I'm so sorry people are having problems with the Cherry Heart CAL And I'm in the Facebook group so I will be able to benefit from others experiences as they do it. I still plan to make it. It's really a fabulous blanket. I'm so glad you posted it. I’ve learnt a lot from CALs where more experienced crocheters have talked about stitches or helped people who were stuck. You are right that you will benefit from the ones that get going earlier.

I'm so sorry people are having problems with the Cherry Heart CAL I'm really alright with it. I never seem to be able to keep up with a CAL in the first place so it's no skin off my nose to wait a few months until I can buy the right colors. What's nice is that I will still get the bonus squares so I can make it at a future date. And I'm in the Facebook group so I will be able to benefit from others experiences as they do it. I still plan to make it. It's really a fabulous blanket. I'm so glad you posted it. I’m happy to post pictures as I go along if you are interested, but otherwise won’t bore the group until it is done.

It wouldn't bore me to see your work in progress - I don't do a lot of crocheting but do enjoy seeing what other people are making.

Haven`t made a card for ages so`did this one for my Cousins upcoming 60th Birthday. She is mad about Bunnies so this fabric is ideal for her gift box as well. The easel card has a removable quilted and embroidered pin cushion as centerpiece. Now I just have to chose a present for the woman who has everything, including 6 Rabbits.

phoenixcov I love the bunny fabric. It's so pretty, very vintage looking. Would be perfect in a nursery.

Thanks for that! The Indigo baby yarn is calling my name. I want to make a lap blanket for church (we have a draught straight from Siberia in the choir pew and even with all the heating on, my hands get stiff with cold during the sermon) and have been looking for something in the same blue as we have in church. It doesn't say whether it's DK or aran weight though. I wonder how big a blanket I can make with 400g?

If you click on the picture look closely, you’ll see that it is a Super Bulky Chenille. The good news is that it would be very quick to crochet or knit a lap blanket and it will be very soft and warm.

I'm not a fan of working with Super Bulky yarns. I have a knack for dropping stitches. But chenille feels so nice...

Those that are doing the CAL- did you see the Heart Swatch (test block) has been posted? I have the directions printed out, but won't get to play until tomorrow evening unfortunately. It is touted as being beginner/intermediate skill level, we will see! LOL I am going to try to translate the pattern today though, into US terms so I am not confusing myself even more.
There are a few ladies that have already whipped up the test block, I am impressed with their speed and skill!

BTW! (CAL related) For those that are visual learners, there is a video on the whole practice square listed on today's download. It is on page 2, the second video (part 2). I really like the chart, much easier for me to understand rather than the written our pattern lol

Since I don’t have any of the Scheepjes yarn yet, I won’t get an accurate sense of gauge, but it will help becoming familiar with her style.

*sigh* I'm more jealous than I thought I would be of the CAL starting. My green eyes are glowing today. LOL! I'm debating going and buying some yarn, just so I can do it right along with you guys. Debating...debating...
ETA: what would you think of the Stylecraft Batik as a substitution? You can see all the colors at Wool Warehouse.
EATA: I think I'm ordering Stylecraft DK. I've got Pale Rose, Parma Violet, Silver, Grape, Storm Blue, Duck Egg, and Powder Pink in my basket just waiting for me to pull the trigger.

Since one of the packs is with a different Stylecraft DK-weight yarn, that would be a great substitute. I’m going to crochet up the sample on some leftover attic 24 Stylecraft DK yarn. I think that the Scheepjes Stonewashed is Sport-weight, so a little finer than DK, but I don’t think enough that it will change the look of the blanket significantly.

CAL folks:
Okay, try to follow the charts, if possible. I’ve already found one error in the written directions for Round 1.
i’ll Write out corrections in British crochet terms (so tr instead of USA dc, etc) since that is what she is using.
Round 1 should read: 5ch (counts as 1tr, 2ch), (3tr, 2ch) 3 times, 2tr, sl st into 3rd ch of beginning 5 ch.
She shorted the first round by a chain stitch at the beginning. Each group of 3 dc/tr is separated from the next by TWO chains. So, you are off if you start with only 4ch for the tr/dc + 2ch.
the chart is correct.

In the Ravelry group she states that she does this on purpose. So, my bad. I will make all my corners even, because I don’t have the pulling issue that she does with the first corner.

I'll have to go look it up but why would she do this on purpose? It just doesn't make sense to me. But then again, I'm an accountant so I'm all about even numbers.

I was busy mixing colors today and I'm very happy with my pallette.
