Can someone tell me what the hype is about these sandwiches? Has anyone here tried one? Is it really that good?

They were such a hit here that they ran out and haven't had them for a couple of weeks. I think it was just the hype of whose sandwich was better, theirs or Chick Fil A's. Been a lot of competition here lately. I know Chick Fil A just put Mac and Cheese and potato chips in a bag on their sides menu.

I hadn't had Popeyes in years, but they recently opened one near me.
I had the chicken sandwich when they first came out and I thought it was really pretty good. I thought it was better than Chick Fil A because I find CFA to be too salty. The breading on Popeyes was nice and light, not too heavy.
I was surprised Popeyes didn't sell chicken sandwiches already so the hype confused me, lol. If I had to choose, I'd pick Popeyes.

Yes, CFA is too salty for my taste. I hope Popeyes brings the sandwiches back. I want to try one.

I've never eaten at either place - not much of a fast food eater. Why didn't KFC join the competition though?

From what I understand, the ability to buy a Popeye's sandwich on Sunday is part of the allure, as CFA is closed.

Did you see Popeyes came out and said customers could bring their own bun, order some tenders and make their own chicken sandwich?

I wonder if Popeye's chicken tenders are offered in non-spicy? The chicken sandwich had a spicy/non-spicy option and I don't do heat. I bought the shrimp recently and it was really good in my opinion, but it was way too spicy for me. I know they're known for their Cajun seasoning, but oh I don't like it.

I don’t really care for chicken sandwiches and really don’t like fast food chicken. Like strips or whatever. I ❤️ Popeye’s chicken. I like their fries better too.
They are practically next door to CFA. I have been known to go through both drive ins so my kids and I will all be happy.

My fast-food choices around here are McDonald's and an Arby's that is connected to a gas station, and those are over 20 miles away.

We stopped at one when we took ds to look at colleges. We didn't have one of the sandwiches but not one of us finished our meal. It was the most vile and disgusting meal we have ever had. Mind you, we don't usually eat fast food but we have had Popeye's before and it used to be good. It was completely inedible.
My ds said they recently got bought out by Burger King. That may be why they are so bad. I don't know if it was just that chain but it was bad enough that even my ds, who will eat anything, said he wouldn't ever eat at one again.

Son wanted one shortly after his surgery so we went to Popeye’s. I thought the sandwich was ok as did hubby but we both commented that the effort it took to get the sandwich was just to much.
Per usual the order was wrong THREE times. How hard can it be to put together a chicken sandwich. Much like the other establishment I avoid like the plague (a super store that everyone seems to love) the employees are unfriendly and can’t seem to manage the most basic of tasks.
I’ll stick with CFA...at least they act like they are happy to take my money.

I’ve tried to like Popeye’s, but I’m never impressed with anything I get there except maybe sweet tea. I do love a soft steamy CFA #1.

I was at KFC earlier this week and they do have a new chicken sandwich. Whether it is similar to Popeyes or CFA I don't know. It was a roll (Kings Hawaiian Roll maybe), a juicy and crispy boneless chicken breast, pickles, and mayonnaise. It was the best thing I've had at KFC in a long time!

I've never eaten at either place - not much of a fast food eater. Why didn't KFC join the competition though? Around the same time, they released a Beyond Meat (vegan and veg) “chicken” sandwich, and it sold out and did incredibly well. People who are veg/vegan are talking about it, by mainstream isn’t talking about it as much. I’m a carnivore, ha, but I tend to follow culinary news.

Yes, CFA is too salty for my taste. They brine their chicken in pickle juice. I wonder if that's not why it's too salty for you. Dd and I got xaxby’s when we were on the road in FL. Now that was some good chicken! I heart zaxbys. i was so happy when we got one here. My BIL used to work for them, they're a good company too.

I had one. It was better than chic fil a. If I'm going to eat fast food, it's better than many other options.

Nope,Chick-fil-A has my vote. My kids love their sandwiches and our local Chick-fil-A is great for our community. They donate breakfast once a month to each of our schools for a leadership program and once a month for teacher appreciation. They also support all of our boosters in one way or another. And they treat their customers like they are very appreciated.
My local Popeye's didn't even put a sign up when their sandwiches ran out and videoed peoples reactions because they wanted to go viral. And heaven forbid you ask for extra ketchup. My Popeye's will suck their teeth and roll their eyes because you asked them to put something else in the bag.

We don't have a local Chick Fil A or KFC but we are stuck with two Popeye's. Everything I have ever had at Popeye's has been gross. I have yet to meet anyone in my town that likes the food there. Maybe it's just our two restaurants? No idea. But so far any time I drive by there isn't a drive thru line and there's tons of open parking. I'd be willing to bet it's not hard to get a chicken sandwich here! But will I try? Nope.
