I think most LA & Orange County schools are in session today. At least, they used to be when my kids were in school.

When I lived there, school was always in session on Columbus Day. In fact, the only way I knew it was Columbus Day was because there was no mail.

And people are working? We may be in luck! It's our last day and we still have Tower of Terror, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder, and Haunted Mansion to do. Plus Fantasmic. We did Anna and Elsa, Radiator Springs Racers and a World of Color yesterday.

Pretty sure most schools in the area are in session today. I always forget about Columbus Day until my mom calls asking what the kids are doing (her husband is a banker, it's the one day of the year that he has off but the kids don't!). The crowds will probably be really light this week too because last week was Fall Break for a lot of the local schools.

We were there on Columbus Day a couple of years ago (not realizing in was CD) and couldn't figure out why it was summertime crowded. Good luck.

That was a complete mistake! I did intend it to be a happy face. I'm part Native American, and fully support changing the name of the holiday.
