovely cards at some crops I go to, and I'm just not interested. I don't even like to receive them because I don't want to throw them away, but what do I do with them? One more thing to sit around. I do still send out store bought Christmas cards, and love to receive them, but other than that I rarely send or receive cards. This is me as well. I bought a lot of stuff to make cards, but I just can't wrap my head around putting all that effort into making something that I know will end up in the trash. The first time I made cards was at a workshop a SU consultant was having. It was fun and the cards were beautiful. I made the mistake of saying something like "You know, these all end up in the trash, right?" They looked at me like I had run over their cat or something. Major faux pas. Don't get me wrong, I realize my scrapbooks will end up in the trash someday. But I'll be 6 ft. under or in an urn, so I won't know.

I'm just the opposite -- I HATE making cards. I just don't get inspired and they never meet my expectations.
With all the products and tools that I have, I feel guilty when I don't create my own cards so I do it; but they are definitely not my passion.
I see beautiful cards and wish I could create them, but it just doesn't come together for me. My passion is scrapbooking. I make cards with my scraps. I respect everyone's talent.

Most of the time they don't come out as pretty as I thought they would, so I'm frustrated. Or, they are incredibly cute and I hate to give them away, knowing where all my hard work ends up. Like you, I keep plugging away because I have all the stuff (which I keep buying, hoping that it will inspire me!). <sigh>

I think we need to see some pictures of these fabulous cards everyone is making. :-) Here's a few I made this Halloween, I haven't been crafting a ton, so making a card was a quick (20 min or so) way to just do *something*:

OK, if those cards took you only 20 minutes, I am doing something very, very wrong.
They're adorable, btw!

I haven't made a layout in a while and I have been feeling kind of guilty about that and really I have been wanting to do some fall scrapping. But I haven't. My desk is a mess. Last night I watched a bunch of Kristina Werner's card videos and I just felt an all consuming need to make a card! I get so excited at the thought of making a card and stamping and coloring the image, etc. I don't get that thrill about making pages anymore. *sigh* I miss that feeling. So maybe I should just accept the fact that I'm more of a card maker now and just make cards and be happy. Has anyone else felt like this? I'll never give up scrapbooking but cards are just such a quick project that brings me satisfaction. That's why I switched to using divided sheet protectors. I like adding a cute thing here and there, putting some journaling, not thinking about an entire page design, and being done!
