I started scrapping in 2005. I remember going into michaels and I ventured over into the scrap section...thought hmm this is interesting and bought some stuff. I will never forget this random woman who was a major scrapper said "you will get hook and you will be back for more bet me" I laughed and said no way...less than two weeks later I was back again to get a XXL rolling cart for all my stuff I had bought within that week!!! I kid you not that same lady was there that night to...ran into her and we talked and she was like "see told ya!"
Started cardmaking and minis a little more then a year ago...and really started getting into altering things the past year.
I scrap just my DH and I. We don't really get to do a lot of fun stuff right now so it's hard for me to have topics to scrap...maybe that's why I been making cards more these days lol

Hi, I'm Jill. I have been scrapping for 10 years. I have 2 kids, ds11, dd9. I work part time from home and I do a lot of volunteer work in my community. We live in New Hampshire. I learned the basics of scrapbooking at a neighborhood CM party and then realized that lots of people I knew scrapbooked, most of my playgroup. We started going to crops at our LSS and each other's houses and attending a retreat in the Fall. Sadly, as our kids started school, interest slacked off. Some of us still go to our retreat in the Fall. Our LSS stopped holding crops several years ago. I am the only one who scraps regularly. This is the point where I became an active member of TwoPeas! A couple of years ago, I met a wonderful CM rep and discovered another group of ladies to play with and go to occasional crops with them, even though I only use CM for albums. Just my luck huh? Fortunately, she has gone with the flow and is now part of the Heritage Makers team and still hosting crops. Anyway, I am still trying to replace TwoPeas in my life, here, a couple of other private boards, multiple online stores (I always shopped multiple stores , scrapbook.com for their vast gallery and Youtube for videos....I really miss having everything in one place!! I am currently attacking 2011-2013 with vigor!! I have all my photos printed and have my work cut out for me. I scrap events, but prefer scrapping the everyday. My favorite pages are ones capturing a memory or funny story or something my kids say. This unfortunately yielded 6 stuffed CM albums for 2010 so I am trying to be more selective as I move forward! Wish me luck!

So interesting to read everyone's stories ! I started scrapping in 2007 - shortly after my dad was diagnosed with brain cancer. My kids were almost 3 and 6 months old. That whole year a worked very little to help with my dad, but really needed something fun to do and scrapbooking gave me that. Towards the end of 2007 it was mostly just retail therapy ! I still love scrapping & am lucky enough to have a few friends I scrap with regularly. I found 2peas sometime in 2008 I think - not much of a poster, but loves the content. I still find so much inspiration online - have to as there are only 2 LSS about 30 min from where I live. I mostly scrap 2 pagers, dabble in digi and love hybrid stuff - supplies here in South Africa are not as plentiful as in the US ? love seeing all the new product but know I will hardly ever get to use it ! Started PL this year - hate the process, but loving my album for the memories it has captured. I scrap events and vacations - love taking photos - so I have lots of pics on my pages. Biggest influence ever - Shimelle - hope to see her back in full swing soon !

I've been scrapping for a few years started with CM and am a very slow scrapper. Chronological has just about driven me nuts and the need to "catch up" so I've been trying to branch out to versions of project life. Also, my DH is working diligently in my scrap room (blessed enough to have one) and I'm hoping the new found space will give the freedom to work a lot more often on my scrapping and card making. I was a regular on two peas though not a major poster - appreciate this board.

I'm Ann, and I've been scrapping since 96/97, I can't remember exactly. I got introduced to it by the lady I cleaned house for in college, she was a CM rep. I was very sporadic for the better part of a decade, and really got back into it when my almost 4yo DD was born. I only discovered 2Peas last year and it totally reinvigorated my love of this hobby! I couldn't believe I hadn't discovered it before then, and was oh so sad when it shut down. I only had it in my life for about a year. I mostly scrap my 2 kids, I'm way behind, but I'm ok with that. I work full time and don't have a lot of time or a dedicated space. I will whine about my lack of dedicated space a LOT. Lol. My favorite line right now is OA. Cannot get enough of the stuff! I also love Echo Park/Carta Bella, anything American Crafts and Studio Calico. I do all 12x12 currently, but have been toying with adding some PL into the mix. I just love this hobby!

