Anyone watch the premier last night?
I was underwhelmed. It seems to have really strayed from what made it so good the first few seasons. The characters just seem so flat and the gore/sex is just for shock value.

I watched it. It’s just a play on all the horror movies in the 80s that were based on young adults doing these same things. I loved all those movies, so I’m looking forward to this season!

I don’t think I even finished that season, and haven’t watched any since! Do any of the other seasons get back to the level of Murder House and Asylum? If so, I’d like to check them out. |

It’s jut a love of the 80s thing, not really a specific event. I think they’re trying to ride the coat tails of Stranger Things. There is also a horror movie called Summer of 84. It came out in 2018, and I haven’t seen it yet. I want to. I am wondering if it will somehow factor in to this year’s season/theme. I loved all the homages to the older slasher and thriller movies last night. There were so many! Can’t wait to see how they weave them altogether. |

I’m pretty sure the bad acting and the gratuitous sex and gore is because this is a riff on old horror movies. They all have bad acting, nonsensical sex and too much gore. That’s part of what makes them great! 😂. All that blood when the killer chopped off the ear at the beginning? So over the top, and so very 80s. The color was all wrong too. Do you remember in Scream, when the drunk teenagers are watching the old scary movies and one shouts “the blood! It’s too red!” The older movies got the colors wrong. This show also got the color wrong. On purpose. I would like to know how the camp nurse missed noticing that the drifter was missing an ear. That’s a pretty big thing to overlook on someone that you are caring for. It makes me suspicious of her. |

Last season was better but just kind of odd. But it tied some of the other seasons together in a really cool way. Especially once you know who the antagonist is. I hated Cult and Roanoke! Cult had no supernatural aspect to it at all. It was just crazies from both sides during an election. Roanoke had the potential to be so amazing and they ruined it with the docu-shit and two sets of actors. I actually loved Hotel. It’s probably my 2nd favorite season after Murder House. You should try it again, it starts getting better around the middle when they get to everyone’s origin story. |

Okay I'm not going to remember all of the connections, but the main big one is that Michael (the anti-Christ) is actually the twin that survived in Murder House, he was Tate's son from when he raped the Mom in the Rubberman suit. Constance raises him till he murders her when he is a teen. By that time he had already murdered a babysitter and several animals and begun to display powers.
Seriously if you have time watch like the last three episodes. |

I loved it because I was a teen in the 80's. Great soundtrack last night!  And the beginning aerobics - I totally remember doing that, wearing the full body leotard with briefs. I was thoroughly entertained reliving some of the 80's. AHS is a show my 19yo daughter loves so it's also uninterrupted time spent with her (she's not even on her phone while watching!!) |

I spent half of the 80s living overseas so I'm not sure i know which movies these are. I'll have to google. But in general I love horror movies of the kind where people do dumb things and then get themselves killed.... "Hey, I have a great idea! Let's go down in that dark basement where we just heard scary noises, even though it's nighttime now and the power just went off! yay, what a good idea!"   |

I'm a big fan of the 80's slasher movies, so this is just fun for me. It's cheesy and gratuitous and over the top. Like it should be.
I think it might be a little 'stupid' for people who are not familiar with the campiness of slasher flicks.
I'm really looking forward to this!
And Billie Lourd and Emma Roberts together in a slasher series again is cool. I loved both of them in Scream Queens as Chanel and Chanel #3!
