So I just started a very small (under 2 lb) chuck roast in my 6 Qt Instant Pot and now I'm second guessing my self. Of course, dumb me searched the internet for opinions on the IP as a Slow Cooker AFTER I already started my roast. The opinions and reviews are all over the place. Let's just say I am not encouraged that this will end well. Ha. Does anyone have an opinion or good/bad cooking experience to share? I'm getting the sense that IP are excellent pressure cookers, but not-so-great slow cookers! Fortunately, it's really not going to be a problem if this meal is a dud. It's only for my DH and I and we have a long standing joke between us regarding my new recipes and cooking techniques. I tell him what I'm trying to make and warn him it could be a major flop and he responds with "So you're telling me this might me a good night for getting take out pizza?" LOL Please share your experiences or tell me I'll probably need to order take out.

I used the IP for beef short ribs. Not good. Sorry, I hope your turns out.
ETA: It was edible but didn’t have much flavor and it look much longer.

It's worked fine for me, though I haven't tried a roast yet. Make sure it's adjusted to "less" on the settings.

This is exactly what it should NOT be set to for slow cooking...the "less" on the Instant Pot pressure cookers is like "warm" on a slow cooker. Instant Pot does make a slow cooker which is actually a multi-cooker, the Aura and the Aura Pro. I've only used the slow cook function on that one, not on the pressure cooker.

Medium setting on my Instant Pot is low slow-cooker and less is just warm. I made that mistake the first time I used it as a slow-cooker.

I love my IP as a slow cooker. I do all roasts for 5 hours on high and they are all beautiful. I don’t add any water. Just brown them then slow cook. These were the instructions on my old traditional slow cooker and I just do the same, no problem.

Oh man, I just got rid of my slow cooker thinking my IP would be great. I pray it works. I haven't tried my roasts yet.
