In your home, if you don't have a room that is designated as an office, where do you store your home office supplies? We have pens, pencils, kids markers, crayons, paints, folders, binders, extra paper, notebooks, report folders, etc etc etc. You get the point. I have an extra two drawer filing cabinet and they are in there now, but I am wondering if this is the right place or maybe I should find something else. We are short on closet space in this house. Only one very small closet and one coat closet on the main floor.
I don't want to mix this stuff in with my scrapbooking things either. I have those in an armoire type thing.
I am at a loss for reorganizing this stuff and right now it is laying all over the floor in the front room. Days like today I would love a personal organizer to come to my house and help me out. Any furniture suggestions would help too.

We have two big hutches in our living room, with glass doors on top, cupboard doors on the bottom, and three drawers each between the top and bottom. I keep notebooks and the kids' art supplies in the bottom cupboards. The drawers have crayons, pencil sharpeners, clips, staplers, glue, pens, pencils, markers, etc, all organized by type.
In our old house I had baskets with jars inside for pens, etc, in an open shelf in our kitchen. I also bought cardboard boxes from IKEA to hold packages of paper, and stored these on the shelf, too. That way everything was accessible but out of sight.

I've stored them in a closet, in a cupboard, in an armoire... They are messy and not something that I want to keep out, so I try to hide them behind closed doors. When the kids were young, I kept them high where they couldn't reach them unless they had permission. As they got older, I made more things accessible. First the crayons and paper, then markers, then play dough. Keep the glitter up at all times. It's a mess to clean up (ask me how I know!)

lol - we already had the great glitter mess of 2011. I am still finding it in small places. It was out because I had been sorting old stamping things (like for embossing) and my curious toddler found it. Sprinkle Sprinkle everywhere!

I used to have a book case with wicker baskets on the shelves to hold that sort of stuff along with some cute little knickknacks I liked. This was before the ikea expedite craze with the canvas bins but the concept was similar. The basket/bins keep the clutter out of sight like a drawer. But it is still handy and looks like furniture instead of industrial office.

As we have a large kitchen where we can easily eat and entertain we use our dining room as an office so all that sort of thing is in there. I'm not sure what we'd do otherwise...we have a lot of office supplies as Dh is self employed.

my kids' closet has two upper shelves that they can't reach. I use it for school supplies and it's where I store my extra TP and paper towels. I have my own office/room too, but it's full of other stuff!

My kids are older so we have less of that stuff around (but we moved to this house when youngest was in kindergarten so I feel your pain). We have a built in bookcase/cabinet that has 6 drawers and two cupboards that hold all this stuff. Each kid has a drawer for their school stuff (paperwork, anything we want to keep, miscellaneous junk I don't want to sitting on the counter) and I have one drawer for my own school stuff (when I was going to college). The bottom two drawers hold all the crayons, markers, paper, pencils, pens, rulers... stuff. FWIW that's only for kids stuff, I have an in-home office in my kitchen where I keep my own "junk."

My office is a loft area, so no door. I did something like this for my pens and pencils above my desk: I have a pretty dresser where I keep printer paper, folders, binders, etc. I also have a little 4 square Expedit with cubes that I put art supplies and random crap in that is hidden away from view.

What about an Iris cart with multiple drawers. It would have wheels and you could put small boxes or plastic organizers inside of the drawers.
I use Iris carts within our closets. I have a couple in my closet for underwear, my workout clothing and then one for various socks.

I just have a small bookshelf for extra papers and binders. There are baskets in it for extra pens and office supplies.
But we keep the craft stuff in other places, usually in their rooms. But my kids are a little older than yours, I think.

I have pantry cabinets in my family room for kid craft stuff and office supplies and games. Cheap-ish ones from Walmart with the double doors and several shelves inside
When Annabelle was small, I put cabinet slide locks (http://www.ssww.com/product/?sku=EL1084&cm_mmc=Data%20Feeds-_-GooglePLA-_-NCR-_-EL1084&cid=2499&aid=GOG&adpos=1o8&creative=51872782575&device=c&matchtype=&network=g&gclid=CJabn96Fq8ECFcRzMgoddAUAKw) to keep her out

We bought a credenza from corporate office surplus store to house both home files and all the school supplies/kids crafts when the kids were little. It fit in our dining room and the top doubled as a buffet area.
Now I keep most of the extra supplies in a couple of baskets in an Expedit bookcase in the bonus room where the kids do their homework.
ETA we do have an office that DH & I share, but the extra office supplies are not kept there.

the top of half my dining room table opens up to reveal a hidden desk area and I keep my laptop, envelopes, greeting cards, stamps, pens, tape, address labels, note cards, cords for all my devices, etc. in there. They're handy but hidden out of sight.