Hi! My name is Lynn and I am a scrapbooker. I think I always did scrapbook in one form or another. About the time my DIL was expecting our first grandchild, I stopped into Archiver's to buy a gift card. Holy Cow!!! I was hooked by all the fun stuff. That was 11 years ago.
I make albums for DH and me, each of our two grandchildren, and my parents. It's really an escape for me. I have a very stressful job and DH has been battling cancer for 7+ years. I escape to what I call "my happy place".
I am so happy we have our Refuge. I was really grieving the loss of all my Pea friends.

I started scrapbooking in the 70s! Back then I didn't put pictures in my scrapbooks, just memorabilia, tickets, programs, and weird stuff like a piece of my friend's Pinto, a nail from the set of the school play I worked on, etc. etc. (you know, no real acid-free type stuff!). When I first learned about today's scrapbooking in the late 90s, I was very resistant to it. I remember saying, "That's not scrapbooking, that's a decorated photo album." But once I realized I could combine my love of my photos with the concept of scrapbooking as I knew it, I was hooked! I'll admit I'm a hoarder of beautiful and fun supplies and spend more time shopping and organizing than actually scrapping! But hopefully I'll be retiring soon and will be able to spend more time doing this. I now have 3 granddaughters to scrap, and I've never finished my own kids! I don't expect to ever be "caught up" and I'm okay with that! I love the supplies, the process, and the finished products.

I've been scrapping since 1999. It all started with CM. I have 3 boys and from 1999 on their lives are pretty well documented. In addition to volumes for each year, I have done many albums for gifts. I went from all I had in one small bag, to a large CM bag, to an armoir, to a room for all my stuff. While I don't scrap as much as I used to--the kids are grown and I'm living on my own--playing with paper is still an important creative outlet for me.
I scrap chronologically, rather simply, usually two-page 12x12 spreads. I don't have a particular favorite designer, and rarely use any sketches or anything to follow, although I'll check out galleries occasionally for inspiration. I scrap to preserve the memories, so the details are always there about the many moments in my boys' lives. My boys have really gotten tired of my constant picture-taking and I do worry that they will fight over the scrapbooks--who will get stuck with them! Here's hoping for DILs who scrap, or who at least appreciate all the work.
I'm grateful that the Refupeas exists!

What a fun thread! My pictures have always been "sort of" scrapbooked but I started "real" scrapping in 2005 after my Dad passed and I inherited all his photos. He had lots of amazing vintage family pics from early 1900's and on. I knew I had to get these images preserved and recorded so the info wouldn't be lost forever. I love, love, love this hobby! I enjoy my quiet time spent creating. I used to scrap with my friend but life happens and unfortunately things changed there. But I can never see myself not doing this. It just makes me happy, plain and simple.

I started in early 2006. My intention was a way to present my genealogy research. Remember the days when you could cart your stuff around with a single Rubbermaid small container. My definition of scrapbooking is anything I create using those supplies. I like making ATC's, cards, etc. I have really started making my hobby a priority. Scheduling time, and when I do I love it. I have a great time.

I started scrapping in 1999. I went to a CM party with a friend and was hooked that first night. I did scrap the CM way for probably 2 years or so and then one day while out shopping I noticed an "lss" and that was it!
After catching up on most of my family's photos and my two boys growing older (less photo opportunities) I branched out into card making, scrapbooking for other's, wedding invitations etc. It's been a fun way to make some extra cash and still keep my hand in it.
I now have a 6 month old grandson and am really enjoying getting back into scrapbooking and doing layouts of him!

