When I saw your thread title, I immediately thought of the other pea who had mice in her car and had a devil of a time getting rid of them. I couldn't remember who it was, but as others said, I do think it was Tande.
I hope you can find your mouse and get it out of there...how in the world does a mouse manage to do that and why would they want to? Yikes!!

It was Tande's mousemobile. She finally got a new car and if memory serves me correctly, she got rid of the husband, too.

A co worker ( who does drive a Toyota ) saw a mouse in her car on the way to work. She immediately pulled into a parking lot and called her hubby. I don’t know exactly what happened after that, but I’ve been concerned about it happening to me ever since

I live on a farm so yeah we've done this lol. If its getting into the cabin area of the car just put a trap with peanut butter on it in the floorboard, put some newspapers under it if you want just in case..
If its getting up in the motor it can be more tricky, but you can put traps under the car(unless you have cats or dogs outdoors heck even wildlife could get into it, that's why it gets tricky) but you may have enough room to set a trap under the hood but you have to remember to check it/move it before you start the car as you don't want it to fall into the fan or interfere with a belt etc..Can also put some poison on top of the motor under the hood but, not everyone likes using poison and there's still risk of it winding up on the ground where a cat or such could eat it instead..
My daughter had a rat get up in her motor years ago, and the ac fan killed it, it was the horrible odor that got noticed. We took it to our mechanic and he got it out and cleaned it etc to kill the smell, bless his heart..

I think she disappeared from the boards around the time she got rid of him. Is anyone in touch with her on Facebook, etc? Let her know she is missed, please!

We’ve had rabbits eat the brake or fuel lines of 3 cars in our cul de sac and at least 2 of the cars in the cul de sac next to ours in the past year. They are expensive m*ther f*ck*rs. My husband’s was one of them. He ended up buying a new car rather than spending $1k+ trying to fix the damage they had done to his wiring.

We deal with mice in trucks, tractors, combines, etc.. it is a never ending battle. We have to put out lots of poison, but that is a double edged sword, because we want kitties on our farm. The machine shed isn't right at the main farm site, so no problem, but when we move equipment over for harvest we make sure we pull any poison out first. They really make a mess and very expensive repairs! Ugh, the thought of a mouse running up my leg while driving is freaking me out. I have had a mouse run up my shoe - but that is far as the little b@$t@rd got, before I shook him loose. I bailed out of that truck like it was on fire! LOL I've also had a snake in the cab. That took a while to get over. I am usually in a state of hyper-awareness for these critters, until I've been at it for a few days. Then, when I am in a big lunch induced stupor, they sneak up on me! Snakes eat mice. So if you have mice in your vehicles it isn’t a surprise the snakes follow them in. Farms where I grew up usually encourages barn snakes in the summer to keep the mice/rats at bay. Non poisonous garden snakes.

I had a mouse chew through a box of Kleenex and my vehicle registration; he got in through the cabin air filter.
I took it out, stuffed in a couple of cotton balls saturated with peppermint oil, and the mouse problem was resolved.
Of course, I have a 17-year-old cat who is an incredible mouser, too. She was out exploring and brought me a mouse!

Non poisonous garden snakes. Ok..are you talking to my DH? LOL That is the EXACT thing he said to me, regarding the snake! LOL Snakes are a normal occurrence. I usually just let them go about their business. I just draw the line at them in my house or in my vehicle. I mostly have garter snakes around my yard, but at the farm we have big bull snakes, and we (my husband ) want them for rodent control. Holy Moses, some of them get HUGE! There are no venomous snakes in our area, just nope ropes and danger noodles. LOL

All I can think of is a thread from years ago where someone was driving a mouse mobile. She had a heck of a time getting rid of the mice. Anyone remember that? Who was it? We found out we had a mouse because my dd's car alarm kept going off in the middle of the night. When dh investigated, he found "evidence." He also checked my car and sure enough! Anyone remember the mouse mobile? That was Tande. Actually it was a funny story. Someone told her to put Irish Spring soap in her car and the mice would leave. She posted a picture of mouse pellets on the soap. LOL

In the spring when we would go to open up, it would usually have tiny teeth marks in it where the mice gnawed on it, ugh. That is, if there was any left after they ate it. Needless to say, it doesn’t work to repel them and neither does the dryer sheets thing. DH insists on putting those stinky things all over in our beds, upholstered furniture, etc. at the hunting cabin, and there is still evidence that they have been all up in the beds and anywhere else where the stupid dryer sheets were. The only things that actually work are traps and poison.

Last winter my in-laws (86 & 89) had a mouse in their car. Instead of talking to us about it, my MIL took it into the dealership and a sleazy salesman talked her into buying a new car! We were furious! (My MIL was delighted!) Her car was only 3 years old. What kind of jerk sells a new car to a couple that age who both walk into the dealership on walkers!?
My BIL called and gave him a piece of his mind.
Hope you can get your rodent issue resolved in a less dramatic manner.

OH my goodness! I don't want it to die IN my car. I hadn't really thought that far ahead. UGG Remember he is probably not an IT! He probably has friends! Won't hurt to try the Bounce drier sheets. I am a mouse fan. I couldn't kill one. Not when they invade MY space!

I couldn't kill one. Not when they invade MY space! We so infrequently have "visitors" in our house. I can't think of the last spider I have seen indoors. I just put anything that doesn't belong in the house outside when possible. Technically I don't think the mice realize the rules of who owns a space. I am clearly in the minority here, I can see that.

Is the car a Toyota? We had friends leave their car at our house when they were out of the country for a few weeks because ALL the Toyotas parked outside in their neighborhood were being nibbled by mice! It has to do with their soy coated wiring. Rodents Can't Get Enough of Toyota's Soy Coated WiringWe had the neighborhood rabbits eat the brake wiring of my husband’s Prius earlier this year. Then they ate our next-door neighbor’s Toyota Venza. And then the wiring on a friend’s Highlander who lives one street over.

We had mice nest in our car and the smell was awful. We were never able to clear it completely. I was so happy to sell that car to Carmax. Where do they nest? We had a pretty bad smell in the car that took us a long time to get rid of.

I have been fighting them since last winter in my van. We’ve taken anything even resembling food out and still they get in.
I was googling this today, since I found poop in the van last night, and saw two things recommended that might work. One is to put steel wool along any openings into the vehicle, like where the wires come in. Apparently you just fit the steel wool in the openings as tightly as you can. It’s not that they can’t push it out, it’s supposedly that they don’t like to touch it.
The other idea was to raise the hood, if they’re in the engine, I guess. Supposedly this will take away that cozy home feeling that makes them want to nest there.
I’d do traps, but I don’t go out every day and I don’t want the smell. I won’t do poison, just don’t want to kill the upline predators. I have a hawk that lives in the back of the property and several owls that live close enough I can heat them. Losing one of either would result in more mice living than a box of poison could ever kill.

I tried the soap trick, the soap kept disappearing... turns out mice like soap (Irish Spring and Ivory). I ended up smashing garlic and leaving it everywhere and they haven't been back.
