I hate to hear that. I remember when her dad died in a plane crash. RIP Cokie.

I heard that news this morning while I was driving to work... She was an amazing journalist, who could explain anything and make it understandable. Her news and analysis as part of NPR Morning Edition was part of my work commute for years. No one was quite like her.

I think some people thought of her as a lightweight reporter, but I listened to her on NPR often and appreciated her clarity and her ability to pack a lot of information into a modest amount of time on the program, in a way you could get a well rounded picture of an issue. She did her job really well.

I read this sad news this morning. She was one of my favorite reporters. She clearly explained topics so well, that anyone could understand what was going on and how it affected society.

She was amazing, and I'm so sad to see her go. I loved her even-handed reporting and her ability to place current events in an historical context. As they've been saying all day, she truly was one of the "founding mothers" of NPR, and her legacy will live on in the many women she mentored,

This makes me as sad as Ric Ocasek.
Edited because that might seem odd- The Cars in concert and on radio were part of my late teens, early 20s. The same years I was discovering public radio. Its like my youth really is leaving / past. Sorry I'm making this about me - they were both classics.

This makes me sadder than Ric Ocasek. She was inspirational.
Trump needs to shut the $#@( up.
Also - when I read the news this morning, they shared that her given name was Corinne. I had always wondered why people called her Cokie; I didn't think it was her given name at birth. What a sweet story.

I am glad I've been in meetings all day. He is the opposite of a classic and Class.

Between Cokie Roberts and Dorothea Benton Frank passing away recently, I'm not feeling very chipper.

I am glad I've been in meetings all day. He is the opposite of a classic and Class. Here is an excerpt from news coverage: Traveling on Air Force One, Trump said, “I never met her. She never treated me nicely. But I would like to wish her family well. She was a professional, and I respect professionals. I respect you guys a lot, you people a lot. She was a real professional. Never treated me well, but I certainly respect her as a professional.” During the 2016 campaign, Roberts and then-candidate Trump quarreled during an interview on MSNBC over the impact of his rhetoric on immigration and race, asking him if he was “proud of that? Is that something that you’ve done in American social and political discourse that you are proud of?” Trump replied that he thought her question was “very nasty,” claiming that he had not heard of such reports of the incidents Roberts was referring to, which included white children invoking Trump's campaign talk as a way heckle other kids of color.

I really enjoyed her book, The Founding Mothers, about the wives, sisters and mothers of the founding fathers. I read it after I read The Founding Brothers by Joseph Ellis. I recently found both books in my basement and now I think I want to read them both again.
An intelligent, interesting lady. She will be missed.
Oh, and trump is an idiot.
