I finally bought a three tiered tray. Well now that I have it, I can't figure out how to decorate it. I wish I had the talent to combine items to create the look that I've been admiring. What skill or talent do you wish you had?

I wish I could sing - like actually carry a tune with a nice singing voice. Doesn’t even have to be a spectacular talent, just not the tone-deaf rotten voice that I have.

But now that I have it, I'm sitting here wondering what I have to help put the look together. I have tons of decorative items, but just getting started has stumped me. I'm the same way when it comes to making a card and that's why I have so many unused scrap supplies.  |

Those pictures you admire started out not looking like they do. You will need to tweak and rearrange, remove things, add other things. It's a process. Just start by putting stuff on. Then you can start rearranging. It may take a while until you get it how you want it. You have nothing to lose. You have the stuff, just start, that's half the battle. |

Really any marketable skill outside of music education. (I can sing, but that and $5 will get you a PSL.)

I remember similar threads like this from years past and it seems like quite a few said singing but mine would be drawing. I can’t even draw a straight line. I am envious of people that can just sit down and whip out a picture that looks very realistic in a matter of minutes.

Painting. But, even if I could paint well - I would need a new house to accomplish this. I picture a room with floor to ceiling windows with a gorgeous view. You know, to bring me inspiration.

Play the violin. I love how it sounds and how powerful it can be. Musically I'm not gifted, just okay, barely passable.
I wish I could do true art-draw, paint etc. I can do photography and I can scrapbook. I'm crafty. But I'm not an artist. I can't draw to save my life. I wish I'd taken a ton more art classes when I had the chance.
Techy stuff. I'm allergic to anything having to do with tech stuff.

(I can sing, but that and $5 will get you a PSL.) i think you could do better than that in the subway  especially if your early enough to get the spot with the really good acoustics  $50 bucks at least. That’s 10 PSL Seriously though, your selling yourself short teachers have so many skills that they forget. PLUS you have music skills. In addition to all the teaching skills. |

I would like to be fluent in a second language. I’m working on learning Spanish and it’s pretty incredible how many words I’ve picked up just doing DuoLingo for a few minutes a day for a year. I also wish I was good at interior decorating. I’ve been trying to find stuff that coordinates for the rooms in our cabin and dang it’s HARD! And it isn’t made any easier when you find out after the fact that you picked a really hard color to match/coordinate for all the walls, ugh. In hindsight, I think we did it all wrong. I probably should have picked bedding I loved first, and then took that to the store to pick a wall color and everything else. We got the flooring first, then picked a color for the woodwork and trim, then picked wall colors that went with those things. But now trying to find anything ELSE? Total nightmare. I finally found some quilts that work with the teal blue that fit my (nonexistent) budget, and I’m working on trying to find curtains next.  And that’s just the bedrooms. Why is this so hard? I can scrapbook and do other craft stuff until the cows come home, but decorating is just not in my wheelhouse. |

I would like to be able to draw. I have lots of very artistic people in my family and I can copy fairly simple drawings, but I can’t draw on my own.

Dance. Like really truly dance. I can wiggle my butt and have fun on a dance floor, but there’s this brain-to-body breakdown if I try anything coordinated like square dancing or the cha cha slide.
Side note: this thread has made me realize I have a lot of skills/talents people admire. Thank you for making me aware and grateful for all of the teachers I’ve had in my life.

Me too! Well, I can sing, but not so as anyone, including myself, would want to hear it. But sometimes it just feels so good to crank up the volume to drown out my voice and sing my heart out. |
