dd has an iPhone that had issues that she replaced. She couldn't have saved her photo's to the cloud and therein lies her issue. She left the phone in a drawer for awhile and then couldn't remember the password. She brought it someplace to get it fixed and somehow they ended up with the phone permanently locked because they used too many tries or something.
She was mentioning it the other night...and it's gotten me thinking. Is it possible for someone or apple to unlock it now? I'm sure if they needed proof that she owns the phone she could come up with that. Not sure if it can be opened though without losing the photos, which is the only reason she cares to unlock it.

my husband brought our son's phone to apple to fix, even though the phone is on my husband's account, and it obviously needed repairs, they wouldn't access it without my husband knowing the password.

I haven't, but I have one that will be locked if we can't remember a passcode within the next try or two.

The apple store unlocked my son's ipod touch. He was with me and the device was a trade from the apple store so they may have had some kind of electronic documentation that it was his. They unlocked it for free.
