Ran a ticket for a job, 2 windshields on a semi (2 piece). Should have had 2 labors on it and I quoted him with 2 labors on it. I'm not sure why it didn't print correctly because it had a quantity of two.
Didn't catch that it was only one. Husband didn't catch it. he thinks *I* should call the guy and give him a discount if he'll send a check for the balance.
I think that's super embarrassing and he should have caught it when he took the $$

It’s an error on your part and you’ve already received payment for the job. And you had multiple steps where you could have caught the error. It would leave a very sour taste in my mouth if you came back asking for more money. It stinks, but I’d say you need to eat the cost. Hopefully you will have a customer for life and it will pay off in the long run.

I told him he could call if he wants, but that's embarrassing and I'm not doing it.
I look at it as, maybe it was God's way of saying this dude needs a break today. It was a VERY old truck.

I was in a similar situation with a customer and I let it go. Once the customer has paid what you told them the total was, they are done.
I've also been the customer in this situation where I billed for an 'oops' after I'd been told the bill was paid. I paid and took future business elsewhere.

I don't know what an hours worth of labor is, but surely it can't be that much. I say let it go for all the reasons stated above.

Nope, if the customer paid and the mistake wasn't caught I say leave it.

I get that your dh is bummed about the mistake. I would try to figure out why the error happened in the system and see if you can fix the glitch. Then you can tell dh that you are having labour charges for dinner, but that this will be the last time as you have fixed the problem. Also let him know he is in charge of dessert and it better be good to make up for said dinner.

We're not going to call. When this crap happens, I just make it up someplace else.

I made a mistake the other day shipping something amd basically ate my profit. I don’t even bother telling my husband because he gets so upset over trivial things. I learned from my mistake and I’ll make more on something else to fix my mistake.

Wow! That is a hunk of change. I was thinking maybe half that. I'm behind times!

I thought this was about cake. I must be hungry. Btw, I think you need to eat the cost. And get some cake and eat it, too.

Eat it. It sucks, but it happens.

What's done is done. In the interest of continued service and future referrals let it go.

We’re small business owners too and when we find ourselves in that situation we just eat it and learn from the experience so we don’t make that same mistake again. It sucks but making a customer mad sucks more.

I think you're doing the right thing by letting it go. Don't trip over dollars to gather pennies.
Instead offer excellent follow up and work your referrals.

When a Pea Poll has ALL 100 respondents voting for only one choice, you have got to believe that says something. Not one person thinks you should call the customer and we all know how rare unanimous agreement is here at the pod.