Fun thread! I was a card maker and stamper before I got into scrapping. Have always had a few hobbies on the go and also knit, quilt, do cross stitch and mosaics.
I started scrapping in about 2000 - just doing vacation photos in 8 1/2 x 11 albums. My mother got into CM to redo all the family albums and I got hooked too, although mine weren't really CM style. Card making was still the main focus for me until last year when my niece was born and I offered to do an album charting her first year. Decided to do it PL style and just love the pocket scrapbooking concept. That first album has also inspired me to start my own PL album which I'm doing on a monthly basis. I've also started doing a few 12x12 layouts which I always found a bit intimidating before (what a difference a sketch can make!) Still card making although not as much as before as I'm really enjoying the scrapping.

I am Renee. I was a stamper and card maker before I was a scrapbooker. I even was a Stampin' Up! demonstrator for about 4-5 years. I started scrapbooking in 1998 when my kids were 3 & 4. They are now 19 & 20. One lives at home and goes to school. The other lives away and goes to school. When they were younger, I used to go to crops 2-4 Fridays a month and go to twice yearly weekend retreats. I also worked at an LSS for awhile. I bought from 2peas for a long time before venturing over to the message boards. Now I have my own room and scrap mostly on my own. I do go to a weekend retreat once a year. I scrap in reverse chronological order. That is I work on the most current stuff and work backwards. If there are holes, I will fill them in at the retreat. I thought I might stop scrapbooking when my youngest graduated HS. I still really like it. My DH & I have been going on some nice trips together and I still so stuff with the kids. I enjoy scrapbooking and started a youtube channel to do layout shares Renee's youtube channel

I started as a cardmaker in about 2003 and vowed I would never scrapbook (they spent too much money and it was a bit overwhelming for me). I attended a monthly Stampin Up group but was a bit bored with making things exactly like how everyone else was making it. I became a single mom and was invited to a scrapbooking night out that had babysitting...who would turn that down? So I went and did the free make and take which happened to be a layout and...I quickly became hooked. The next month, when I went to the Stampin Up group, I was chastised for putting my ribbon on the right, instead of the left ... "be creative on your own time" were her words... so I knew that I was looking for something more. Honestly, scrapbooking saved my sanity as a single mom. My kids would go to bed and I would scrap.
Fast forward however many years later and I now am a co-owner of my own scrap store (we opened almost exactly a year ago) and happy as can be.

Hi I am Dawn and am slowly working my way through my Stash. I started scrapping in 1998 when I was invited to a CM party. I quickly branched out. I do not scrap chronologically but do organize that way. I just scrap what I want when I want and hope my families enjoy what they end up with I like to do many crafts and flit between them! Well, I was going to introduce myself, but this basically covers everything, even my name! ^_^ I have always been a crafter so I don't just scrapbook, I bounce between different crafts, depending on what I feel like doing, and I just scrap what I feel like scrapping when I feel like it. I grew up with my mom always crafting with my sister and I, and we always had a craft at slumber parties and birthdays and whatnots, so it's just kind of a natural evolution that I have a lot of crafts I do. I always say I'm a Jack of All Trades, Master of None!

What a great thread! <hitting the *like* button on everyone's post>
I started scrapping in 1998 when my oldest was 2. I was in Rag Shop (do they even exist anymore?) and came across an aisle called 'Memory Books'. I was intrigued, but too afraid to jump in w/both feet. What if this hobby went the way of Friendly Plastic or painting on sweatshirts? I didn't want to end up w/some photos in books, and then run out of supplies to finish the rest. I started w/just pics from our annual Pool Party. And promptly fell in love. And then the hobby took off and I didn't just jump in - I dove!
I started off keeping my supplies in tote bags and pulling them out to scrap at the dining room table. Then I bought a large folding table. Then I took over the guest room. My husband needed it for a home office, so I'm back to the dining room table, but have a large closet that I took over and all my supplies are living happily in there (but needing more room, so I'm trying to come up w/ways to expand).
I'm a chrono scrapper and am currently wrapping up 2003. Yup. Eleven years behind.
I have approximately 30 scrapbooks filled.
I have fallen away from the hobby a few times over the years, but have recently reconnected w/an old pal and we're scrapping 2-3 days a week. This gives me no incentive to get back in to the workforce, lol. She also has access to her brother's lovely beach house, so we try to get away for a scrappy weekend every other month or so. It is heavenly.
I almost solely scraplift and have a huge stash of sketches that I refer to.
I scrapped 8.5x11 in the beginning, but have switched over to 12x12 w/my photos from 2004 onward.
I recently began making cards. I don't find it as rewarding as scrapping, but am keeping at it.
I keep trying to become a Frozen Pea, but just can't seem to get there.
A few years ago I added Project Life to our world. I try to take a photo a day, but don't always manage it.
I don't see myself ever giving up scrapping - I just love everything about it too much!

