I need recommendations on something that really works to protect delicate hair and will leave it silky soft. I don't care if it is low end, mid range, or even high end. I am not opposed to silicones.
I do know that the answer is not Dove. That stuff leaves a sticky film and doesn't do anything to help the flat iron work.
My (not natural) blonde hair burns easily and this humidity is killing me. Five minutes after I do my hair, I look like I could play the lead role in the Lion King.

My favorite is Kenra Blow-Dry Spray. You can use it on damp hair before drying, or on dry hair before heat styling. I have fine hair and it never weighs it down, and always leaves my hair smooth and soft.

Aveda Smooth Infusion Style Prep It's amazing! After your hair is dry, 1-3 pumps in your palm (depending on length of hair) smooth over top layer of hair and then style. A bottle lasts longer than it looks like. Aveda

I’ve tried so many, including the expensive ones, and I keep returning to L’Oreal’s Sleek It Iron Straight spray. It leaves my hair soft but feeling clean.

I like Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging CC Cream and then a spray of the restructuring bond leave in heat protection spray. I have fine wavy hair and I've tried a lot of products and these are my favorites.

I use their cherry bark products, and love the scent of the Rosemary & Mint products...but their signature scent does not work for me.

I use tresemme heat protectant spray and like it. I spray it right after I get out of the shower, let hair dry to damp, then style.

Five minutes after I do my hair, I look like I could play the lead role in the Lion King. I used to use Frizz Ease syrum when I left my hair curly, and I grew dependent on it. It made my hair more dry and damaged.
I've lived in FL for 8 years now and I blow my hair out once a week. No curls unless I want to leave it curly. It stays 'straight' or I add some waves if I want, for 1 week. The ONLY product I use once I wash/condition my hair is coconut oil. For me, the curls and frizz are gone, and my blonde/blonde colors are well treated and healthy! I swear by it!!
(I do a quick flatiron after I blow it out, and then sometimes add back some texture--waves or loose curls. Honestly, it stays this way for up to a week in this humidity and even rain!!!!!!!!!!)

If the humidity is causing problems, you probably need a hair spray after flat ironing. I use this ION Blowout Flexible Finishing Spray, it's not sticky and doesn't leave my hair crunchy, I can still pull my fingers through it but it does help keep the humidity at bay.
