I got the 1st shot today. They said my arm may be sore, but man I didn't expect to not be able to move my arm! I am actually shivering, I am so cold.
Is this what you experienced??
And how bad is the 2nd shot?

I had the first shot 2 1/2 months ago. I had a very sore arm, but that went away quickly and was much better with Advil. I ran a fever for about 24 hours and felt like I had the flu. But it only lasted 24 hours.
I was told it can really be a rough day or two and that the younger you are, the harder it seems to hit. And that the symptoms are more than with the old shingles vaccine. And if you have reacted to other shots, this one can be rough.
I’ve heard mixed reviews about the second shot. I’m due, but chose to wait until we are settled here in Belgium before I get the second shot. I don’t want to deal with flu like symptoms while we are house hunting.

After both shots my arm was very sore for 2 days. I had no reaction from the first shot. After the second I had flu like symptoms for 24 hours. Tylenol helped a lot.

There is no way I won’t get the second shot, but wanted to hear from people who have had it not the pharmacist covering his behind.

After my first dose, my arm was sore but no more than after the DTAP. Fast forward two months to my second dose. My arm was swollen, hot and red. Hurt to even move it. Had chills, fever and a killer headache. I looked up the side effects and, sure enough, typical side effects. I think it was a large percentage had the side effects. Took some Motrin and went to bed. All better in the morning though the arm took a few days to get better.

The first shot I felt like crap and my arm hurt like a bitch. The second one was nothing like the first. A little arm soreness but faded off pretty fast comparatively.

My reaction to both was very similar: very sore arm, red and hot at the injection site, hurt to move, and no sleeping on that side for a couple of nights. But I told myself that my body was really making lots of good antibodies , and I would have great immunity. DH had no reaction to first shot, and mild symptoms with the second. I am so glad we were able to get both shots as we are in the “fragile” group due to our age.

I had the one shot shingle vaccine a few years ago and remember my arm being a little sore. The Shingrix is new and the hubs and I had the first shot yesterday. This morning he asked me if I was as sore as he was. I am. I don't have any other complaints though just a sore arm. It is well worth it not to get shingles. I know several people who have had them and the after effects/pain can last for years

i totally agree
i have had shingles twice, once mild.
the second became Ramsey Hunt Syndrone, where the virus turns inward. i had a ruptured eardrum, palsy on my whole left side.
they caught it day 2 and got me on famvir which i am sure helped
i ended up needing PT to learn to use my left side again. mostly i came back from it. i have reduced strength on my left side but that is all that is left. my smile is lopsided some especially when i am tired.
i never want to go through that again.😀

I am only 45 and plan to get Shingrix as soon as I am able. My chicken pox were HORRIBLE when I was 5. Sick for over a month! I do not want to risk shingles!

I have only had the first shot. My arm was very sore and very red at the injection site and I had chills, fever, headache and body aches for about 24 hours. Maybe a little longer. I felt pretty bad. I am due soon for the second shot. I hope it’s easier but I will suffer through it. I don’t want the shingles!

I tried to get the shot 2 weeks ago. I was told the waiting list was over 300 and people needing the 2nd dose are getting preference.

I got my first shot 2 weeks ago. I had a very sore arm for a few days and the day after the shot I felt like I had a bad achey flu for 24 hours. My doctor warned me that would likely happen. I'll get my 2nd shot in November and the pharmacist told me that I might have a bad headache afterwards. I can take advil and the shot beats the virus.

This sounds awful. I am supposed to get it the flu shot and pneumonia shot. I am going to have to wait for the shingles shot because I am taking a class until Oct. 21 and I can't be ill.

My arm was sore for close to a week, but Advil took care of it. I didn't have other symptoms. I am not due for the 2nd dose yet.
My clinic did not have Shingrix in stock, but CVS pharmacy at Target did.
PSA: Shingrix is not live virus, unlike the previous Shingles vaccine. So, for those of you avoiding the vaccine due to a family member having a compromised immune system, you can get this one. I've been praying I didn't get shingles!

Before the first Shingrix shot, the pharmacist warned it was going to be tough as it's an intramuscular shot and I am under 60 years old. I was able to get it as I've had chickenpox as a kid and got chickenpox twice after that (each time my kids were vaccinated against chickenpox). Supposedly, you only can get chickenpox once but I am an outlier with 3x.
I had a very bad bruise at the injection site for roughly two weeks afterward. At the gym, a nurse friend saw the bruise and its' location and knew right away what it was. I'm assuming this is a common side effect.
Well worth the peace of mind and will definitely get the 2nd followup shot. I will do nearly anything to avoid getting the shingles.

After the first shot, I could not raise my arm at all for several days. I also developed flu like symptoms for about three days and all I wanted to do was sleep. The second shot was not quite as bad as the first one but I still slept quite a bit for two days after.

I got both shots and I only remember having a sore arm. Hopefully you’ll get over this soon whenever it is.
