One of the guests at work did her order and mentioned that she works in the liquor industry and if my husband was looking for anything specific to let her know and she could keep an eye out. I gave her a few things to watch for and laughed and said "oh, and pappy of course, like everyone else in the world" We chatted a few and she told me they sell the 10yr for $120 to the lottery winners every year. I joked that I would trade her a bottle for the product she had her eye on and went on about my way. She text before I left to head home and said that she had talked to her husband and he agreed to the trade and could meet me at the gas station. What?!? Totally thought she was kidding and wasn't going to show. Yall. The vibe she wanted was $199 so my cost was $85. He's literally been searching and entering lotteries for over 6 years. Holy moses. I was going to go home and jump on the bed with it but I remembered that his 50th is next month so I hid it and am trying so hard to keep my mouth shut but omgeeeee I'm so excited! Now to figure out a fun way to gift it and find a frame for the wife of the year award I'm about to receive. 😄😄😄

Good Job Steph, she really wanted her new toy. We won some in a Liquor Barn store raffle, as in they passed out tickets to each person. My DH was the second name pulled out and he got to buy a 23 year old Pappy. Our DD claimed it as she had organized this outing. By the end of the morning, we had 4 bottles 10, 12 15 and the 23. It was intense!!! None of the bottles have been opened and it's been 3 years Veteran's Day.

I’m not a bourbon drinker but my DH is, so I know all about the quest for Pappy by association!! Lol That is so cool! I’d never be able to keep it a secret, so good luck with that!

Nice!!!! Pappy is so good. I wouldn’t say it lives up to the hype - because nothing could - but it’s great.

They're always packed! She thinks she can get me a 15 or 25, fingers crossed. She still has a wishlist! Ha

@peasedtobehere the struggle is intense. I almost told him 4 times today. busy I cant imagine it's even possible. I'm curious to see if he keeps it sealed or if he enjoys it. If I give it to him at his party I would bet he will open and share with my family. I can't wait, 5 weeks!

The 15-year bottle is the sweet spot in my opinion. Better than the 20 or the 23.
Way to go on your score! We open a bottle every year for the "office Christmas party." It's a sacred tradition. Lol.

And hopefully in another month’s time he will be even more recovered from his mystery illness so he can be sure to taste and fully enjoy this!

And I’m terrible at keeping secrets. I’d totally spill the beans way before the party.

That's great and I'm sure your hubby will love it! I'm one of the few who don't buy into the hype of it, but part of the mystique is because it is so hard to get your hands on. There are definitely better ones out there. But, just having Pappy in your liquor cabinet is a nice score and you got it for a steal! His reaction will be a memorable one!

Now to figure out a fun way to gift it and find a frame for the wife of the year award I'm about to receive. I would wrap it in a tartan scarf or something else that is "Scottish". Or put a tartan tie around the generic box that will hold said bottle.

My husband’s 50th is next month. His party is bourbon themed and he is popping open so many high quality bottles. He doesn’t have Pappy in his collection, however. We are in the Cincinnati area he puts his name in on raffles all around here and Northern KY. No luck. :-( It would be an incredible 50th gift, for sure! Lucky you!

With it so difficult to obtain, will your husband drink it or save it for the novelty and show it off to his friends to make them jealous. lol
