Just a little tip - if your loving husband has cut up a hot pepper from the garden (and also used the kitchen scissors to trim all the plants in said garden) do NOT come remotely close to anything he used. You will not realize you have touched anything with hot pepper residue on it until you remove a contact lens at bedtime (no matter how many times you have washed your hands before then). Don't ask me how I know this.

My son accidentally touched his eyes after cutting peppers. I made the mistake of telling him to rinse with water. DO NOT DO THAT!!! LOL...I had to do a very fast google and learned that you should soak paper towels in milk and coat the eyes with the paper towels. The dairy cuts the heat. The water just mixes with the pepper oil and spreads it around.

Oh damn!
Time for dh to have dedicated hot pepper scissors, kept away from other tools.
I hope your eyes are okay now.
Want to hear a horror story? 😀
Decades ago, my (now ex) dh had cut up hot peppers for his sandwich at dinner. Bedtime comes, foreplay ensues, and suddenly inside of me is on fire 🔥. And then I feel the heat all over my lady bits.
And that's why I dumped a gallon of whole milk all over my bits in the bathtub while angry crying.
"Jalapeno lube" was a joke and a threat for years afterwards.

Just going to add... don’t have sex with your DH, wife, gf, bf whoever...after they cut a habanero pepper. In my defense I had no idea

Ouch!!! I have rubbed my eye, too, after touching a hot pepper. So not good. Hope it feels better quick!

I like to cook and a zillion years ago I was having a dinner party that included sauce and I love adding peppers!
My friend (male) offered to prep and he cut everything up for me. It was awesome!
Afterwards, he went to the bathroom, and a (very) short while later he was in agony!!
I've always been really careful about that since!!!

EEP. LavenderLayoutLady and NoWomanNoCry win this contest - or lose it, as the case may be! I was going to fuss that I got some poblano pepper juice in my eye yesterday and how even just that slightly spicy stuff caused great pain. But...I just can't compare!

Okay, this will sound weird, but... It would panic me if I got hot pepper in my eyes. Something about the definition of a medical emergency being at risk of losing life, limb, or eyesight.
