Every once in a while I get constipated for a few days, get kind of a stomach ache/bloated feeling. I take citrucel for a couple of days and it fixes me right up. The pain/bloating isn't usually that bad. Just annoying.
Yesterday I woke up with a stomach ache and realized I hadn't gone much lately. Throughout the day it got worse and worse and by dinner time I felt like I was in the aftermath of a stomach bug. I skipped dinner and went to bed. Got up long enough to do the outside night time chores and then went back to bed. Sleeping is hard. I ache everywhere and can't get comfortable. I don't feel nauseous or anything. No particularly sharp pains. Just achey. Could all this be from simple constipation? š³
I did take the citrucel and also some milk of magnesia that I bought for something else. Neither has helped yet. š¢
ETA: I've also had a headache the entire time.

Do you have a fever? I find that the older I get š the more a fever makes my body hurt (usually my lower back). I have been fighting off a URI this past week and ran a fever that made me feel way worse than the actual URI.

I don't think I have a fever. I've felt kind of warm and sweaty a couple of times but it didn't feel feverish.

If youāre eating correctly and getting enough fiber I canāt imagine why that would be a problem. It could be time to discuss this with your doctor.

Are you sure you feeling cruddy is related to not pooping enough this time?
It actually sounds like the beginning of getting a virus, to me anyway.
Hope you feel better soon.

Have you ever had a colonoscopy? If not and your over 45 I would say it may be time. I wonāt speculate about what could be wrong but I would say talk to a dr. If there is something and they can catch it early it so much better. I have a ton of GI issues and have btdt a few times. Good luck.

Sounds like the flu to me. Not everyone spikes a fever over a stomach bug, it could be that. n

I'm feeling quite a bit better now. I took 2 more of the citrucel and I think it's finally starting to work. I have not had a colonoscopy-my doctor recommended cologard so that's what I had (last year). I'm still somewhat achy but nothing like before, and my stomach doesn't hurt anymore. I have this weird butterfly feeling that I get when my IBS (mild) flares up. And I still have the headache. I skipped my meloxicam last night (because it bothers my stomach on a good day) so I should be able to take advil for the headache today.
as for my diet, it could be better. I generally don't have too much trouble during the summer because we buy a lot of in-season fruits. I was eating a lot of grapes for a while but haven't been able to get to the store for a week or so. We have other fruit but I don't like it as much so I haven't been eating it. Luckily it's apple season so I'll be hitting the orchards soon.

Hmm, this is how I normally felt for years (opioid-induced constipation; nothing helped--only hurt!), until I wound up in the E.R. this past Spring with pain so intense that I walked to the car on all 4's!! Not to scare you...... but mine was from my gastro history. They kept me for a week, tested me, then tried all of the new Rx's for OIC, and they all didn't work. Finally my gastro hit on Lactulose. It's effective without any of the doubling-over pain I get from everything else! I don't have any of the discomfort anymore, as long as I take it 2x/day, religiously. I really thought mine was a stomach bug. When it got much more intense, I thought I had food poisoning. I'd make an appt with a gastro just to go over everything and make sure you're taking the right OTC meds to help with your particular situation. I hope you feel better!!

TMI backatcha:
I'm not a doctor and I'm not saying you have this, but my mom, 87, recently developed a wicked case of shingles and constipation was her first symptom. She told me that she normally "goes" twice daily and by the time she got her lesions she had not gone in about 6 days. She ended up almost hospitalized when she finally had a bm on day 13. Her blisters covered a huge swatch just above and below her natural waistline on her right side.
Be on the lookout for the little blisters - Google them if you don't know what it looks like. I hope you have something much easier to deal with! ((HUGS))

Go talk to your doctor. IF there is no major issue after the talk, I would suggest light dose of Mira-Lax daily it that is ok with your other issues, cheaper Walmart brand is fine.

How long has this been going on? Months? Days? Years? I ask because some of these answers sound like you caught a bug and it'll go away, but if that's the case, then it wouldn't be going on for a long time.
I'm betting you're eating something that you're intolerant of. My first guess would be milk/cheese. Do you know what your allergies/intolerances are? I love how they can change later on in life. sigh.

I think you should see your doctor. It could be nothing or it could be something super scary.
You could always try a Fleet. I used to have a client who had serious feeding problems. Every 3rd day she had to have a Fleet. It did work very quickly after it was administered.

Iāve noticed over the last year especially changes in how my gut reacts to different foods I didnāt used to have problems with. And if you already have IBS, then it could be getting worse or changing. Iād start keeping detailed food/body journals to see if you can find a pattern.

I'm mildly lactose intolerant so I use lactose free milk and lactaid pills for any other milk products. I didn't eat anything different recently. I have spoken to my doctor about it in the past and so far he's been fine with me just using the citracel when it happens. I've just never had these symptoms with it before. Usually I just get bloated.

Thatās kind of how I felt when I was having a gall bladder attack. The first one, I just felt bloated and sick to my stomach and eventually threw up so I just thought I was sick. The second time it was more like indigestion or heartburn, felt kind of bloated and sick to my stomach and achey to the point where I couldnāt get comfortable no matter what. Then once I started to have the upper center/right quadrant abdominal pain, I knew exactly what it was because my DH had his taken out over 20 years ago. I only had two attacks before getting diagnosed and had the surgery to get it taken out. DH wasnāt diagnosed correctly for over a year and a half and ended up having emergency surgery when it was about to burst.

Try eating Organics oatmeal; it has no added sugar or anything else. Just add boiling water. If you get constipated often, this will help tremendously. Constipation can give you headaches abs severe back pain as well.

You said you have IBS, but you haven't had a colonoscopy. Have you seen a gastroenterologist? You should only be given an IBS diagnosis after a colonoscopy has ruled out Crohns or colitis. One of the things that can happen with either of these is bowel obstruction. You do not want to mess around with that.
Or, as another poster said, it could be gallbladder.
Severe abdominal pain is emergency room worthy. In fact, if you go to urgent care, they will tell you to go to the ER.

The pain was never severe. I've had kidney stones and it wasn't even a fraction of that amount of pain. I was mainly just really achey and my back hurt.
Tonight I felt some weird feelings in my bladder so I'll go have that checked out. It only lasted a few minutes so I don't know if it's anything to worry about. In the meantime I'm drinking a lot of water.

Tonight I felt some weird feelings in my bladder so I'll go have that checked out. It only lasted a few minutes so I don't know if it's anything to worry about. In the meantime I'm drinking a lot of water. Drinking a lot of water should help in a couple of ways. It will help your gut get moving, and relieve your headache. Taking a stool softener draws fluid to the gut and away from your kidneys, so dehydration headaches can happen. I have had four attacks like yours over the past year, attributed to gall stones(2), a kidney infection(1), and partial bowel obstruction(1). I have never been diagnosed with IBS but stress is definitely a factor in my flare ups. My bowel gets more than irritated. It gets downright angry! just coming out of a session myself. Going to ask the doctor for a GI consult. Probably a colonoscopy in my future but I need to figure out how to live with this. Hoping you can find a solution too.

Iāll ask my not so DH what is wrong with you. He has an invisible medical degree he got online that he uses to diagnose me.
So far I have multiple personalities & am bi polar & he is leaning towards schizophrenia next. Mind you that none of my multiple neurologist have given me a diagnosis like any of these but he has!!
