I have a few pieces of the snow village series and I want to buy more. Where do you normally get your pieces at? I have looked at ebay but the shipping cost makes them just as much as ordering direct from Dept. 56.

High end thrift stores have them at times. Also check Craig's List. I've sold several on that. It's pretty difficult to find new ones discounted. Ebay is very disappointing these days.

I have a Dicken's Village collection ... when I'm looking to purchase a piece or two for a cheaper price I always look at a local site called Kijiji ... it's kind of like Craigslist and I've had really good luck

I second looking at craigslist. I've also seen pieces at garage sales. I love how they look!

New ones are getting hard to find locally.
I used to be able to buy them at Hallmark stores and we had a large florists shop that had big beautiful displays at Christmas time.
When we lived in Texas, there was a gift shop on Main Street in Grapevine that had a whole room of Dept 56 displays and they sold them year-round. That's where I purchased most of my Halloween Dept 56 items.
I've pretty much stopped buying them because I have no room to store any more.

There is a huge store in Fredericksburg, Texas that has tons of them.

I collected some of the North Pole pieces over the years from stores that carried them locally, and from the Dept. 56 store that used to be in Downtown Disney. There was one piece that I always wanted, and I bought it last year on eBay. The prices and shipping vary, so if you keep watching you might find something that's reasonable.

I have a lot of the North Pole Village. There are a few little collector shops near me that carry them and that is where I usually get them. I find on eBay it seems that they go for more the closer to the holidays it gets.

We used to be able to by ours at a local department store but they don't carry them anymore. Since then I have bought them on ebay - its been a couple years since I bought a new one. I have had my eye on the vineyard one but it's too pricy

We do the D56 Halloween Village. I don't think we have paid full price for many pieces at all. My husband enjoys the hunt and gets most everything off eBay. His rule is at least 40% off the retail price. We do buy some clearance pieces at a store in Branson when they are available.

Several on Amazon...free shipping with Prime. I don't know if their prices are outrageous or reasonable...but hey, free shipping...

I used to get them at Hallmark when they were 75% off but they don't seem to carry them anymore. We have The Christmas Palace here where I can get them. I also just got three pieces off ebay this year to complete a set this year and they were between 19.00 and 24.00 with free shipping! I basically stopped buying as I too have run out of room but I decided to set up the big display this year and wanted to get the last 3 pieces that spell out North Pole that I had been wanting since I started collecting. Just watch ebay and you may be able to find a good deal!

I just attended an estate sale where they had an entire big table of them all in their boxes. There were big boxes on the floor too. I don't collect them, so I wasn't interested in what they were selling for. I did notice that they were still there on Sunday when the sale ended. If someone had offered them anything for them, they would have accepted it because the estate sales person doesn't get a dime if they don't sell them.
I'm finding better merchandise and better prices at estate sales. There are websites to look up where the closest ones to you are located.

I do some cashiering at estate auctions for friends who own an auction company. We've had these type of collectibles from estates as well as from auctions of retail store inventory (there were tons when he auctioned off the contents of a big Christmas store). They literally go for pennies on the dollar at the auctions.