I also started around 95/96 with CM but quickly realized that I was a square peg trying to fit in a round hole. I don't do annual family albums, I don't scrap chronologically though they do end up stored that way, I was thrilled to find Stacy Julien and then Shimelle, who both have influenced my scrapping greatly. I scrap for me, I will never be caught up and I'm fine with that. I love the process, the creating, the journalling a story that the photos don't tell. Scrapping has made me very reflective and observant. Our sons are 28 and 26, I still like to go back and scrap pictures of them as children with new stories.
So thankful for this obsession.

That sounds like fun! My sister is a huge crocheter, she's currently on a blanket kick. I had to stop a few years ago because of my carpal tunnel, but my mom taught us both. My mom and I are currently doing an Art Journal challenge where we give both of us the same item (the first one was mini buttons, the second was a couple of bee cuttings I did on my Silhouette when I first got it a couple years ago and never used), then we both incorporate them into our pages. I'm TERRIBLE at art so it's definitely a challenge, but it's a lot of fun!

Okay, I will take a turn!
I'm Charlotte, and I started scrapbooking in 1997 right after my son was born and my husband suggested I head over to Micheal's to get out because I was having a bit of the blues. In one of the isles I found one of those lovely Frances Meyer kits for baby boy a d thought hey, that's a great idea! It was all downhill from there! My husband found a LSS for me (I'm sure he regrets that now!) And from there it just spiraled!
We no longer have a LSS to shop and crop at and I don't like shopping online. Thank god we have an online store in town that let's us go in and shop! And I also make periodic trips to Phoenix to shop at their stores up there. I crop once a moth with friends. I love taking pictures of my 3 kids, I have a nice canon DSLR that I'm teaching myself to shoot in manual setting.
Now that my kids are older (17, 12,& 10) it gives me great joy to see them flip thru our albums and laugh and talk and reminisce over them!
I have a supportive husband who encourages my hobby, and doesn't question why I need more paper when I have tons of it at home! (Though he may lift an eyebrow now and then!)
Now with 3 kids amd limited time to scrap, I've become an excellent scraplifter! I can often be heard saying, I ain't got time to reinvent the wheel! Lol! Now don't get me wrong, I love creating my own stuff but sometimes I like to take some of the thinking out of it and put it on automatic pilot!!

Hello, my name is Pat and I have been scrapping since I was in HS, way back before we were concerned about acid free - those books are put together with tape and rubber cement! Mostly those are momentos and if they fall out I put them back safely. Married for 30+ years, and we have 2 children, one about to be married, the other in law school, both living on their own.
I really got into scrapping in about 1998 at a CM party, a good friend at the time would have us over from time to time and scrap. lost touch with her, and found a great group of ladies at a store that I would go scrap with, but that store just closed. Now am on my own. dd also scraps (got her hooked) and I wish she lived closer.
I have been trying to finish an album on a trip I took to Australia 5 years ago since shortly after I got home....I need to dedicate time to scrap or I never will.

Hi, I'm Terri. I've been scrapping since the 90's and was introduced to it at a CM party. I was hooked the minute I saw it. I am married to my sweetheart and we have 6 dogs, no kids.
I am a very slow scrapper because I love diving into the process. I'm not concerned about what happens to my albums after I'm gone. I am blessed to have a scraproom that recently underwent a renovation. Now I can't seem to stay out of there. I have organized a few large crops, but now prefer going to a cabin a couple of times a year with my group of 4. I joined 2 Peas in 2001 and went to the site everyday. I'm so thankful we have this board! I am really excited about the possibility of a gallery for us here.
