I haven't made a blanket for a while, this one is tempting me a lot. I don't think I'd do that border though, it's a little fussy for my taste.

This is beautiful! Someday I would love to attempt something like this, but being VERY VERY new to crochet, I don't think that this is possible for me atm. I looked at the details, and I was lost just from that, much less trying to figure out the pattern when it is available.

We would all be available to help here and there is a CAL group for this project at Ravelry. Since it is crocheted in squares, it would be a great project to learn new skills!

Since my rainbow crochet cardigan is at the tedious stage, I wanted an easy project I could finish in a couple of days to take a break with. Several years ago I had made a crocheted "cuffed shawl" out of that super-snuggly Lion brand Homespun yarn and had intended to make a wide cowl out of the leftover yarn to wear with it, but never did. So I dug out the yarn and have been working on that yesterday and today. I'll finish it in a little bit.
I need to power through the rainbow cardigan this month. It's got about 6" of length left to go, but is so big around at the bottom edge now that a round takes a couple of days of casual work to complete. I need to focus because I have my next big project ready to go.
I had a bunch of Lion brand Amazing yarn (fuzzy self striping wool blend worsted weight yarn, kind of rustic looking) in a green colorway that I decided to make a crocheted cardigan out of. One of those things that are essentially a rectangle with sleeves, and the side panels hang down in points on the sides. I wanted the center of the back, between the shoulders, to be a big mandala or medallion and then the body of the cardigan goes from there in a simple stitch pattern. I couldn't find a pattern for the medallion I liked so I just winged it, and was really surprised at how well the design came out. I'm going to block it and put it away until the rainbow cardigan is finished.
I can't wear any of this until late October, so plenty of time... It's ironic. I have so much handmade yarny stuff to wear but live in the Houston area. I only get to enjoy it about 4 months out of the year. Oh well...

That Rozeta one is lovely too but there is one that I keep going back to. I’ll see if I can link to it. I need to make another blanket like I need a hole in the head. tyra you will be so surprised at just how much you can achieve if you jump in! All those lovely little squares would be great to learn new patterns.

I am on the “notify me” list for the kit in “Dawn.”

So gorgeous gillyp. elaine, how much did shipping to the US cost you on that yarn pack? I'm still sitting here trying to justify it in my mind...lol...like maybe I can give it my MIL for Christmas and then poof! it's a gift, not an indulgence. Haha. tracyarts I cannot wait to see it.

I need to stay away from this thread - haha! I promised myself that I would not start another project until I finished the one I have and I am going to stick to that but it is a BIG project and I'm tempted to stray - especially when I see the CALs posted here

One finished baby blanket, hurrah! Oh Jenny, that is just beautiful... However long did it take you? I'm always in awe of blankets because I get bored with doing the same thing quite easily, and hefting heavy half-to-almost-finished blanket every row to turn it switches me off. If it wasn't for that, I would be Attic 24's biggest customer. Oh, that and the fact that we don't use blankets...

It would be very fun to do one a day! We would all be on the edge of our seats waiting for that day's pic of your great crafts. It doesn't have to be all or nothing. I love your stuff. Awe you are so sweet!! I think part of it is that I’m frustrated at the lack of quality pictures (I’m a retired photographer & my phone camera sucks), but your comment touches me so much that I’m going to try & do just that! I don’t even remember how long it’s been so sorry if there are duplicates. I’ll start off with one I really love - here is this year’s Reserve Grand Champion of the handiwork department at our county fair. Lost in Time made with a Hobbii Twirl in Ocean Jasper (01). And have I been here since I learned to knit??! This is one of the first hats I made, and I’m absolutely enchanted with how the yarn worked up. Made with an ILTY Prints. Now I think I have to try them all lol. My jaw just dropped at that shawl. LOVE! Well both of them actually. Congratulations on mastering yet another craft.

flute4peace Wait. Did you say you only just started knitting? And you made that, with no mistakes and it looks perfectly beautifully gorgeous? Yes, I learned in April & made this in May/June. I was fortunate in that I was able to notice mistakes as I went along & only had to rip out a large number of rows once. (I have a really good teacher/mentor). Trust me, there are plenty of wonky and frogged dishcloths too lol. I’ve been mostly making smaller projects now - hats etc. - but have several shawls in my future plans.

Beautiful shawl flute4peace. I just can't make knitting work for me. I've been crocheting like 20 years now, but can't seem to handle knitting. I tried both. Crochet won. tyra good for you! We are a terrible bunch of enablers aren't we? I'm off to order the yarn pack myself. I will go with the Wild Hedgerow color scheme.

But I finally found the right person to teach me. Turns out I need to hold the yarn a specific way or my brain can’t do it. Once we got that figured out it was much easier. I do still have a long way to go, just because it’s so much more complicated, but I can make advanced beginner level patterns. (Depending on my brain status for the day - some days I don’t even try).
