I'm pretty sure I'm getting a Big Shot for Christmas. I want to use my blue hard plastic Fiskars Texture Plates with it since using the tool for them is tedious. I've Googled and YouTubed and every place I've looked has used a different process / sandwich. I don't really have the money to buy and try five different ways, so has anyone on here used them together, and how?
Thanks!

From the little that I've read it seems like it can damage the BS if you don't use the correct thickness of a shim. Is it too much money to invest in embossing folders that are meant to be used in the BS? Possibly you can sell your Fiskar embossing plates and use that money to buy embossing folders??? Sorry I can't give you any help w/ a correct sandwich. Hope someone here can help.

I read that, too. Dang. Maybe I'll try the rolling pin idea I saw. :-)

The Fiskars Texture plates are a little bit THINNER than the Sizzix texture plates. Sizzix does make a kit that comes with plates AND an Impressions Pad and Silicone mat. You can buy them separately at Sizzix.com or buy a kit with a bunch. I found a sale on this a long time ago. They still make them and you can buy them separately. Maybe someone else knows if it is the same as the Spellbinders silicone mat. I DO know there is a gasket for plumbing that is the same but I've never seen it. You use the Multipurpose platform with Tab 1 (Tab 2 is folded back, NOT used). NO cutting mat under the plate, then the texture plate with your design facing up, paper, silicone rubber, Impressions Pad on top. You need a shim for FISKARS plates but NOT Sizzix. On top of the impressions pad OR under the texture plate, shim with thick cardstock. You can try and see if cereal box cardstock works as a shim. Hope this helps. Run it through WITHOUT a shim first to get the idea what "feels" right. It won't be so tight going in as with the Sizzix plate but embossing won't be as deep. If it is VERY difficult going through, it is TOO thick of a shim, get something thinner. Silicone matImpressions mat

I use my Fiskar plates in the electric Big Shot without problems. I do find that it helps to lightly spritz the paper with alcohol ( drys fast) or water first to get a deeper impression. If I'm too lazy to get out the mister, I will run the paper through 2 or 3 times for a deeper impression.
Like the others have said- start slow and without shims to see how your machine works.
